  1. I decided that I'm too much of a control freak for a balcony guarantee so I pulled the trigger on an angled balcony room, 10784. If I was going to pay to select my room, I really wanted the added space that the angled balcony offers and I wanted the bed on the balcony side. Since we're only 4 months from sailing, I thought I was lucky in getting what I wanted but I am now questioning if it was the right move given the proximity to the elevators, stairs and studio lounge. Should I be concerned or should I just take a deep breath?

    Thanks!

Take a deep breath! ;-) I just got off the Breakaway yesterday. My stateroom was a few rooms away-10166. I thought it was a good location- generally very quiet.

  2. Has anyone ever cruised out of New York City during the winter? How is the ocean and motion? Is it too cold to swim on the Breakaway during the winter months?

I cruised from Bayonne, NJ a few years ago during Thanksgiving. The Celebrity ship I was on had an indoor pool so I used that the first sea day since it was still chilly out. I do not recall a rough sailing at all. I do not get sea sick.

I just got off the Breakaway yesterday. Had a lovely time!

  3. Is it possible to exchange an excursion? Strangely, the one I wanted to book was not showing as available a few weeks ago so I booked similar one. I just happened to check myNCL again, and noticed my originally desired excursion is back as an option.

Definitely not the end of the world, but was wondering if this was possible / easy. Anyone know how / have any experience?

I would believe you can call NCL and you can get the one you want. There are various phone numbers listed on their website.

On one of my cruises- a family member as a surprise booked an excursion for me onboard. They choose a different one then the one I spoke about. Simply went to the shore excursion desk and changed to the one I really wanted with no problem at all since there was still space.

  4. I know nothing about the POA but is she going into drydock (I think that is what it is called) soon? I am looking at Hawaii and NCL is the only one that fits my time frame. I have read many times that POA is looking pretty worn. Now the ship isn't why I take a cruise but if I am paying that much I would like it to be nice.

Was on POA in November. I am very picky. She was not old looking. The stateroom bathrooms could have used a bit of updating but they were clean! Had a great time and the staff was great too. Highly recommend!

Just think of POA as a floating hotel. Most of the day you are off the ship exploring the beautiful hawaiian islands.

  5. I'm glad I could help with your POA cruise! We are definitely looking forward to our first visit to Bermuda this summer - maybe you'll return next month with some tips to share :) I really enjoyed the cruise to nowhere we took on Breakaway, but I know this next trip will be much different!

I can't help with your question but Bermuda is beautiful! Was there twice on cruises. I went to Horseshoe Bay. St George's is so quaint you should make sure you walk around there! Do you like perfume? My favorite is Lili Bermuda! My first time to Bermuda I went to their store/factory. So cute! http://www.bermuda-perfumery.com

I can't wait to get another bottle or two!

Make sure you book your entertainment in advance so you can get the days/times for the 3 shows-if you are planning to go to them.

Over the summer I was on a ship tour. So I got to see most of the Breakaway and had a nice lunch!

This cruise was booked this past Thursday! So I am trying to do some research to see what we might want to do this time. I need some rest and relaxation too! Since Hawaii things have been quite hectic!

  6. We will be renting a pontoon boat for an all day trip in August and are debating between packing a picnic / box lunch or grabbing something at a restaurant with a dock. For those of you who know Bermuda well, what lunch places would you recommend where we could tie up the boat, stretch our legs, get some yummy local food, and then head back out? Thanks! :)

    Hi-

I just came across your post since I am planning a last minute cruise on the Breakaway to Bermuda for Mother's Day. I was on the POA over this past Thanksgiving. You posted a lot of helpful & detailed for that trip! :-) Thank you! It helped with my family's planning. Now I see you are going on the Breakaway again!

    Thanks again!

  7. I was on the POA this past November. I used Ricky in Hilo and Mary Lou in Kona. Both great experiences. The difference is that Mary Lou gets out with you at every stop and gives you info as she walks around with you and she or her husband, Ken, take smaller groups. Met Ken too and his group really liked him too!

Both very knowledgable, professional and pleasant to deal with!!

  8. The walk probably won't be long but why would you pay for car service that doesn't drop you off right in front of the terminal?!? I went on POA in November and there were plenty of cabs and car services that were dropping off passengers right in front of the terminal. I took a cab, many of them are mini vans, from my hotel but during my stay I also used johnny cab. Very nice and prompt!

  9. On 11/21 there were a whole bunch of turtles there yoshi right on the beach and the volunteers put signs up with info re: each turtle. It was amazing!! I was talking to a volunteer and she said we were lucky to see so many there!

City of Refuge in Kona had a bunch swimming too.

  10. I plan to rent a car from either thrifty or budget while in Maui. I am told it is very easy b/c there are shuttles that come to the pier that Pride of America docks at and takes you to OGG airport.

I called both companies and I am still a bit confused. I am going to a luau and would like to drop the car off at the airport after the luau. Did anyone drop off the car around 10pm and was still able to get a shuttle back to the pier?

Any guidance would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks!
