And I promise I will leave the Muse in tip top condition for you.We are disembarking in Auckland that day.

    Much appreciated.

I notice you have a Scenic Eclipse cruise coming up. They just cancelled our 23 day Mediterranean cruise. A very stressful year of ups and downs.

Happy to be back in the good hands of Silversea.

  2. This is from a November 2nd article in Cruise Passenger Magazine.

Exclusive: Scenic will put out a statement as early as next week on the launch of its revolutionary new luxury expedition ship Scenic Eclipse, which has been battling the growing problems facing the Croatian shipyard building the vessel.

Check out the article out at https://cruisepassenger.com.au/scenic-pledges-statement-on-eclipse-launch/

I have had no further news which is disappointing. Twice I have messaged Scenic with my concerns and also asked when will we hear something about the submarine as one helicopter has been delivered but no info about the sub.  I just got a standard answer about how great the ship will be.  The lack of updates is a real concern and all booked passengers should be getting a weekly update regarding the fitout. I don’t think the office has any idea unfortunately.  I have also noticed that Scenic now refer to Eclipse’s

maiden voyage as early 2019 not end of January.   We will be so disappointed if this trip is cancelled, here’s hoping all will be ok. It must be a very stressful time for the Moroney family but wish they could let us all know what they know. Surely they would not keep taking our money is they are aware of the cruise date being cancelled.

  4. This will be a beautiful ship! Hope it works out for those booked on the early itineraries. Fingers crossed for you all. I am booked on the new RC ship that is also under construction and launching early 2020 and after reading this thread I will keep a close watch on RC progress.

  5. I just received this from my TA.

    Good afternoon Elaine,

I received a call from Karl at Scenic Cruises, he is in the Boston office and is following up with me regarding your email to the Australia office. He indicated when a reservation is made with a travel agency their policy is to communicate with the Travel Agent and not the guest.

At any rate, I have been told the ship will be completed the end of November, she will spend the month of December sailing around Croatia then on to South America for her maiden voyage 1/28/19 until 3/22/19 and then head to Tenerife.

They do not send out information in advance on the shore excursions, I have attached the daily itinerary I was sent by Karl. Each day lists the shore excursions to choose from. Most of the excursions are selected once you are onboard, there are a few optional tours that can be reserved in advance online through the cruise personalizer where you completed the guest registration.

I hope this information helps and puts your mind at ease a little bit. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me again.

    Warm regards,

    Donna

  6. At least that is some good news but then I don't think that amount of money will go very far in such a large business and from our point of view will it allow the completion of the Eclipse?

I can not beleive the Scenic CEO. I really feel ashamed that he is an Australian.

No mention or update on the current progress on the Eclipse.

All he is interested is flighing his own flag, certain has no interest in how passengers are currently feeling!!!

I am sorry for you too. We love the Australian people, as an American we do feel kinship in our independent streak. Don't want to rehash this thread, it seems we all feel the same. WeI hope this CEO starts updating us VERY soon. It's the right thing to do.

  7. If the shipyard (Uljanik) is sent into bankruptcy and the Eclipse is caught up in that process, then it could be a very long time before the ship sees the light of day, if ever.

In fact it could also push Scenic into a very tight situation, and I certainly do not want to even think about that, as we could all lose a lot of money!!!

Just maybe, that is why we are not hearing anything directly from Scenic about the current situation?

The big question is, will the EU be willing to bail out a private Company that has already received huge funds from the government. And all that is to prop up a facility that is old and inefficient.

Only time will tell, but then that may not help Scenic.

From an article I found today, Scenic Eclipse is not one of the four companies that have pulled out. I think the ones that cancelled were probably just orders not yet started.

  8. Some tidbit for you all.

Scenic Takes Delivery of Helicopters for Eclipse

    September 04, 2018

Scenic has taken delivery of its Airbus H130 helicopters for the 228-guest Scenic Eclipse, due to be launched in January.*

As one of the quietest helicopters in the skies, the H130's low sound levels are seven decibels below the International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) requirement, and is quieter than the most restrictive sound limits defined for flights over national parks, animal and nature reserves across the world, Scenic said.

The H130 is also one of the most environmentally sound helicopters on the market with its’ low fuel burn ensuring less emissions.

Scenic Founder and Chairman, Glen Moroney said the two helicopters onboard Scenic Eclipse will offer guests a unique opportunity to go above and beyond.

“Scenic has always sought to venture beyond the horizon and with our helicopters we provide guests with the opportunity to enjoy unparalleled access to some of nature’s most beautiful sites. We have specifically selected this model for its wide, unobstructed cabin space which can accommodate the pilot and up to six passengers, with outstanding visibility for all passengers," Moroney said.

Specific modifications have been made to the H130 to ensure it meets the requirements of Scenic in terms of safety and guest comfort. These include Bose noise cancelling headsets; five cameras fitted to the interior and exterior of the helicopter to provide guests with footage of their flight; customised leather seats and interior fit out; and a bluetooth audio system allowing music to be piped to guests. As the H130 has been designed to be carried onboard the Scenic Eclipse, it has been fitted with a quick blade fold kit to allow the rotor blades to be folded on landing this reducing hangar size required
