  1. That wasn’t the case when we were looking this summer. I tried to go back to screenshot prices, but they sold out. We found the value for the YC to be better than Celebrity at that time, and Royal’s prices were just crazy. We still love Celebrity (we’ve only sailed with them twice, once in concierge class, the other aqua) and will continue cruising with them. They were my first choice until I saw their prices for next month. However, we may end up loving the yacht club.
  2. But you can’t touch a suite on those lines for the price of the YC.
  3. I found their YC pricing comparable to a Veranda on Celebrity or Royal.
  4. I just received an email that said we have an assigned boarding time, that I will see on my embarkation form. Is that what we can get 20 days before sailing? I assume we can show up whenever we want. Correct?
  5. IMO, if you liked Princess, you will love Celebrity. Princess is the only cruiseline where I really didn't have a good time. It was ok, but I recall being vey disappointed. I found their food bland, dinner service was way too slow, to the point where we were always late to the shows (partly to blame on our table companions that always arrived late, then ordered apps, dinner and dessert-so frustrating!) and the entertainment quite boring. This was several years ago, so I don't know that I'd feel the same if we ever tried them again. At this point my ratings would be 1. Celebrity, 2. NCL, 3. Carnival, 4. Princess. This will be our first with MSC so I don't know where they will fall.
  6. Thanks for sharing! We are booked on the Seaside in the YC in June. This is making me even more excited! It’s so refreshing to see someone thrilled with MSC.
  7. Thanks! I will try to take two nicer dresses and have dh bring two dress shirts.
  8. Thanks for clearing that up. We will go in with proper expectations so we won’t be disappointed.
  9. We’re at $594/pp/day for a sky suite next summer on the Equinox. We do have $1350 in OBC, which helps somewhat. Crazy!! We’re only paying it because it’s our 30th anniversary. However, we’re cruising with MSC next month in the yacht club. If we love it we’re seriously considering canceling and booking with them if we can save a few thousand.
  10. Yes, I’m sure we will leave the YC after dinner to go to shows and such. I love silent discos and it would be very disappointing if young children are in the way in the dance floor! I agree, Celebrity does have excellent service! You can’t go wrong with Celebrity! We have a cruise booked with them next summer. We were looking at Celebrity and Carnival for this last minute cruise and picked MSC because of the value, a suite experience with drinks and Wi-Fi, verses inside cabins on the other two. Just couldn’t pass up our first suite experience at this price! I’m curious to see how the YC compares to the Retreat. What didn’t you like about the YC, that you would rate it so poorly? I’ve read mostly great things about the YC. I’m not a foodie so that’s not a big factor. Give me some protein and a veggie and I’m good.
  11. Will there be one formal evening on a 7 night cruise?
  12. I understand that. I’m not new to cruising, just to MSC. I always like to get there, everywhere really, early. We will have a 90 minute drive, without traffic, so we’ll most likely leave around 8:30 and not worry about traffic conditions. They don’t have nicer seating in the YC waiting area? Celebrity does so I just expected it. And I thought I saw a video where they were serving Champaign while passengers were waiting there.
  13. I emailed my travel agent about a cruise we just booked a few days ago and he said he will not work with MSC. I don't know if that's common among travel agents or not. Ours doesn't work with Carnival or NCL either. He said he specializes in luxury lines. We booked the yacht club, I would consider that luxury. Normally he does give us onboard credit and we like dealing with him directly, but in this case we book with MSC. However, our cruise is in 41 days so hopefully I don't need to contact customer service.
  14. Fortunately, yes. We have the retreat booked for Europe next summer.
  15. Seaside out of Port Canaveral, June 25-July 2.
  16. We just booked yesterday and did our online check-in today. They did not give us a port arrival time. What is the earliest we should arrive? I’m always anxious to get on the ship as soon as possible! I did see where there is a special tent for YC guests and that we have our own waiting area, but no details on check-in or boarding times.
