  1. We LOVED our cruise so although some of these things are a bit critical, I mean them just to be informational as we have done YC before on other ships & will continue to do so.. We have already rebooked. Seashore will not be in Miami when we go so we will try the Seascape. Surprising flaws for a new ship. We were in cabin 16026 RS The ceiling above the deck had so much rust that there were actually paint chips that fell off on to the deck. In the bathroom there are 2 shelves on either side of the sink. Towel racks above each so you had to move the towel to open a drawer. If you are short, you might not be able to access the safe as it is small and pushed way back on the shelf. Tons of shelves in the cabin but most shallow. The cabinet with the deepest drawers is blocked by a mini sofa. Internet VERY slow. TV would cut in & out. I was shocked to see they still charged for movies. Used to be $4.99 now $8.99. Used to be 1/2 dozen snacks in the mini bar that would be replaced. Now 2, nuts & pringles & charged if replace. No more mini liquor bottles but you can each get a full size bottle. The sign for breakfast that you hang on the door said it starts at 7am. I tended to get up early & called between 5a & 6a for coffee & pastry. Only about 5 minutes until delivered. Big design flaw right outside the 16th floor entrance to the YC....the entrance...marble floors to the elevators....then , just past that is the Jungle Pool area. There is so much humidity from that area that the marble floors tend to be a bit slick. They had several fans going the whole time we were there to try & keep those floors dry. Also small warning signs on the walls. Pool Grill constantly great. We had breakfast here every morning and most lunches. Not advertised but they will make you eggs benedict there. Ask for extra sauce :O) Did you know they also serve ice cream there ? just ask YC lounge was great. Nice live music. great snacks all the time. At 9pm that put out some Venchi chocolates. YC restaurant very good. I mainly ordered off the every day side. Salmon & Filet Mignon always fabulous. I usually tell them in the morning of Italian night that we eat in the MDR but I forgot so we stayed in the YC restaurant. Waiters wore some Italian colors but that was it. No Italian music, no pasta dishes. I mention it o the waiter. He said the MDR is the place to go on Italian night because it is much more festive. BUT....all the good out ways the rest. Service was great, food was great, beds very comfortable. Pool deck never crowded. Butlers are the best. I had forgotten how they get you off the ship in different ports by bypassing the lines. And in a tender port where everyone else had to go to the theater to get there tender tickets, we just waltzed off. It is like most people say...Yacht Club is about the experience.
  2. Since this got resolved, I am really sorry about the posting. I really love MSC and the majority of their employees are great. Just a shame it takes one bad employee to ruin some of you time. And, then after wards, you feel kind of helpless to do anything about it..
  3. Sorry I cannot explain better. See where those rocks go up high ? you must go past that to the other side. IF YOU JUST GO AROUND TO THE OTHER SIDE OF THE RESTAURANT, you can easily accomplish that. ! Probably why so many vacant loungers there !
  4. This is a cruise blog :O) I would be on another site if someone died. At the time it was a bit horrific to me because we only booked because of the discount & once you are off the ship you are pretty much stuck trying to resolve anything. sorry....perhaps I should have just said something like....screwed by the next cruise booking consultant !
  5. When you are on that beach.....just follow the shore to the right. NO large stones. Really not even small rocks.
  6. Just walk around the restaurant where they leave you off. You can't miss it. YC tent guy with towels. Lots of chaise lounges & umbrellas. To JAGR...do not know what the TC kitchen/shed is and we never ventured to the porta pottys. There was a bathroom at the restaurant.
  7. I had read so much about how rocky the beach was on Ocean Cay that I brought beach shoes & was prepared to walk awhile to get to another beach. The YC area is quite a ways from the dock. They have a golf cart like vehicle that takes you out there & back. It drops you in front of the YC restaurant. I looked over & it was indeed rocky. I would actually say small boulders ! BUT, lucky for us, we walked around to the other side of the restaurant. Totally sandy beach & yc guy there to give you towels. You could also walk a ways out in the water and it was not to deep. It was wonderful. We spoke to some other passengers when we got back & they were on the rocky side & had no idea the other existed ! Also, the restaurant, Everyone speaks very highly of the lobsters rolls there but I decided to try a burger & fries...excellent. There is lots of outdoor seating, under trees or on the porch with overhead fans. I needed a bit more air conditioning so went inside. There are ONLY 2 tables in there ! Luckily one was open. There is also a small couch and coffee table which another couple promptly took. I was very comfortable inside but there is a bit of noise from the blenders as they make a lot of tropical drinks.
  8. It DID come from her. I specifically asked about the deposit !
  9. PROBLEM SOLVED.....WAHOO... Just received a corrected contract showing the discount. Must have been done on the ship as I made such a stink about it before I left. The night before we disembarked, there were 2 others beside myself trying to get their paperwork. She should be fired ! I was just going to call the casino club when they opened & plead my case but now I am spared that. BUT, something else I need to check on. mscdivina2016 just said YC deposits are NOT refundable. I have read that elsewhere on these boards BUT the lady that booked this cruise said that was all wrong. There would be a $50. cancellation fee & the rest of the deposit would be refunded. and yes, we booked a YC. Love the new YCP (grand) cabins. I feel a walkin closet as a lot to those cabins. thanks to all that replied :O)
  10. You can do nothing without the code on the paper. The TA needs this. My mistake for not copying it down. It should have been returned to me. We booked the cruise with her because we had the 30% discount. That is a lot of $$$. I do not want to have to cancel.
  11. thanks for the reply... the problem is she took the discount paper saying she was going to make a copy and give it back to me which she never did. Otherwise, I could even just cancel her booking & rebook using the code on the paper. I hate dumping something so complicated on my TA as it seems TA'S & MSC take awhile to communicate together. I will try the casino dept. when they open tomorrow but the MSC lady I spoke to today said they probably will not talk to me because the other TA is listed.
  12. Off the Seashore yesterday, Yacht club. They wanted us to leave by 9am
  13. Just got off the Seashore yesterday, fantastic cruise. Great employees....except 1... Played a lot in the casino. Head guy Floyd was great. Those of you that play in the casino know about the 30% discount coupon. I usually use a travel agent but unfortunately decide to rebook onboard. A blond named Susona (I think)....did the booking & took the discount paper & said she would copy my usual agent & return the discount paper.. We paid the downpayment, she made the booking with NO 30% discount. She left me her ext. number if questions. I called, no answer & no way to leave a message. The next day I could not find her but her partner was there & said it was just a mistake & she would fix it & get me my original discount paper back. Of course that did not happen. That was the night before we left. I drove the concierge crazy in the middle of the night about this. He kept trying to call her & no answer or way to leave a message. This is very sad to me because we only booked because of that discount. I just got off the phone with MSC. They said they could not discuss it with me because I booked through a travel agent. I said that was not so. I booked onboard. They said that since their agent copied my usual agent....it was no longer their booking ! PLEASE, ANY SUGGESTIONS TO TRY AND RESOLVE THIS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.
  14. I find them very accommodating. We actually booked 1 month past the expiration date. Wanted a YC3 which would not have been affordable without the coupon. That was the soonest date around the time we could go that one of those categories was available so they made the exception. There are only 2 of those on each ship.
  15. Seems so much easier with a travel agent. Never had to 'email' the certificate. I would say the price is adjusted within a week.
  16. We have used that certificate many times. I ALWAYS book through my favorite internet travel agent. They throw in free gratuities & OBC. THEN I call the casino department at MSC & give them the booking number, They go in and adjust the 30%percent off the total. Remember this does not apply to port charges & taxes. Never had a problem. That is why I say the MSC casino club is the best at sea. the other cruiselines make you book directly with them. That way you miss out on added perks from a travel agent.
  17. These are very different from the cabanas on some of the other MSC ships. I realize these are free unlike the others where you pay. On the other ships, cabanas are reserved for you automatically if you are in a YC3 cabin. Does anyone know if this is true on the ships where they are free ? I understand they get taken quite quickly since there is no charge. thanks
  18. What kind of guarantee cabin did you book ? Balcony ? Suite ? If so, do not worry, you will get something in at least that category & maybe even something better. Unfortunately for us, the cruise I was referring to was a real lesson learner. We booked something called 'run of the ship'. It turned out to be the worst cabin on the ship.
  19. We used to do guarantee cabins years ago. Once we did not get our cabin assignment until we were at the dock.
  20. Looks like it. I am thrilled. We sail in less than 2 weeks !
  21. We always sail YC. On formal nights, my husband does wear a jacket but no longer a tie. I wear black pants & a fancy top. Some are dressed more formal than us & some less.....a lot less :O) We are getting OLD and falling a part....so comfort has now come in to play :O)
  22. We started sailing MSC before the Yacht Club started. Basically because of price & itinerary. Most differences because of culture things that a lot of Americans are not used to. Entertainment.... You will not see comedians because of language difference among the passengers. Coffee was always VERY strong for me. Now they have added 'American' coffee. Their egg dishes seemed a bit different. It was then explained to me that they cook/fry their eggs in olive oil, not butter. Pasta , al dente, etc. Now their ships have gotten a bit bigger & more Americanized (we only sail in the Caribbean) Because of some of the changes, including the ships seeming to be much more crowded. We ONLY sail in the yacht club. It is really over the top & worth the extra $$....remember it also include your drink package & wifi. AND....if you play in the casino...after a few days you get a 30% off your next cruise certificate. It does have an expiration date on it but we always immediately book another YC cabin with it. AND, if problems with your booking, you can call the casino people for help and not the main MSC phone number. These people are amazing. Awhile back, I had to cancel our cruise just a few weeks before sailing because I had to get a knee replacement. we ha NO insurance. They were very nice & pushed out our date with no penalty. I am sure if I called the main number, they would have been very sympathetic, & then explained to me the value of insurance before telling me I lost everything.
