Thanks for the Pompeii feedback, we will also be doing cannes again, but as we have done it before we intend doing Monaco this time, how accessible are the trains? and maybe throwing in nice too!!
-
Embarrassed to admit that I did not know all that much about Pompeii.....and it was the last visit on our LONG excursion (booked thru NCL) but we were truly overwhelmed with the history and astonished at this lost civilization. For us, it was TOTALLY worth it! But again, we also had seen Sorrento and Positano earlier in the day. For me, the part that they could skip is the visit to the Limoncello factory! All else was great!
Thanks its a while away and haven't done the research but i think im sold now, we only walked about naples last time which is as i'm sure many know not the prettiest city and we have options for other "ship days" so Pompeii it is! There is an option for
Pompeii & Enchanting Sorrento which is about $100 pp so i think i will take this up. Don't think we could justify the $210pp for
Flavors of Sorrento & Pompeii. Thanks!

anyone else going on this cruise?
Yes we are, my wife and I. Our fourth cruise and 2nd spin on the Epic. Although first time was from Barcelona. Looking forward to spending some time in Italy prior.

I’m not sure if this applies in the US. But here in Europe I have found prepayment of tips worked out slightly Cheaper. Possibly due to a favourable conversion.

So we’re picking up the Epic in Rome, which means Barcelona will be a shore day for us. As we have been there often we will most likely just do the city on our own so I am wondering how will we get out of port. Will there be an issue getting a cab as 3500+ people will be disembarking? Also as we board mid cruise will reserving shows etc be a problem. Will they be booked up by passengers who got on in Barcelona? I’m happy we are getting on in Rome as we have done the “regular “ route before but is there anything else to watch out regarding getting on mid cruise?

Yup it’s good. You got grandfathered in as you must have booked the cruise before the change in levels. I am only in 48 points but at gold, as 48 was the old gold level. Enjoy [emoji3]

Both great ships but the Escape "crowds" loses it many points, especially regarding entertainment! The epic cabin designs were never an issue for us nor the bathrooms a lot of fuss made over nothing as far as we were concerned! Back on Epic next year and cant wait!

Surf n turf. Excellent service as per. Would gladly do it again. The tasting was synchronised with the three person Show and was a lot of fun.

We saw “wine lovers the musical”. In May. If I remember it was $27 pp. worth every penny. Great meal, great Show, and wine tasting was fun. Value for money.

Since the introduction of the sdp the quality has suffered. Guests who wouldn’t use this amenity are now overwhelming the restaurants. And service and quality is way down. It should be pay to dine only.

Only 'incentive' is being able to have the biggest choice of rooms. Probably key if you want a specific location.
Yep we booked 4 weeks ago for next October to get a specific large balcony room on the ships bump. These go fast and we also got a great price which has went up $150pp already.

Recently off the escape, and we saw this. We didn’t know what to expect but we’re somewhat pleasantly surprised. A nice way to spend the afternoon. Light entertainment but enjoyable. Surf and turf set menu. Service was excellent and the wines were whilst not award winning, fine. 6 glases and a prosecco if i remember correctly, but keep in mind they are not full glasses so over the duration of the show it was manageable. The table beside us barely touched a drop all eight of them!! Why go?? Anyhow we would gladly go again.

Personally, I never eliminate the option of just going to the airport early and getting ripped at the bars there.

That will always be a top tier option!

Perfect, Many thanks, this is pretty much what we will do now I recon. A quick uber here should sort us out.

If the weather is nice I would second the South Beach option. You can leave your bags at Luggage Lounge and get an extra beach day out of it!
This sounds good where is the luggage lounge?

Hi we will disembark the Escape in may at 9am (27th May) but or flight is not until 5pm i'm sure we can do plenty in that time but what can we do with our luggage. The NCL excursions don't really work for us, so are there other options?
-
The advantage of the 7:15 trip is that you get your pick of chairs when you arrive at Jost Van Dyke. I believe we left the island around 11:15 or 11:30. By the time the Rebel Yell returned with the second group, there were no chairs available near Soggy Dollar, but there were plenty available at the other bars.
The disadvantage is that if you want to drink, you have to be okay with drinking early. But, if you want to avoid really drunk people, the earlier trip may be better for you. Also, Soggy Dollar doesn't serve lunch until around 11:00, so food options are a bit limited if you want something to snack on.
We're on the Escape again in 2018 and we plan on doing the same excursion at the same time.
By the way, don't count on the top of the boat staying dry. One of the people in our group sat there on the way back and she was completely soaked. She said the captain would aim for the swells and then duck. The water was really rough the day we were there, but the ride to and from was a blast.
Excellent info thanks! The availability of chairs is definitely a bonus then, and i'm sure we'll manage a couple of early painkillers, we'll just have an early night b4 hand. And getting back to base about noon gives us a little time to walk around port. I will be booking this tonight. Thanks once again :)

Hi we are looking at this for May and noticed there are 2 departure options as mentioned 7.15 and 9.15. Does one have an advantage over another? like more shore time? I guess if we get the early one there would be some time back at port before all aboard.

You may find you have quite a long wait i`m afraid as i can`t see much change for quite a while .
you may be safer just booking through the uk site for now as you won`t have to worry about exchange rates .
Possibly but i voted remain so my conscious is clear :)

I think you've got it the wrong way round. With the pound being so weak at the moment, booking anything in dollars will be more expensive, not cheaper.
You may get a deal, but the current exchange rate makes that less likely.
Yeah I did!! [emoji31]Gona hang off for Better pound.

Hi there is a cruise we have seen Bliss 6 day Pacific coast for next year, last week September, which we fancy but dates v vacation time don’t add up. So will this cruise most likely sail the following year or when will 2020 fall cruises be up? Thanks
