  1. It's an easy question to ask, and settles the issue: just ask your cabin steward if he's getting is tips OK with auto-pay. I would think if RCCL kept the money they would have a MASSIVE class action lawsuit. Plus, I've been doing business with RCCLfor 49 years and 2 months now. I have found them to be, for the most part, pretty honest in dealing with their staff. I've met people who have worked for the company for 30 years (multiple people). Just ask the crew.
  2. I am on the Liberty right now, and they are still doing twice daily room clean-up. I asked about it, and my cabin steward, Kedi, said twice a day.
  3. I have felt for decades in restaurants a frustration that I cannot tip the cooks. I don't see them, but I definitely benefited from their labor. I assume the wait staff share their tips with the bussers (I know they did with my son when he was a busboy in a restaurant as a teenager. Well, also the cook like him and during his meal break gave him prime rib and a baked potato). So, I am glad some of the less / never seen workers are getting a share of my auto-tips. The problem is they would get nothing for their service to me if I didn't auto-tip. I tipped the casino cashier on my last cruise, because she was flying the next day allllllllll the way to South Africa, and I wanted her to get some good coffee in the airport. Your decision. But remember those hard working cooks, dishwashers, and cleaners at the restaurants you worked with back in the day...............
  4. I think the opposite will happen: they will keep the same number of staff, and cut their workload (which is waaay too much right now with twice daily cleanings). Passengers will most likely ask for extra towels, and if they run out of towels, they will learn quickly to do so. I don't know about your crystal ball, but that's what mine is telling me. 😁
  5. I doubt I will change my towel habits at all. I definitely don't want to re-use a damp towel that's been hanging in a small, closed space. As a solo cruiser, I get towels for 2 people, anyway, and always ask for extra washcloths. I'll rehang a hand towel, because they dry quickly. As a Californian, I practice conservation measures as much as possible, but wet towels..... (now) folded on the floor and under the counter.
  6. Even though my cabin may only be cleaned once a day, I will still use the same amount of towels, sheets. I would think that will remain a constant. The frequency of room cleaning has nothing to do with it. I figure the cabin steward gets about $7.50 per day of the daily gratuity charged. I think it's perfectly OK to pay that with one room cleaning. I imagine the attention to detail and personal requests will improve, too.
  7. Actually, people are so accustomed to seeing others wearing a mask, that there are no questions asked. I've been masking on cruise ships since mid-January of this year, and the only questions I've ever been asked were "where did you get that mask?".
  8. Yes. By the time a woman is 8.5 months preggers with an 8.5 lb baby, she thinks she's been carrying it her whole life. I have a picture of our cat lying in the shade of my belly the day before the aforementioned baby was born.................................
  9. Pinnacles are allowed on the Suites Sun Deck, and in September the gates on the Allure were working. I love that area. The recessed areas at the "corners" are really nice: catch a breeze, but in the shade.
  10. I've been tipping cash for all my D, D+, and P drinks since they started giving out the free drinks in the lounges.
  11. Yes, I definitely have a cabin recommendation. It's 9614, and you step out of it and right into the lobby area for the stairs and elevators mid-ship. Very quiet though. I think it is an area that used to be larger suites that were cut down for JS cabins. I was blown away when I walked into it. HUGE cabin. The far wall opposite the door had the large slider for the balcony, but also a floor-to-ceiling stationary window to the left of the balcony door. Tons of light in this cabin. I actually started to laugh when I opened the door to the closet. It was ginormous! I laid down on the floor and did a full "snow angel" in it, and I'm 5'7" tall. I turned the chair and ottoman toward the balcony, and it was a wonderful place to sit and read. LOVED this cabin! Here's a video of the cabin:
  12. As I said, I think it's a local County mandate. Or, it could have been the management of that particular hotel. Most of us in CA know that if we don't comply, we are refused service or goods and are asked to leave. But, most of us have been doing this for over 2 years, and are accustomed to the requests to wear them inside businesses. I wear one anytime I go into a crowded place, especially now during flu season. After having COVID with pneumonia from 1/2020 to 5/2020, I started wearing masks away from home, and I haven't been sick, or had a cold/flu in almost 3 years.
  13. I could be a county mandate. We have them by county in No CA.
  14. The complaints have probably been rolling in for over a week now, since RCCL said they were very interested in feedback. I'm guessing the word is probably out that the dining room manager on each ship can be discretionary about the extra lobsters, etc., depending on supply. Really, really bad idea. What did they think the passengers would say??????? They've been sailing with extra complimentary entrees for almost 54 years now. I predict a nice little rollback on this unpopular policy.
  15. Comfort Suites in Bakersfield, CA. Big sign on the front door and in the lobby. Staff are masked, too.
  16. I interpreted it to mean those former policies were still in effect, since the header said specifically the page was updated for December 2022. Well, gotta go update my ignore list now........................
  17. I find that calling the C&A number gets faster service.
  18. I've been pushing this concept to both my sons for decades. I say, "You seem to have the problem well stated, so now what is your suggestion for the solution."
  19. This web page is very informative. Updated for December 2022. https://www.islandlifecaribbean.com/covid-19-update/
  20. Which is perfectly normal. The drink may be free, but some passengers need to be reminded the labor is the same whether the drink is paid for or not. Same effort.
  21. Yes. Plus, on a laptop/desktop, try using Chrome with an incognito window. First clear all history to get the cookies cleared, then try the incognito window.
  22. Never eat fish without me. I will eat ANY and ALL fish, crustacean. Well, I don't like calamari ever since I read the urban legend they were substituting sliced pig's anus for calamari.
  23. I love tilapia. I think sole is, well, the cardboard of seafood. Anyone who has ANY allergy needs to give that information to their waiter. Don't take chances.
  24. I'll eat your catfish, and give you my hushpuppies.............
  25. Let's see: assisted living center required mask AND took my temp; dentist office today required mask in their waiting room; hotel 2 days ago required mask in public areas; new care home for my MIL required mask, temp, and vaccination card. Who knows who is going to ask for what? I just keep these two small, take-up-no-room items with me, and don't get defensive or angry because I'm asked to use them once in a while. It truly is no big deal.
