  1. I have a job where I deal with the public all the time and we always get crackpots calling to try and pull something funny to get some kind of discount. After a while you get a little callous to that call, especially if the first reaction to "I can't do that" is wha, wha, wha!!! Take it easy and relax, use a little tact and you can get things done. The people answering the phones are not paid $100,000 to put up with the crackpots, so maybe be a little compassionate. Yes, they should be bright, cheery, wonderful people to all who call, but it gets old when you deal with the morons too often.

  2. Invariably the best tippers are the people who have depended on them for their living. That being said I was told by a head waiter at a very nice restaurant that if you receive bad service leave nothing, not a small amount because if you leave a small amount they just think you are cheap. If you leave nothing maybe they get the idea. Out of the country, especially in the Caribbean I always try to tip at least something in almost every circumstance because we are so fortunate to live in a country where we have so much and a small amount can make a huge difference. Generosity will always come back to you somewhere, somehow!!!

  3. My wife an I took a cab to the Butter Fly Farm on St. Marteen. After we had toured the farm we asked for the owner to call a cab for us to get back to the pier. He just kind of laughed and said that with 6 ships in town that no cab would come all the way out to them to pick up just 2 people. We asked what to do and he suggested we walk to Orient Beach. He pointed to a parasail and told us to walk towards it and we would bump into the beach at some point. After walking for awhile and feeling nervous that we were lost we finally found some people that directed us to the beach. Learned to plan ahead for transportation.

  4. Honestly though their call centers need work to! I was on hold for 2 hours tonight, which isn't what I'm upset about. What I'm upset about was when I got someone on the phone, it took them half an hour to fix my problem and then another HOUR to give me advice on my cruise and try and convince me to purchase a drink package and specialty dinning package :0 No wonder there is such a long hold time. The "cruise specialists" are more interested in chatting you up and trying to sell you something then moving along and getting to the next customer. Has anyone else had this issue!?

Whenever I call my travel agent I get helped immediately and always get the best price. Why bother with a large company when you can pay an expert to do it for you for exactly the same cost as doing it yourself?
