I booked a cruise back in February 2023 with an airline TA for a sailing in December 2023. However, today I noticed that if booked today the taxes and port fees are nearly half as they were in February (669.82 vs. 379.82). I have heard of fees changes , but never this large. This seems very odd. Has anyone ever seen anything like this? Any explanation?

I called the TA and the agent seemed clueless when I asked about it and just offered a price adjustment (which would include an increase in the cruise fare). 

I will be cruising on the Bliss in December. When I originally booked the cruise the price difference between club balcony suite and regular balcony was only $50 per person, but now the balcony has dropped to be $200 less per person. Now, I’m debating whether to change to balcony and get the savings. From the online description the room (bathroom) seems larger but the balcony is smaller. Is thus true? Any advice on switching or staying with BCS will be welcomed. Thanks!

p.s. - also the taxes and port fees have decreased by nearly 50% since when I booked. 

I figured the Cruise Critic board members would find some humor in this experience. When I booked my upcoming cruise on Silhouette, I got the All Included package. After downloading my Xpress Pass, I saw “CALL” under packages. I interpreted it as I needed to call because there was a problem with my package. I called my travel agency and explained to the agent what I was seeing. Thus, the agent called  Celebrity who confirmed that my package was showing in the system. However, neither explained that “CALL” was actually the name of my package. It was only after searching Cruise Critic that I learned the CALL and PALL (I plan to upgrade to this) titles. I should have come here first!

I am doing this cruise as pre-SXSW adventure since I’ll be in Texas. Anyone else sailing this cruise?

My family and I (4 adults and 1 child) are doing a Christmas cruise from Tampa. However, we plan to spend a few days in Orlando ahead of time. Are there available transportation services for getting from Orlando to the Tampa port? I have looked at rental cars options, but most say that there is no availability for the one way trip (my guess is it is related to the rental car rental because if I were returning to same location cars are available). Thanks in advance!

This is a cruise of many firsts for me - first canal transit, first holiday cruise, and first Princess cruise.

The flash sale was for purchasing the package. I was told it did not apply to those upgrading from classic to premium when the classic package was a perk. I gladly paid the $11.80 to upgrade as it will be more expensive if I do it on board with the price increase.

Thanks to all who confirmed that they had the same experience as I with not being able to upgrade the perk Classic package using the flash sale prices.

I’m still happy that I avoided the price increase for the upgrade to Premium.

This morning the flash sale prices are/were still showing, as well as an option to upgrade (this was not there yesterday), on line. But the price for the upgrade was equivalent to a $10/night difference ($65-$55 + 18% tax) and not the difference between the flash sale prices ($48.75-41.25) or the difference between the new price ($69-55).

I called and the agent was very nice. She offered the $11.80/night upgrade price. When I pointed out that that difference did not match the difference in the shown flash sale prices, she said she would research and call me back. When she called back, she said that I could not take advantage of the flash price difference because I had the Classic package as a free perk. She explained that the flash prices should have been taken down by now, but would honor the flash price if I wanted to pay for the full package (i.e., not upgrade from a perk). Furthermore, she highly encouraged that if I did not want to pay for a full package to take the $11.80/night price because the price difference should be greater due to the new Premium package price. She was not sure why it was still offering me the difference with the old Premium package price, but thinks it will update sometime today to the higher difference. I wonder if the new vs old Premium package price depends on when your cruise is booked.

So, when others called to upgrade their perk Classis package were you able to get the flash sale price difference or the $11.80/night difference? I see ducthclogs "ETA" that says s/he was not, but it seemed that others were.

Ugh! Without knowing about the upcoming price increase I tried to upgrade from Classic to Premium package this evening to take advantage of the 25% off sale. When I tried online it would only offer the full sale price (48.75/night) for the Premium package, not the difference between the two packages. I called Captain's Club and the representative was not willing to do the upgrade because I made the reservation through a TA (those who got it done otherwise, lucky you!). The only thing she suggested was having my TA try first thing in the morning...I have very little confidence that that will work.

And now, that I have read that the price difference will increase, I am really disappointed that I was not able to get upgraded!

I fly out tomorrow afternoon and am staying the night with a friend before we head over to the port on Wednesday. See y’all there!

Hey! Four friends and I have signed up for this cruise as our annual trip. We are not that excited by the stops, but are just looking forward to a fun time. I hope other fun people will be on the ship.

You can find Frogg Toggs pretty much anywhere - Dick's sporting goods, Cabela's, Amazon and Walmart to name a few. Might not be a bad idea to check them out in person - you will be surprised at first. The material will seem like Tyvek or house wrap but they do work very well.

 

 

 

The All Sport has all the 'bells and whistles', the Pro-lite has a stuff sack and the Ultra Lite is the most compressible. I already have a Columbia Titanium rain jacket but purchased the Frogg Toggs Pro Action pants.....

I've been using Frogg Toggs a lot this season up here. I'm now a fan. They're fairly inexpensive ($20) and has the jacket and pants. They are roomy, vent nicely, and are very waterproof. Definitely layers with gloves and a hat would be best for September.

There is talk Oprah might run for President in 2018. Hopefully sh e and all her cronies will be too busy to sail. Does Orrlando really think this kind of policital conneciton is a great idea? I hope not. Maybe someone will clue him in. Maybe the'll hink it fine if she c ampaaigns aboard :rolleyes:. That could saave HAL lots of money. Have her make campaign speeches in show loung e instead of hiring singers and dancers.

 

 

As much as some from U.S. might hate that scenario, or even love itt, I cannot imgine what those from other couuntries would t not like it much iff i ended up on an Oprah cruise if I forgogt to ksk when I booked..

This is our (David and Peter) fourth or fifth crossing on the Epic. Does anyone remember when that computer company cancelled 800+ rooms and the ship was quite comfortable....remember the nude sundeck....remember the Miss Epic pageant.....remember Terry, or Jay and Rod?
