  1. thats seems to be the best answer.. we changed her booking name to match her passport, and will have her travel wityh just her passport as ID.. but like you, we will bring the other documentation.. just in case.. thanks everyone!

A friend cruised with me after her divorce. It was much easier to just fly and cruise in divorced name (wasn't ready to spend the $$$ to change psasport). Although she would have preferred travelling with her renewed maiden name, it was easier with just the passport in the divorced name.

  2. A few years back I used my Amex in Cozumel.

Exactly one month later, my Amex was being used in a Walmart in Cancun (they made a duplicate card, it wasn't online)...

I immediately received a call from Amex because, coincidentally, I was travelling to Germany, and just used it in Atlanta and then Munich. Also, American Express is good in the fact that they're system recognized a trial charge of $7, then tried for $700. Neither one made it my account, and all was good (they overnighted me a new card in Germany)

I thought back to Cozumel, and I only used my card twice. Once as a guarantee on a scooter, and once it was swiped at Margaritaville. I tend to think it was the scooter folks because they used the old-school machine, where it made an imprint. Whether it was the person who did it, or somehow someone manages to get the copies out of their files or such.

Good luck getting it straight before you go away!!!

  3. Add me to the list of people who don't usually read blogs, etc... but I read yours.

Chalk it up to over tired, over stressed, etc, but now I'm sitting at my desk with tears streaming down my face. I'm sure you've had your own hardships over the years, but thank you for sharing your bright Christmas moments. I needed a happy story right now, and this just totally fit the bill.

    Enjoy your cruise with Santa!

  4. I have heard from many that they do NOT let you buy any 'additional' drinks if you have the Cheers program. For anyone.

People had argued that once they met their own daily limit, they should be able to buy more drinks, paying for each additional drink. Carnival said no -- the drink limit is a drink limit.

There is a time requirement on Cheers, too, so that you don't order your whole day's allowance at once and hand them out.

I think the trick would be to buy others' drinks before the limit is reached. I believe the system stops from purchasing more after the 15 free drinks.

  5. I believe I have heard people saying that as they came close to 15 drinks (the maximum for the day) that they would PURCHASE drinks so that they didn't get cut off. So that would mean to me that yes, you would be allowed to purchase drinks for other folks even though you have the Cheers program for yourself.

  6. Awwww, what a shame. Thanks for the response.

So sorry - that was in reponse to the comment "At the stadium" (The Miami Dolphins football team... the season will be over, so I was kidding about that.)

As for seeing dolphins as you sail away, I'm not really sure if there is any specifically better spot on a ship. Guaranteed if I were on the boat, you'd see them on the other side than I was standing on - LOL!

  7. Hi to everyone. I haven't been around since last year around this time when we were planning a cruise and it looks like it's that time again. We are thinking of cruising on the Breeze in Jan and booking a deluxe ocean view room. Carnival says this room will sleep 5 and after looking at the pics I believe it is doable. I was wondering if anyone has already done this and can share their experience and also just how comfortable are their couches? I may end up on it if my 87 yo mom doesn't like it. Also any opinions on the Breeze are appreciated. It will be myself (60) my wife (29 30 times) my grandsons 12 and 8 and my mom.Thanks.

The Breeze is wonderful!!! I'd sleep on the floor with 6 people in an inside cabin if I had to :)

And yes, you can definitely do 5 people in the cabin, as long as everyone "goes with the flow", and you stay somewhat organized.

    Have a great time!

  8. Yes, paid for both, linked them and put both onboard expenses on my credit card.

Then you should have been able to check in together. I know everyone says it's a loophole for children in another cabin, but technically, the website states that someone in another cabin who is on the Platinum member's sign & sail account can check in and board together.

I've read on CC that some cruiseports may actually be enforcing the rules. Imagine that!

Too many people are linking bookings with one credit card just to be able to board together with Platinum or FTTF and then changing once onboard the ship. CCL is getting wise to it.

And I only agree with it when it's legitimate. If someone is willing to put someone else on their account for easy check-in, then they'd better be willing to keep them on their account...

  9. It really all depends on the agent working that day. I've been able to do this in the past, but last Friday we were told NO!!!

Eventhough I paid for 2 cabins, the one without the Platinum had to go through the regular line.

Were both cabins' Sign & Sail accounts on your credit card, too?

  10. It will be myself (60) my wife (29 30 times) my grandsons 12 and 8 and my mom.Thanks.

I'm laughing that I read that as myself (60) my wife (29) (30 times)...

I was thinking "how did he marry her 30 times if she's only 29???

Okay, I'm tired with End-of-year stuff... but I found it funny.!

  11. They are inside bunk bed cabins....

DH teased me about my great big Platinum room!! LOL...I reminded him that 4 cruises in one year doesn't exactly allow you to cruise in luxury....besides...Alex and I are hardly ever in the room so who cares??

I have been in those cabins more times than I think I could recall. DH joked the same with me, because that was always the weekend cruises with the girls, etc. Which now allows HIM to board early with me as the PLATINUM member :)

    Welcome to PlatinumLand!!

  12. We'll be taking the 4-day cruise on Victory in January (Key West and Cozumel). Does Victory change ship time to match Cozumel's time zone or does it stay on Miami time?

    Miami time.

If you book any excursions in Cozumel without going through the cruiseline, you will need to keep that in mind.

  13. I just had a similar problem. I just did a last minute booking and booked a Aft-Balcony cabin in the Victory's buttocks for an epic Thanksgiving Cruise. Bought and paid in full. It was the last balcony left.

I just got a call from a Carnival Supervisor stating I can't have thabalcony room anymore even though I already paid for it. They removed me from the balcony cabin and gave me a drippy inside cabin.

    :D.

This took me three times to read to figure out why it was funny.

Glad I figured it out, and I just laughed so hard!!! You've got a quick sense of humor :D

  14. I've been on 9 cruises since getting the iPhone when it first came out and have never been hit with data charges. Just make sure that you have data roaming turned off. If you get a lot of text or calls, though, you could be in trouble if you don't turn the phone off.

Me too - I always have my iphone on, just have data roaming off, and have never had a problem.

  15. I never thought about leaving the King as two twins. That may be the solution.

This was what I was going to suggest. We just had three of us in a Fantasy Class OV, and my husband and I separated the beds into an "L" shape, so we'd have more floor room, especially when the upper bunk came down. Not the most romantic, but then again, we had an 11 year old with us anyway! lOL!

I didn't read all responses, but an over the door shoe hanger is great. I usually put zip ties loosely in the hanger holes and hang it on the wall outside of the bathroom on the hooks where they put your "cruisin/snoozin" sign. Great for lots of things: hair spray, brushes, jewelry... Pretty much anything you'd put on the vanity/desk that would make a mess.

I use little plastic baskets on the floor of the shower too, to keep everything together.

  16. Ok..I made the reservation under my name/account and paid with my c/c. Her name is also on the cruise cause she is going.

She would like to access the cruise.

Can she log onto CCL using her user name/password or does she have to use mine?

She can use her own, but she will have to "add" this cruise to her profile.

I think it's under "manage my cruises".

She will need the booking number.

  17. In 3 cruises I have seen my steward for a total of 5 times, twice on cruise 1 &2 and once on the last cruise....sounds like folks see theirs a bit more? Not sure I'd even recognize mine on ship most times. Then again, I hear say the steward and wait staff has called them by name...never have I or my wife witnessed that? We must smell bad or something??? :)

I always laugh when we cruise with my parents in connecting rooms (or even just next door). Mom always knows her cabin steward, I never do. Same person, so I know it's not for lack of service. It's just that she'll be back at the cabin more than us. She and dad will turn in early with our daughter. Mom will call for ice, tea, etc. She really gets to know her steward. We get our ice, and towels, and turn down service, etc, but it's like it happens magically :) And as long as we get service, I'm happy with that.
