Oh. My. God. This review is music to my ears. Fantastic. I'm onboard Arvia on 18th March for the transatlantic Caribbean. I know I'll love her as I love Iona.

    Thank you.

Us too - flying from Gatwick on 17th.

  2. Loving your review thanks - it’s making the excitement mount as our cruise gets nearer on the 18th.  Bookings for entertainment and restaurants open soon and your photos are making me drool ha ha.  Do you know if it is possible to book day passes for the retreat once on board? We’ve had notification that we can pre book for the full cruise at £425 per person - gulp !!! Thanks

If your balcony is on the starboard side then you've cracked it, as you will get the sun morning until evening heading back towards Southampton.🌞

You will probably find, if you are on the promenade deck and fancy getting away from the sun worshippers hogging the sunbeds on the Transatlantic leg, the port side will be quieter as will be the infinity whirlpools (or, as our friend calls them: sex ponds) on that side.🙄

Thanks, yes we’re on starboard deck 14  - Will be strange packing shorts and t shirts for the first part of the cruise but also jumpers and trousers for the second part 🤪 (but hoping won’t need till the last couple of days) I’m not going to be able to walk past the whirlpools now without a chuckle at your description 😂

  4. Thanks for the reviews - we’re really looking forward to our first transatlantic cruise on Arvia, we’ve been on Iona and at the time we said ‘bet it’ll be a bun fight for sun beds in warmer climates, there doesn’t look many of them’ fingers crossed our balcony will be on the sunny side 😂

  5. Hi we are looking at booking a cruise to Alaska in June 2023 - preferably aqua class A1 deck 11.  Have been looking at different views about loud movie/music noise on deck 12, roof top terrace and also doors banging near cabins, has anyone stayed in these cabins, did you find them noisy, what cabins are near the doors and was/could it be a problem.

We’ve been on other cruise lines, not particularly early risers but always before 9 and not early to bed although never manage to stay awake for late night disco ha ha.  Look forward to any help you can give with choosing cabin.

    Thanks

  6. I’m afraid we too got nervous with the Caribbean and yesterday cancelled our February Azura - final payment is due Sunday. There were too many port restrictions some ports having to take organised excursions (don’t mind that) but wasn’t prepared to have antigen test, chance a positive (even though I’m double and almost booster) and be removed from the ship, from reading other posts people are of a similar view and happy to stay on the ship which results in more days of hunting an available sun bed (not a single one available on a recent princess canaries ) and my idea of a Caribbean cruise is beautiful beaches and seas.
We originally booked this cruise 6 weeks ago and the price has fallen £225pp also checked available cabins - this close there wouldn’t be any available on deck 10 but there are plenty.  We didn’t loose our deposit but they did allow us to transfer it as another deposit to another cruise - Arvia in April 23.

Here is the link. Looks like mask wearing rules have been relaxed as well.

Hi thanks for the link - I’ve just checked about masks and it doesn’t look like anything has changed from our last staycation - mask whenever walking around the ship (except out on deck) and also in theatre (only moving to have a sip)  have I missed something in the latest faq -  it’s a nuisance wearing in the theatre but everyone seemed to be wearing.

also still confused about forms - do we or don’t we have to complete a form  (Spanish health form) if getting off ship in Spain  - my sister had to do one when driving into Spain this week.

  8. Have just spoken to Princess about forms required for landing in Spain and Portugal - they advised that it remains the responsibility of each passenger. The forms need to be completed within 48 hours of arrival.

Has anyone any thoughts or guidance as to whether or not we only need to complete a form ahead of Gran Canaria which then covers our arrival throughout the Canaries? I would assume the same applies for Madeira and the again for Vigo - not forgetting our arrival form for England.

Bottom line with this whole mess of a crap of an app is it should have been tested and re-tested before allowing the public to use it. I have seen some stupid things in my life but this app is one of the dumbest. I feel like it was done so we as passengers would do some of Princess's work

I keep a sticky note stuck to my computer and it certainly applies to Princess & the app. It says

People are entitled to be stupid but some people abuse the privilege.................. Princess needs to read that as I think it applies to cruise lines as well............lol

Ha ha I couldn’t agree with you more - have just got off Sky this morning (3night staycation) before cruising we had endless amount of stress loading the app only to find it had disappeared so had to follow up with endless phone calls !! Then once on ship had to get it reloaded again only to find it went as slow as a snails pace (no offence to snails) that’s if it wasn’t frozen or had crashed and had to be re loaded again !!! The service was slow (not the fault of the staff they were working their socks off hardly stopping for breath) the options limited and information non existent!!  On the plus side - I loved that it unlocked the cabin door ha ha.

This is our worry too and we suspect that Princess is really not going to enforce Covid protocols and just go through the motions......you would think that after all the bad PR they received early on in the pandemic that there would not be so cavalier......we are almost ready to jettison our bookings but are waiting to see how flu season will impact passengers on the ships along with Covid too.....

It is un-nerving what is happening on the ship you mentioned because you would hope the cruise companies would be transparent when they are having Covid outbreaks.....I am no so sure Princess would from what is being reported on mask wearing?

Don’t worry I’ve just got off Sky this morning and I felt very safe - masks are required when walking around or seated in the theatre and there are notices around also heard a couple of staff members reminding people when going into theatre- yes I saw a handful who were ignoring the rules but majority were observing the mask wearing rule

We were on Regal Princess in August (and back on Sky next week) and mask wearing was required everywhere outside of your cabin unless you were seated having a drink or eating.

I'm suprised (especially bearing in mind what seems to be unfolding on the MSC Virtuosa at the moment) that Princess have relaxed the rules to let you wander around without masks on,  it actually made us feel a little more secure onboard.

We have just got off Sky this morning and masks are most definitely required whenever walking around the ship (except out on deck) including seated in theatre- only time not required is when seated eating and drinking - definitely felt very safe

Hi what is the backup are they taking orders at the bar, or is it a case of calling someone over

The wait for drinks on Sky was long - not the bar staff fault they were working their absolute socks off, and if you managed to catch someone attention on the deck who was rushing around with a tray full of drinks trying to find the person who actually managed to order on the app - they would apologise and say they would try and get back to you - really not their fault the app is hopeless and when you consider ship was only two thirds full - it’s only going to get worse unless they sort it out !!!

  13. We are trying to sort through this at the moment - we have a cruise deposit on Princess for February in the Caribbean and have already paid for our flights to Miami (if we don’t fly we can get a credit but think it has to be used by end 2022 - need to look into it further).

Our other issue is we have another cruise booked and paid for to Canaries in October and we are having problems understanding testing issues - tests before / after etc with travelling between islands due to amber coding and time difference     being over 72 hours arriving back into uk.

Has anyone come across this yet and have any answers been forthcoming- if you have I’d love to hear your comments.

    thanks

    Gill

  14. Just had an email to say our sailing in February 2022 (Caribbean) has been changed from Crown Princes to Emerald - does any one know the reason behind it.

we’ve sailed on Crown before and I believe Emerald is the same and had a refit recently - have there been any significant changes.

    thanks
