  1. Hahahaha :) Well I certainly don't want to ruin anyone's cruises with a little family t-shirt fun. Maybe I'll just get the babies some cute tuxedo onesies and leave it at that ;)

If anyone is offended or they let this ruin their cruise, then shame on them! I say wear your t-shirts & have fun! (Although I’ve never cruised RCCL, I’m guessing dining would have to be buffet)

  2. Just got off last Friday. It was advertised in our paperwork that last call would be 9:55 am. We got off at 9:45 am. It sounded like from the announcements, they meant business so we went ahead and left. :)

That’s not bad! We’re usually off by 7-8am. Given the fact that San Juan may be limited with things to do, we’re in no hurry.

  3. If you go out of the terminal and onto the main road and you walk towards the town on the left had side (the right hand side is by the water) you will come to a craft store on the left side. We have had some good suggest purchasing items there.

    Thanks so much Keith!

  4. Looking for unique places to shop. We tend to look for handcrafted items by locals when we are in ports. We don't care about the regular tourist junk or diamond international type places. We collect Christmas ornaments from every new port, so definitely need to find those.... Any suggestions??

  9. You need to double check your hotel situation by contacting the hotel directly. Many people have not been notified when their hotel reservations were cancelled.

There's no Marriott hotel I'm aware of that goes by the name "Marriott Old San Juan".

The hotel actually called our TA (who is also part of our traveling group) to see if we are still coming in and assured him they would still be welcoming us.

As far as the hotel name, you never heard of it because, dummy me, screwed up LOL  Its Hyatt Place/San Juan City CenterHH yyatt

  10. Flying in on the 11th (our hotel is still accepting our group...so far. We are all arriving at different times from all over the US). We're booked at the Marriot OSJ.

Our flight home on the 19th isn't until 6 pm.

We need transportation from airport to hotel, hotel to cruise port, cruise port to airport. Are taxi's our best bet? What would the approximate cost be for 2 of us?

We arrive at 5 pm on the 11th. Will we be able to find some dinner or should we plan to eat at the airport before going to the hotel?

On our return, our flight doesn't leave until 6 pm. Any suggestions what we can do to pass time until about 3pm? What do we do with our luggage?

This is our 6th cruise but This cruise is entirely new territory for us as neither of us has been to San Juan and every port is new to us! I appreciate any advice or ideas :)

  11. Rainbow gets too crazy on a ship day, jetskis and loud music are not my cup of tea.

Sandcastle is a bit expensive for food, otherwise it's perfect. Very relaxing and peaceful with beautiful views and great snorkeling.

So, Drake, I noticed your signature about asking you anything about St Croix... Soooo...what's the best beach to go to that's close enough to the port that we can take a taxi to? A beach bar would be cool, but not needed. We really like the "off the beaten path" type places. Amenities and entertainment are not necessary, but we don't need to avoid them either. Just want a beautiful beach and sunshine!

Also, any places you'd recommend for shopping, hand crafted by locals items & unique items are what we are after. None of that touristy junk!

    Thanks in advance!

  12. I just received an itinerary change for the Nov. 12 sailing of the Dawn. Still going out of San Juan. Now going to Antigua and St. Croix rather than St Maarten and St. Thomas.

We were notified by our TA. 5 new ports for us, 6 if you include San Juan! Looking forward to "anywhere but here"!

  13. There is no 'specialty dining fee' to eat at Los Lobos added on top of the menu pricing. Everything on the menu is individually priced and we thought prices were good. If you have the SDP you could choose to use one of your meals there, or just go in and order at the al-carte pricing. We chose to eat there three times during our week on the Dawn so we could try more items. The plates they serve are generous, delicious and quite filling. We had to pace ourselves!

    Thanks for that info!

  14. So, I am wondering...we do not have the dining package as a perk and will not be purchasing it but want to try Los Lobos. The way I am understanding the website is we pay the specialty dining fee (say it's $30 pp) PLUS 18% gratuity PLUS each items price ala carte???? We still will try it, but if that's the way it works that is really not cool. That's like double charging IMO. Am I interpreting this incorrectly?

  15. Oh boy! I just figured out where I will be spending my money :D I've been to Nassau and St Thomas enough and there's nothing there I want to buy but I love places like THIS, not those touristy places with mass produced touristy junk!

So glad I ran into this thread! Thank you!

  16. I was a bit underwhelmed with the food itself. I had the carpaccio and the swordfish, and while definitely a step above the MDR, not sure I would feel the need to eat there again. At least the prices are pretty cheap compared with what you would expect for similar quality in a land based place.

About the pricing, do we still pay the charge for this perticular restaurant even with the 4 night dining package? On the NCL site, it's the only one we chose that is showing an upcharge
