I totally agree.
The cruise ship operators are really upsetting the majority of their pax by still allowing any smoking at all in an indoor venue. I.e. The casino
In this day and age where everything has to be PC it's insulting that the ships still allow indoor smoking even if just in the casino
Shows how much they consider their pax health and well being especially since so few pax actually smoke
It just appears that lots of pax smoke because they all pack into the casino to smoke not gamble
Disclaimer: don't say go sail on X because I shouldn't have to do that unless I want to. What needs to happen is to eliminate smoking at all indoor venues on all ships on all lines. However I would actually concede to a additional smoking casino as long as it was in a remote corner of the ship and not near anyplace any pax would want to go to and that it was totally vented out to sea and not waifing back into a 3 story atrium near food venues

Since when is it the cruise company’s responsibility to look out after the health of their customers. Their responsibility is to make money and increase my stock price. I am not a smoker and would love smoke free cruises, but it’s silly to think that a cruise company should do something if it costs them money and I bet they have done a cost benefit analysis of the smoking areas and have decided the policy that way

I hope this doesn’t change, I always like to second hand smoke when I gamble!

Smith and Kearns for our after dinner drink, yum!

Knew I could count on cruise critic to get the right advice.

Sailing on Harmony in a few weeks and booked late. All reservations for my time dining are taken for the first few nights. What do we do? Literally nothing is available except late at night. Any ideas from the huge ship veterans? First time on this class of ship and wondering if it was a mistake. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Tewkewl, you can relax. If you really want to see a show you will be able to find a way. Don’t be afraid to ask and just enjoy the trip. If you don’t see something you thought you wanted, the great thing about a ship this size is that there are dozens of other things to do. Relax and have a great time. We booked late and can’t even get reservations for my time dining, but something tells me that if we are patient we will be fed. We may have to have a beverage or two while waiting, but I am pretty sure it won’t effect our cruise.

I almost came out of my bubble to live finally. I am now going to stay. Tough to get the bubble on the ship though.

If you like the current price, pay it. If not don’t. I hate when people complain about price, it is what it is and they are in the business of maximizing profit.

Haven’t seen planes with that much room since the 60’s. I would wear a suit if I could get that much room, but I refuse to pay anymore than coach? Yes, sarcasm.

Wait, there isn’t a dress code at Golden Corral?

We used Victor Boden and loved it. We had a driver for the day. She took us to all the usual spots, but also took us to her home. It was a great day and had the best lunch at her recommendation at a little shack on the beach. Just a great day that we still talk about 5 years later. It was about $100 for 3 of us, but we did tip her quite a bit because she was fantastic.

We are going to a friends wedding on the Carnival Liberty, do they have an elegant night on a 3-day cruise?

We love St John. St Thomas is busier but also beautiful. If you go to St John think about Cinnamon Beach, it’s quieter and just as beautiful as trunk bay. We’ve done it on our own and used the ship excursion to self explore. Do the ship one if you are nervous about the return.

If people would just follow the rules and not try to cheat to save a buck it wouldn’t ever be an issue.

I hope the internet prices go way up because I don’t want to pay for any upgrades to internet speeds with my cruise fare.

Hi all,
I think we should start a campaign for RCCL to set a cruise industry first by offering free wifi on all RCCL ships.
Wifi is quickly becoming apart of everyday life for so many people, for so many different reasons that it seems old fashioned to charge for wifi. It really would be WOW if RCCL offered free wifi.
It's just an idea....
Absolutely not!!! I don't want to use wifi on the ship when I cruise so I don't want to pay for you to use it. When I take a vacation I want to get away from work and constant communication. I don't care if you want to use it and be connected 24 hours a day, but I don't want to pay for it!!

I've been on two Carnival cruises and have booked my first RCCL cruise. I look forward to doing an unbiased comparison between the two lines when I return. I didn't ask "RCCL or Carnival?" because I know that every person's experiences are different and very subjective especially when they have never cruised one line or the other! I chose RCCL for the activities on the ship that will thrill my teens and secondly for the itinerary. If Carnival had a ship with ice skating, 3D theatre, rock wall I probably would have continued on with Carnival because I like it! I've seen many of the threads on here asking people to compare the two and many people have said that the two are more alike than different and quite a few have mentioned that the food is actually better on Carnival. I sure hope RCCL has generators as well since there very well could be a power failure on any RCCL ship just as with Carnival!
We have sailed on all the major lines multiple times and each has its own place. Actually the best food we ever had was on a Carnival ship, even compared with Celebrity. Anyone that thinks one line is always better than another is just wrong.

We own RCL stock so lets hope people keep paying those prices. Yipppeee!

The travel industry is pretty competitive, they will do what they need to do to fill their ships. It will be interesting to see how they choose to compete with the all-inclusive resorts since they have chosen to focus quite a bit of attention in increasing on-board expenditures of their cruisers. The new ships seem to have lots of extra expenses, while the on-shore resorts seem to be trending towards the all-inclusive options.

And yet the ships are full, even with smoking casinos. You have to vote with your pocketbook. Catch 22, would like cheaper cruises, but own stock and would like to make money. Hmmmmmmmmmm, what a conundrum.
