  1. No, but it does negatively impact spontaneous purchases. I monitor cruise prices all of the time on the Princess website. When I hit a 10 day cruise for December 2016 and the total $1200 casino discount showed up for the cabin of my choice, I instantly booked it. If it did not show me that discount, I guarantee that I would not have booked it, nor would I have called. I researched over 100 cruises on 4 different lines for December 2016 through March 2017 that day and I chose that one because of the great casino fare that was visible to me online.

Nearly all of my cruises have been spur of the moment decisions based on me surfing the corporate cruise sites for deals. For that reason, I believe that Princess would be smart to either reinstate the visual online discount or fix it if it is a bug.

    My 2 cents! Paul

  2. Thanks Caribill for answering my question. No I am not in that "survey" group. I have only got the survey they send out that you get once you arrive home that asks all the general questions about your cruise. This was the first time that I can remember receiving another type of survey.

    Ditto. Paul

  3. Had our TA check the pricing for the current Sun Drenched Deals sale with the free on board spending. She was able to get a new casino rate, saving us $450 and $300 OBC. We were already booked with the old casino rate. Woo hoo!!:D

Yes ... agree - big $$$ savings today with casino rate in tact with a simple Princess phone check beyond on-line personalizer numbers - love it!

Thanks, mkitchy and seafish. Been waiting to hear that the casino rate is back. Not seeing it come up by booking online. So, you now have to call direct and have them check the rates? Have two scheduled, but was upset when it disappeared for third cruise.

    Thanks, Paul

  4. Same management since March, when Bimini Boatyard's owner Steve Hudson AKA Hudson Capital partnered with Tim Petrillo AKA The Restaurant People...it's being reopened as Boatyard.

    Hello, Sharon.

I see that Boatyard did open this past Saturday. However, that is all their new website page says. Do you have any links to their new menu yet; or, have you heard anything about the food yet?

    Thanks, Paul

  5. Then you'd hear complaints about those who "bought" their elite status. As a solo cruiser, I usually pay double for the cruise so it's nice that Princess awards double cruise credits. Yes, I'm one of those who got to elite based on credits. I also tend to take ship excursions, and yes, even continue to buy photos, etc., so while I read so many complaints about those getting to elite based on credits instead of days, with this system, I'm sure I would then read complaints about those who bought their status based on spending and not based on days. There will always be people who are not happy with whatever system is used.

Personally, I'm grateful for the amenities that Princess awards and consider it a gift. And I was taught that when you are given a gift, you should appreciate it, instead of complaining that too many others got the same gift, so you should get more. Princess, along with other cruise lines, doesn't HAVE to have a loyalty program, and I appreciate that they do. Just my personal opinion.

Well said. Plus, it is our choice to cruise with whatever line suits us with the existing available options, as opposed to 'what if' options. We still choose Princess, and not for a free lunch on a ship that has, well, all free lunches. Nor do we sail Princess for a table full of cheese and crackers that looks like a cattle drive went through it within 15 minutes of opening the door for the suite/elite/platinum nightly reception. Just my opinion.

  6. With all due respect, I think you are trying to solve a problem that doesn't exist.

Sure, people are becoming Elite every day (or week or month). But people slow down their cruising due to old age or just plain die on a regular basis too.

We've been cruising for 15 years and just now became Platinum on Princess. I feel like we are lucky to be able to cruise so much. I just don't see how Princess ships are going to become half full of Elites. Can anyone demonstrate this in a believable fashion?

    Jim

Ditto. Do you mean more believable than it taking the commodore a whole 72 hours to get his skivvies back from the laundry???

  7. At a week out, DW starts to narrow down the 200 outfits and 30 pairs of shoes and sandals that are neatly laid out in four rooms in the house. On the last day, I gather 7 polos, 3 shorts, 2 khakis, my tux, a pair of sandals and a pair of dress shoes and I get hollered at for packing too much....go figure!

Forgot: 8 swim suits to my 1...

  8. Yes, on our Regal cruise in April. We caught two unauthorized charges on the cruise. They go through all the receipts, and they have to take your word for it because there are no signatures. There was no debate, we just told them we didn't have those drinks. No receipts is another reason to check your account everyday. It makes it easier to remember!

  9. You are welcome. It is a clearer image than the posted pictures of the menu. We've eaten most of the items and all are good. The only things we haven't tried (other than the pineapple pizza that we don't enjoy) are the Pizza Tarantina with the seafood and the Calzone. We will remedy that in the near future...

  10. Oh, low blow, Jasperdo....

I am actually on my pre-cruise diet, and Prego's is my first break of my fast. DW heads for the umbrella drinks and I head for two slices.

Really, thanks for the pics. They provide a good incentive.

  11. Agree with most responses. If I had my druthers, I would choose to know the evening headliners, such as comics and magicians. But still none would make us change our anticipated cruise. If we don't enjoy the entertainment or CD, we still enjoy each other and the opportunity to cruise.

  12. Two different styles of pizza; but, IMHO, both equally delicious. Some don't, but we love the pizzas on Princess. If I were forced, I would choose Pregos because I can grab a slice, or three, on the way back to my cabin....

    Mangia and Salute. Paul

  13. Thanks, Caribill.

Yes, that's what I mean, but I am even staying clear of the 'casino' credits, and just pre-buying OBC. So, no big bill at the end of the cruise, but double credits before the cruise!

No, all the way on the other side of the State near D.C.

    Thanks and Safe Journeys, Paul
