Not true.  There is one other option.  But the cruiselines are terrified of Ron DeSantis apparently.

Not sure why you are saying that when Celebrity is going ahead with fully vaccinated cruises from FL as is Carnival. This is more about cruise lines being able to welcome families and children under 12 than it is about DeSantis.

No one gets fined for showing proof,, they are going to fine the Cruise Line for asking only.  Desantis said he WILL enforce the fine.  I see no reason why he wouldn't unless the courts remove the executive order.

DeSantis would look like a villain if he starts fining the very businesses he has been trying to get back up and running! He is NOT going to do that. What he says publicly and privately are two sperate things. What most people don't understand is that DeSantis and the cruise lines are on the SAME side. The cruise lines are all hoping that the ruling goes in FL's favor and the CSO is dissolved. You think the cruise lines want to be subjected to operate under such strict protocols that limit the amount of children they can have on-board? Absolutely not. So much is happening behind the scenes.

Maybe they want Desantis to see this? If unvaccinated cruises go as planned right now, won't be long until cruising is again shut down for those unvaccinated cruises? Royal will have no other choice..........Bye Bye Florida !!

HUH? Celebrity and Carnival (and NCL) are both requiring vaccines FROM FLORIDA. There is clearly a way to do it. Royal has chosen to go this route, for some reason which we do not fully understand.

Agreed. They warned folks over and over again. Continue caution and protocols for 5 weeks with Pfizer, 4 weeks with Moderna and at least 2 beyond J&J. Apparently RCI didn’t listen either. Go figure.

Do you honestly think it is reasonable for RCI to keep 1400 people in their cabins for 5 weeks?  I mean... seriously? They had protocols in place on board and did the best they could. That is really all there is to it. Humans cannot (and should not) isolate for weeks on end with no social contact, especially in an enclosed environment like a ship.  Humans are not robots.

in Europe there is no difference between vaccinated or unvaccinated - it is masks for everyone.

We have done such a cruise and felt much safer than we would feel on Millennium without masks. We have gotten so used to masks that we don’t see them as a problem.

Vaccinated people wearing masks is not necessary. If you would like to  wear one that is up to you, of course.

Just received pre-cruise email for our Apex Med cruise and it indicates masks will be required to be worn onboard indoors AND outdoors at all times, except while actively eating, drinking or in your stateroom.

On your own tours permitted in Greece and Cyprus; Celebrity curated tours required for Haifa/Ashdod.

Bit miffed that masks will be required OUTDOORS.  Otherwise, about what we expected when booking this cruise.

Outdoors? Yea... no thank you!  I'd be asking for a refund ASAP.

“According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, breakthrough cases are expected in a small percentage of people who are fully vaccinated. As of April 30, the agency said, 10,262 breakthrough cases were reported at a time when about 101 million people in the United States had been fully vaccinated.”

    https://www.washingtonpost.com/travel/2021/06/10/cruise-covid-celebrity-vaccine/

The number above is also very low because breakthrough cases do not typically rise to the level of someone feeling they need a test.  Most cases are very mild or completely asymptomatic.  Because they are testing all guests, there will most likely be more of these "breakthrough cases" than we would find in the real world.

What are they going to do with the results of the contact tracing I wonder.  Just tell them they might be exposed or quarantine them as well for the rest of the trip?

No. They have already tested them tonight, and once the results come back negative they will most likely just be released from their rooms.

The vaccine doesn't stop virus particles from getting in your nose. It just prevents illness and hospitalization. These PCR tests are so sensitive they will detect even small amounts of virus.

Exactly. No one seems to understand how this works... sometimes I feel like banging my head against the wall.

If it was two positives and that was the end, it wouldn’t be a huge deal…This is now developing situation, many more pax/crew members and locals may have been exposed and later test positive…Furthermore, ports/countries may demand ship run excursions “bubbles”

"Exposure" from an asymptomatic, fully vaccinated individual is really not much of an exposure.

My best guess is these are false positive results. Antigen have terrible rates of false positive. I’m waiting Until a second test is complete.

Agreed.  I have a feeling when they do their tests in St. Martin that they will quickly turn negative if not immediate then within a few days.

Agree, It IS far more serious. Mostly for those who choose not to get vaccinated. Those who cannot, they must be specially careful. Those who choose not to just because or they fear a side effect, might want to think more than twice on their decision. My family got covid19 at my grand sons birthday party. We were all very lucky and recovered. All of us got the vaccine except my son. He is one of those that feels it is not safe to get it. At least he has antibodies. His lady friend had to get the shot. She is a teacher.

Maybe he gave it to you... ever think of that? 🤔

The body being immune and the body being able to "deal with" COVID are two very different things. Tell the over 170 million people who have caught COVID and the families of the 3.4 million people who have died from it that the vast majority of people are immune.

I am not sure why you choose to take this argument anywhere other than the simple fact that this virus has an infection fatality rate between 0.3% and 0.7%. That means that around 99.5% of those who contract this virus survive due to the body's ability to fight this virus off with its own immune system. Now, with that said, a virus with a 0.5% mortality rate is still VERY serious!  If all 7.5B people on Earth contracted COVID-19, 37M people would die from it. That would be the equivalent of every person in the state of CA dying. That is certainly no laughing matter. BUT, that doesn't change the fact that the vast majority of humans have the ability to deal with COVID and survive. Siting these figures isn't positive or negative... it is just what it is.  Lastly, the original poster said "largely immune" which may have some truth.  Our bodies have dealt with Coronaviruses since we were born.  Our immune systems have seen similar viruses before.  We therefore are able to fight an immune response to a virus like COVID-19, albeit not as well as other viruses since this one is largely new to us.

If you take the time to read the many threads on the subject, you'll see why people care.

Could you cite any recognized study that concludes that the vast majority of the world's population is largely immune to COVID-19?

I think what this poster is saying is that for the VAST majority, the body is able to deal with COVID quite easily (mild to moderate symptoms like a cold/flu and sometimes not even that).  Obviously, that is not true for everyone (especially vulnerable/at-risk populations) hence the problem that COVID posed to society.

As of yesterday, the most recent changes in the CDC’s dropping masking requirements on vaccinated cruises was literally less than 24 hours old. I doubt that Celebrity had or has had time to process and absorb that, let alone decide what they wanted to do and train their call center agents on it.

Fain has already commented on this in his last video.  He does NOT believe masks are necessary once fully vaccinated.  The CDC now says the same thing.  I think they are in alignment so I don't see any reason why Celebrity would be mandating masks for fully vaccinated sailings.

All this information can be found here.

    https://disneycruiselineblog.com/2021/04/disney-cruise-line-publishes-important-information-for-2021-uk-staycations-including-a-vaccine-requirement-for-select-guests/

    Face Coverings

Face coverings are required for all Guests (ages 11 and up) and Crew Members, including those who have received a COVID-19 vaccine. Please bring your own face coverings and wear them at all times, except when dining, swimming or in your stateroom. You may temporarily remove your face covering while actively eating, drinking or taking an outdoor photo, but you must be stationary and maintain appropriate physical distancing during this time. It is recommended that children ages 3 to 10 wear a face covering at all times except in designated locations. All face coverings should fully cover an individual’s nose and mouth and allow the Guest to remain hands-free; fit snugly but comfortably against the side of the face; be secured with ties or ear loops; and be made of breathable material, either disposable or reusable. At this time based on guidance from health authorities, neck gaiters, open-chin triangle bandanas and face coverings containing valves, mesh material or holes of any kind are not acceptable face coverings.

What I explained is defined by Disney as active eating, defined below

Disney updated their policy recently to say when dining at a restaurant, guests must wear face coverings while standing, waiting, or sitting in dining locations. In other words guests must now keep their masks on unless they are actively eating or drinking at their table. **That means that unless you are taking a sip or a bite, your face covering should be on.**

    https://www.disneyfoodblog.com/2021/03/02/what-you-need-to-know-about-disneys-face-mask-policies/

This is something that only Disney and the airlines do, and has absolutely zero basis in science. Unfortunately too many people are more than happy to adhere to these inane rules, so Disney will not be changing them anytime soon.

Me, I am more than happy to vote with my wallet and go to a nice all-inclusive resort not run by idiots for the same price (or cheaper depending on what country you go to).

Just need to chime in here for a moment.  I live in Orlando and visit the Disney parks almost weekly. Restaurants DO require masks when you walk in and while you are walking around the restaurant. However, once you are seated at your table, you are able to remove the masks with no issues. You DO NOT have to wear your masks in between bites of food or anything else like that.  While I agree that masking is completely useless, especially after being vaccinated, I had to make sure that this incorrect information is not spread. Of course, what happens on the cruise ship could be different than what is currently happening at the parks.  However, I would venture to guess Disney knows enough to realize that guests will not tolerate putting their masks on in between bites of food.

  17. Their plan looks a lot less invasive than what Costa put out yesterday.  It does talk about their hope for rapid Covid-19 testing at the pier.  I have said from the beginning that that would be a way the cruise industry could get up and running sooner.  In my opinion, if you get that in place, you may be able to relax some of the social distancing policies.  It does seem like masks may be required from what they have put out.

Certainly a loss was expected, you are correct, hard not to have one without revenue coming in the door.  That said, no company can continue with multi billion dollar losses every quarter.  Keep in mind, that of the big 4, Carnival is in the BEST position.  NCL is in a world of hurt.

I disagree with that.  They assume these losses and they are all capable of surviving into early 2021 with no cruise revenue.
