  1. I have now found out that a further friend of mine had attempted to book this crossing. One was told that there was only one Haven Suite available at $6000 for two sharing and the other has been put on a waiting/standby list.

When I looked at the NCL .co.uk website earlier this crossing does not appear any more.

If your friends are still interested. There are now balcony guarantees for $899 on US site. However, as other have mentioned, there is no certainty about how long this will be there. I noticed this offering a couple weeks ago. But between then and now there have been periods when this cruise did not show up in search results on the US NCL site.

  2. Since last weekend the prices and availability seem to have changed by the hour. Late on Tuesday there were no studios available but plenty of inside and balcony cabins at good prices were. This afternoon a friend in Chile suddenly showed an interest in doing this crossing. In Chile on the .com NCL there was no availability showing but when I looked on the .co.uk NCL there were two studios showing available at good prices. Three hours later there is now only one studio showing available and no inside or balcony.

Yes, something weird is happening. I've also noticed the sporadic changes in availability.

Was your friend able to book the trip?

  3. Hi All. David and Joseph from California here. It's looking like we will be on this T/A with you. This will be our 3rd T/A on the Epic (plus last year on the Jade). 2011/2014/2016. We will be traveling with our kids who are now 7/8/9. Each time we go we are getting to spend more time with the FOD crowd - and hopefully this year will be the best yet! Looking forward to meeting you all and possible visiting with some we have met before.

Welcome! This is my husband and my first time on Epic and doing a transatlantic. Any advice given your past experiences doing transatlantics on this particular ship?

Were your past cruises during this same time of year? If so, what was the weather like?

  4. Just reviving this conversation.

Is everyone still booked on this cruise? We moved from a regular balcony to an aft-balcony.

We just booked our return flight. We also have a hotel reservation for a few days after the cruise in Barcelona. Next (in a few months), we will start thinking about activities.

    How is everyone's planning coming?

  5. I cruise on the Reflection in a couple weeks and understand that the Molecular Bar has been converted to the World Class Bar. Some cruisers from the first week of this conversion have reported mixed reviews about the service and also reported inability to make all drinks. There were also reports that the menu would change after the first week.

I have a couple questions for anyone who cruised Reflection with a departure date of February 13 or later. Do you have any pics of the menu from your week? Did the mixologists have all th equipment and ingredients necessary to make all the drinks on the menu?

    Thanks in advance!

  6. We were on the sailing with you and were one of the ones that had a very different experience than you at the World Bar. I suspect that Nikasa really helped make your time there better.

My blog post about the bar (including pictures of the menu) is here:

Thanks for posting your blog with the menu. Twelve friends and I sail on the Reflection in a couple weeks from today and are curious about the World Class Bar. A subset of us cruised together before and loved the Molecular Bar and were disappointed to learn it is no more. Thus, we were hoping this would be a good replacement.

  7. The Molecular Bar has been changed to the World Class Bar on the Reflection. Someone posted a menu on another thread, and the drinks look good.

On my last Celebrity cruise, I was with a group of five and we hung out at the Molecular Bar nightly as well. We tried the FOD gathering once, but like your experience, no one was there. We had a drink and then headed to the Molecular Bar for more. This time there are 13 in our group and we are already planning to hit up the World Class Bar.

  8. We have dinner at a particular time because of the size of our group. Although I'd much rather have select, so I can go when I actually feel hungry rather than a set schedule.

    Less than 3 weeks!

When is everyone getting into Miami? My husband and I arrive the morning of, but most of the others in my group get in on Friday.

Will you do the gay meet ups?

  9. Looking forward to it. I hope we get to meet onboard.

Dresterj - my husbands birthday is just before the cruise so I might surprise him with something onboard. Did your group do any sort of advance planning for this birthday?

    Hey,

We have not done much planning beyond booking our rooms for the cruise and coordinating dinner time, lol. My buddy's (who was also my best man) birthday was actually last week but he could not convince his other friends to travel so close to the holidays.

Let me know if you come up with any ideas. I may steal them and share with our group. [emoji4]

Are you traveling with a group? Or just the two of you?

  10. I just received the email too. We are booked on BA in June 2016. They give the option to pre pay at the previous before July 31. Guess we'll be doing that *sighs*. We are also booked for the Escape January 2016. We booked that a few weeks before they raised the DSC the first time. We pre paid that as well [emoji52]

Reread your email. My email says that I have until final payment to pay at the current rate. That is applicable to cruises booked before July 31, 2016 (that may be where you're getting that date).

  11. We got an email no phone call this week, but we upgraded from an ocean view to an Ocean Suite mid ship on the Victory 5/2.. For $360.00 total.. We jumped on that .. The extra space will be nice , but I hope I can go back to being in smaller cabins again[emoji6] we are traveling without our kids this time.. We are a family of 5.. So we never get upgrade calls! This was our 1st one ever.

That's sounds like a much better deal than I was offered. I would have taken your offer as well.

  12. Do they leave a message to call back, if you are unavailable when they happen to call?

I answered the phone when he called. So there was no message. He did send me an email with his phone number and extension. Therefore, I could call back if I thought it over and decided to pay for the upgrade.

  13. Good suggestion - I did that and the current ocean suite price is only $20 more total than if we paid our current balcony rate plus $500 for upgrade. Thus, at current market value the upgrade is not a bargain.

We will pass unless they come back later with a cheaper price. I'm not holding my breath.

I would try to "rebook" the room on Carnival.com to see how much that suite really is. For all you know, it could be $1500 more - and that would be an amazing savings! I did this when they called me two weeks ago to upgrade from ocean view to a balcony. Saved over $300, which is nice since I was considering upgrading anyway.

This way, you'll know how much of a deal you are getting.

Personally, for your Honeymoon, I would seriously consider it if you have the money. (Or you can spend that money on excursions and/or drinks).

    Congratulations!

  14. Jgilbert813,

Thanks for info on the room. When I was booking I could not find much about others experience with that type of room. Perhaps I was not looking in the right places or doing the right searches.

    First off - Congratulations :D!!!

Second - I think more a factor than the price is how much are you going to use the extra space. I am assuming since it is your honeymoon you will be spending a little extra time in the cabin ;), but is that enough to justify the extra $ to you.

I have had one of those "L" shaped rooms with the extra long balcony before and absolutely loved it. The extra space on the balcony was fantastic! Our only complaint was that since it was on the very back of the ship, it was a long walk to anything we wanted to do in the front.

I know I couldn't help on if $500 was a good price or not, but I wanted to share my point of view and maybe it will help.

  15. Thanks for the quick responses. The $500 is for both of us (i.e. $250 per person). The extra room space would just be nice not necessary.

I cannot find anywhere that provides the square footage of our current balcony so I cannot say how much additional space it would be.

The thing the we like most is the bathroom - dressing room, two sinks, and jetted tub.

  16. I just got a call from Carnival offering an upgrade on Splendor (8 days) from our balcony (8B - room 7443 - I think it's a longer balcony and odd shaped room) to an Ocean Suite for $500. It's a larger room (185 vs. 275 sq ft) and balcony. It's our honeymoon so it would be nice to upgrade to suite but wonder if it's a good price. Any thoughts are welcome.

    Thanks
