You're not being entirely honest either.  The reason it was red was because of ONE crew member testing positive BEFORE any passengers were ever on board the ship.  If it was red for the first revenue sailing, it was only a carry over precaution from the prior crew member testing positive prior to embarkation with paying passengers.

Huh? Did I specify why it was red?  Whatever the reason for it was, the status was RED. Please just stop now... it's getting embarrassing.

Under the terms of the CDC CSO, as I understand it, if the ship is coded YELLOW, and the situation deteriorates from there, the company (NCL) and the CDC meet to determine if the ship should be coded RED and voyages are then halted. This could be the meeting coming up.

Ships have sailed red before, so just because a ship is coded red it doesn't mean sailings are halted.

We don't know yet how many additional positives they found when they tested everyone, do we?

That number would have been known yesterday (all tests were completed then) . So let's just say they found a ton of cases, NCL would have known then they would have be having a potential CDC threshold issue.

Well they finally updated the story. CDC issue, and there supposed to have a meeting in 15 minutes discussing the situation.

Why didn't they do this meeting hours ago. I don't see us getting on anytime soon

We may not be going anywhere

This makes little sense. 10 cases is not enough to trigger any kind of CDC issue. The thresholds are much higher than that.  There must be more to the story...

It seems crazy, NCL would take that position. News is already out. Keep us posted on how you are doing

Seems like the requirement to test everyone on the ship came from NOLA. There have been plenty of cases on ships over the past many months with no disembarking testing requirements. In any case, seems like they already completed the testing and the next cruise is going on as normal. Seems ridiculous that this even made the news.

I understand the headlline.  But why were these people tested?  Were they feeling ill and showing symptons?  If they were, there must be a lot more asymptomatic people onboard.

This is exactly why we need to stop testing vaccinated people with no symptoms.

most likely because of the new variant and the media needs any kind of covid story

It seems like it was originally publicized by the Louisiana dept. of health. So yea of course the media is eating it up because they love to talk about the cruise industry.  63 people tested positive on a KLM flight the other day... does anyone remember that being covered extensively?

  8. Hi! Can anyone who has recently been on Mariner tell me if there are any cigarette smell issues outside of the casino?  I have a friend who wants to join us on our cruise but is highly sensitive to smoke.  He won't be going into the casino but he is worried other areas nearby and on the royal promenade may still smell like smoke.  Any current or recent reports would be much appreciated!

We were got a Carnival letter in an email yesterday....when we booked the Oct 30th trip we figured this would go to Curacao instead as Bonnaire which has been closed.....we'd rather go to Curacao as our preference but we feel for those that really wanted Bonnaire....we just don't see them opening for some time - 2022 at best....

Sorry for the change for you - they should have sent you a notice.....seems so much correspondence some things may fall through the cracks but this is important.

Praying for a better world in 2022......too many have left us.....we heard our old pastor is being pulled from support today and may all our prayers be with him, family, and church....so sad....

I believe Celebrity Equinox called in Bonaire yesterday... so I guess they are open.

Carnival is increasing the requirement to wear masks indoors.  Specifically, for my cruise on Magic tomorrow (finally!) they sent out an email that noted there had been a few cases of COVID amongst the crew, and as a result they are "asking" that pax wears masks at all times when indoors, except when actively eating/drinking or in your cabin.

So...my wife and I will be spending a lot of time on the Lido deck and at Serenity, I guess!

This logic from Carnival (if this is actually the reason) makes no sense.  They have cases among the crew, so they are requiring guests to wear a mask more often? Umm.. gees Carnival needs to get it together.  I would politely so no thanks to this and cancel. Many other cruise lines like NCL and Celebrity have more guest friendly protocols in place.  Testing + vaccination is enough.

Thank you, I think I may cancel my pass then, I don't think I would be able to breathe in the sauna or steam room with a mask on

I highly doubt people are going into the steam room or sauna with a mask on. That is actually ridiculous and hazardous to health.  The insanity is getting a bit much to handle these days. I would imagine this is NOT enforced.
