  1. At the risk of boring everybody who's already heard the story, I'll be brief :p.

Single gal from Seattle meets single guy from Wyoming on a Caribbean cruise in 2006. Six months later guy moves to Seattle and they marry exactly one year to the date they met - barefoot on the beach at sunset (at an all-inclusive in Negril, Jamaica). And so far live happily ever after.

Although he did bring his dog with him, and until then, I hated dogs (was attacked by a dog when I was about 2). I fell in love with the dog too and now I love dogs. But we just lost her about 3 weeks ago so now we're sad.

We no longer cruise because we got an RV and prefer to vacation that way. But some day we'll go back to cruising. He likes it more than I do.

We still have alot of friends we met cruising. In fact, we had a reunion cruise in 2012 with alot of the people from around the world who were on the 2006 cruise and witnessed us meeting and watched our romance blossom.

Thanks for sharing! I always like the rest of the story.

Wishing you many years of love and laughter. 😃

  2. Captain Leo was asked this question several times at various events. He said that he was going on vacation in September, returning in December. Captain Kate will take over when he is on vacation. The Summit will have 2 captains on 3 month rotation, him and Captn Kate.

Sounds like Capt Leo will sign off on the 8-30 cruise. Would have loved to meet Capt Kate but from what I've read, Capt Leo is awesome!

    I'm a happy girl. 😃

  3. We disembarked Silhouette yesterday, and my husband vows to never sail on Celebrity again due to the slowness of wifi/internet connection. It was painfully slow, and the complaints in the iLounge were constant. We don't remember dial-up being that slow 20 years ago!

We met a blogger who said she sailed Royal Caribbean and the difference was night and day.

Celebrity needs serious help when it comes to computer issues. We all know that their website is the worst, and I can confirm that their wifi on Silhouette is as well.

You need to sail on RCCL either Quantum or Anthem. The connection was awesome!

  4. Color me confused.

If I'm understanding correctly, you missed the ship and the boarded the Carnival Paradise and flew home from Tampa.

Did Carnival charge you for boarding Paradise? If not, that was quite generous.

It appears you are convinced that the ship left port early and I can assure you that there would have been a lot more people stranded at the pier if that was indeed the case.

Your watch was not set on the proper time which is such a shame.

So sorry your trip was ruined but be grateful Carnival offered you a future discount.

No need to contact the BBB, there is no fault here. Insurance won't pay out on your claim.

Hope you get to sail again someday.

  5. We were on the same cruise and I totally agree with you! We were in Aqua class. We had a fantastic experience! Service is absolutely outstanding. What a fantastic crew! Food is excellent. Shows and activities were great. We have been spoilt!:D

Thank you both for the review. So excited to sail her on 8-23.

Would live to know the must see activities.

    TIA

  6. The only one that's truly "bucket list" is the Med, which we had planned along with a land tour from Rome, for our 20th Anniversary in September. :( A "series of unfortunate events" has caused us to cancel, so it will stay on our To-Do list for a while longer.

Other than that, there are several itineraries we'd like to sail before we could say we were cruised-out:

    • Canada/New England
    • Panama Canal
    • Mexican Riviera
    • Hawaiian Inter-island

I'd also like a Transatlantic and a Northern European itinerary but DH has very little interest in either of those.

So sorry you had to cancel your Med Cruise. I truly hope that you find a means to make it happen. It's truly magical.

We did the Canada /New England and once was more than enough.

So depressing..it was a floating nursing home.

    Walkers and scooters everywhere.

  7. Perhaps someone knowledgeable can answer a question for me. About ten years ago, we were sailing the So Caribbean from San Juan and had to wait in the terminal 4 hours due to someone smuggling drugs onboard the previous cruise.

We were fortunate that we arrived early enough to get a seat inside the terminal but hundreds of other passengers stood outside in the sweltering heat in July while crew members served cold water. There were a number of pax that passed out from the heat.

Anyhow, was the delay a result of getting drug sniffing dogs to check every deck on the ship?

    Sorry to veer off topic..

  8. We sailed the Equinox in 2013 and as far as we are concerned, it's one of the most beautiful ships afloat.

We'll be sailing the Med next year on the Brilliance 12 day as we love the itinerary .

If Equinox did the same itinerary, we would have booked it in a blink.

Good luck in whatever you decide.

  9. It's worth pointing out that Summit may have some variations, as she is often used to test out new concepts before fleetwide roll-out.

Cool! We'll be sailing her next month. I read that in the buffet they now have small containers of food in the buffet rather than serving yourself from a large tray. Is that indeed the case?

  10. We took 7 day cruises for years due to work constraints and paying for 2 young children.

We then took a 10 day and realized the longer the better.

The longest to date has been 12 days as I am still working ( husband is retired).

However, we did find a great deal on a 7 day to Bermuda which I now consider a long weekend. 😎

  11. Thanks! I'm sure in all seriousness that a minute will feel a lot longer than it sounds when you are suspended in mid air trying to do anything but look ridiculous [emoji6]

I sailed in Quantum and yes, that minute does seem a lot longer. I did have the opportunity to fly a 2nd time at no charge but declined as my ribs were sore that day. So glad u tried it..great fun.

The Esplanade while beautiful, is nothing like the Royal Promenade where people gather.

It works quite well due to the number of pax onboard.

270 is a stunning venue at any time of day or nite and hosts some great shows and events.

Loved the Cafe 270 for lunch as well.

One of my favorite parts of the ship is the adult indoor pool at the front of the ship.

    Absolutely stunning!

Went up in the Northstar 4 x to experience it in port and at sea and at different times of day.

Great photo op. In fact, I witnessed the first marriage that was held in Northstar on our sailing

to a sweet couple from the UK.

The only downside for me was Dynamic Dining and it's evident Royal has abandoned rollout to other ships due to the problems and complaints.

Would I sail Anthem? In a heartbeat ..looking at other options currently but despite DD, had a wonderful time and I hope you do too.

  12. He doesn't want to do that though. He doesn't want any receptions. I suggested a long time ago that we just get married by ourselves and come back for a reception. Which is why everyone goes to a wedding anyways. I suggest a little ceremony for everyone to attend and we can just go to a restaurant or something afterwards. He wanted the wedding. I am okay with the small/intimacy part of the wedding/ceremony. He is not.

As far as our guest and their incomes, even people who live paycheck to paycheck can save for something big and special. That's why we figured giving everyone nine months to save would be ample time to set aside a little money each month towards a cruise. Some people are perfectly capable of doing it. And then there are always the people who say they can't afford it but have no problem going out to eat all the time, going camping all the time, taking a boat out, going on their own vacations, etc. We said from the very beginning that if someone wanted to go but couldn't come up with all the money, I have no problem working harder to help pay for someone. I just need them to try as well. I don't want to work my buns off to pay for someone because they don't want to try and save.

I heard this from someone who travels a lot, they said that as long as you think you can never afford to travel, you never will. But the truth is, you have to want to travel. You will find that the love of travel will encourage you to set aside money every month in order to reach your goal. The little goal of buying food out and drinking at the bars with your friends, those little goals will always take precedence over the big goal.

I lost my Mother, both my grandmothers, my brother, my aunt and I almost lost my father, all within a few years. I decided that I needed to make this memory with my family. I needed them to want to make this memory for each other. I don't know how much longer I will have my father. But while I have him, I wanted to have this once in a lifetime family vacation that I just happened to be getting married at.

First things first: Congrats on your upcoming marriage, may it be long and happy.

So very sorry about the loss of your Mom and other family members.

Let's break this down to the basics,

You clearly stated that you have a limited budget which everyone on this thread respected and understood.

Please read back over your posts and by your own admission you are inviting guests living paycheck to paycheck yet you expect them to endure financial hardship to finance your dream wedding. You are not willing to do so but expect your family to do so? SMH.

Nine months is not a lot of time to scrimp and save several thousand dollars for those with limited funds.

Please don't judge others by their unwillingness to jump onboard with your plans.

Not everyone likes cruising, may hate flying, have limited vacation time, etc.

They have their dreams as well for expendable income. It doesn't mean they aren't thrilled for you, just that the money is not there.

You mentioned that your future in laws are paying for your cabin. Therefore, your expenses are lower than your guests. I would never put that kind of pressure on the people I love most.

Something to ponder: do you want a wedding or a marriage?

If I was in your shoes, I would go with those that have already committed and have a wonderful time. For you it is a once in a lifetime trip with your Dad, go for it.

People that choose destination weddings have to realize that there will always be a higher percentage of " no's " than a local wedding.

    That's reality.

  13. Hi,

Not sure if I should ask this here...but here it goes. I've looked through celebrity site and it mentions new multilevel parking that would accommodate 900 cars and would be ready for march 2015. March obviously passed and their site was not updated. Can someone confirm that this parking is completed now and is clearly marked. Exact address would be most helpful so I can just put it into a GPS. Thanks for any help :)

    Address is

    14 Port Terminal Blvd

    Bayonne, NJ

As previously mentioned, the multi level parking is under construction.

Pull up to the curb, unload your luggage, follow the instructions given by the porter for parking and either walk back to the terminal or hop on the shuttle bus.

Once inside, no more shuttles to the ship. So easy.
