Yes, my last MSC cruise got moved from an inside to a Aurea balcony for no apparent reason. Was not upset at all. We were with other people too and didn't care how close we were. Not like we had to drive to get to their cabin.
Thanks and we were afraid of that. Little more complex for us. Our 3 cabins comprise of 1 17yo in an inside, 2 20yo in a balcony and ours, parents in a balcony beside the other balcony. the inside is across from ours. So it will be an issue if they decide to move the 17yo to some other deck.
Thanks

So, we got our daily upgrade offer emails and the prices are getting pretty attractive If it was just us cruising, we would do it in a heartbeat, however, we have three cabins and want to keep them together so it got us thinking, what is the possibility of them automatically upgrading us if they are unable to sell those cabins? I think we chose that option when we originally booked and in our 30+ cruises, we have never just been upgraded without paying, but given the fact that this particular cruise we dont want to be upgraded, we are concerned. Anyone every just been upgraded without paying on MSC? thx
-
Our cruise is about 2 weeks out and we get upgrade offers almost daily and they are getting less expensive. Is this normal for MSC and if so how close to the sailing date should i wait to make a bid? This seems really close to the sail date given on other lines we have done this on, NCL, we were given one opportunity to make a bid and we knew we won it at least a month out.
Maybe the cruise isnt fully booked yet? We have three cabins and they seem to be targeting our 1 interior cabin pretty heavily.

Thank you and i didnt know you could check your bags in that early. Totally agree about the risk of something happening to them and i dont want that to happen, but we are heading home and although it would be inconvenient to track it down, it wouldnt be the end of the world. We hide airtags in our luggage so we can at least confirm that they made it to the plane.
thanks again

So, quick follow up on this. I found that if i created MSC account for one of the people in the other 2 cabins that would now allow us to print the boarding documents. This was in lieu of using the booking ID number and name to access the reservation like i was doing for the other 2 cabins. It also allowed me to see other items such as shore excursions that we booked, free drinks and wifi that came with the cruise etc. None of that was viewable until we created an account and associated those reservations to that new account.
Odd IT glitch. I was racking my brain over the weekend as to why i could print for 1 cabin, but not the other two and figured the only difference was the 1 cabin reservation had a MSC website account associated with it.

Does anyone know if MSC at the Miami port has airline luggage check in? Or if we purchase the MSC transfers, will they check our bags or just dump us at the MIA curb?
Our flight isnt until 3pm and based on our last couple of cruises, the latest we can stay on the ship in around 930. I dont think the airport is going to let us check in our bags at around 10, but i may be wrong about that. Maybe if we use curbside checkin?
thanks

So i was able to print them for our cabin, parents, on the website, but not for our kids that are under 21. However, i was able to check them in on their phone app.
I do think we are going to have some challenges with the cabin that only has one person in it, but is booked for 2. I cant check that person in because its a made up name. Hopefully i can get the documents for the 1 person i did check in.

Hi, does anyone know what happens when you show up to the port without your tickets/luggage tags? Apparently, after we checked in, our TA get the tickets, however we havent been able to get a hold of her. Needless to say, we will be looking for another TA, however, that doesnt help us for this cruise. We cruise in 2 weeks and everything looks correct on the app, it just says we have to contact the TA tickets and luggage tags.
thanks
-
We completed the check in process and are within 15 days of our cruise, but it wont allow us to print our tickets. It says to please contact your travel agency to retrieve the tickets. Is that normal? We have bought cruises through TAs many times in the past, but have always been able to print our own tickets on other lines. In fact, most are just 2d barcodes in the app. Does this seem normal?
thx

Well, we will have a definitive answer for your first question in about 2 weeks. We have have a single booked in a double occupancy cabin for the june 11 sailing on Seascape. Paid full price for 'both' people. We dont plan on attempting to cancel the second person before the cruise because it was a pain in the you know what getting our shore excursions, dinner reservations, etc straight so we dont want to touch anything before we get on the ship.
Maybe someone thats a TA will know this, but i thought our TA said that they way she booked the second person will alert MSC that its a noshow or fake person. Example, they used his name with a TBAA at the end. NameTBAA

Just a quick follow up on this in case others are in a similar situation. We emailed our congress person Saturday 10/19, she followed up with us on Monday, passed some paperwork back and forth with her and the passport agency and just got an email this morning, 10/25, that its approved and printing. Should have it tomorrow or Monday. Basically 3 business days after contacting her.

I did Bella on seascape and there were no washcloths. I spoke with my room attendant and he confirmed no washcloths, as soon as he went into clean the next room I grabbed two off his cart and from then on they were always replaced in my cabin.
Interesting they just outright tell you they have none when they are on their cart... Ill give them the benefit the doubt that there was a language barrier per the discussion above, but i guarantee you that if they are sailing out of a US port, they are getting asked for them weekly they they may want to google 'washcloth'...
Anyway, instead of bringing out own washcloths, we are just going to bring a pair of scissors. Problem solved...

I read on a FB page that there were no washcloths on Sescape. Please tell me thats an untrue rumor. I understand they are not a European thing, but our cruise is going out of Miami...
thx

When I was met with a delay I called my Congressman’s office. They got right on it and I had it back in days.
We emailed her yesterday an will follow up with a call tomorrow. Fingers crossed.

Usually you give the passport agency the original copy of BC when applying for Passport which is later returned. You may need to request a certified copy prior to your cruise
Not for a renewal, but we did order another copy so we wouldnt be taking our only one. Fun fact, it took a whopping 2 weeks to get a certified copy of her birth certificate. Going on almost 6 months for the passport...
-
Im assuming we will also need to take our marriage cert. given her name is not the same on her DL as her birth cert?
-
Well, we are 22 days out from our cruise and im pretty sure my wife isnt going to have her passport. Which was submitted in Jan of this year... So my question is when i check her in online, it only gives 2 options, ID card and Passport. Under ID card, do i just put her drivers license info in and then they will take a pic of her birth cert when we get to the port?
Absolutely crazy we are having to go through this, but we cant even get through on the phone to try to get an in person appt set up. It will be 6 months since we submitted her expedited passport renewal. So anyones experience cruising with just a birth cert. is greatly appreciated.
thanks

Same way you do a cruise line status match: https://www.msccruisesusa.com/manage-booking/msc-voyagers-club/status-match

Does not have to be a cruise line status to match. They matched my HiltonHonors Diamond to their highest level.
Wow, that caught my eye. How do you do that? Im also diamond at hilton and would love to have that carry over to MSC

I really think it was the super low pricing which included the all in alcohol. What we paid for 2 weeks all in was half the price of other lines we looked at.
Thank you and thats what i was afraid of and the reason we dont sail carnival. This is a last minute cruise for us, booked about 3 weeks ago so we didnt get those ultra cheap prices. We just have to cruise on a certain date and this one seemed to be the best fit. Fingers crossed we have a better experience...

The lack of common courtesy from many passengers is the main reason I cannot get my husband to book another MSC cruise from the US.
He is open to booking another one from Europe though as our experience was very different so I’m currently searching for something before he changes his mind.
Unfortunately I’m reading daily negatives about passenger behavior (especially out of Miami) on other sites.😏Would you say this is because of non US passengers or the low price that MSC has been offering has been attracting more first time cruisers?

I honestly don't think that this is possible. And why would you want to go to Anytime dining when the other cabins couldn't join you? Just for the thermal spa or solarium access (which they can't join you). You can buy a weekly/cruise-length thermal spa access.... the other benefits have been stripped down to almost worthless (IMO)... a $3 bottle of prosecco and some macaroons. Woo hoo.
Sorry, i wasnt clear. I would upgrade all three cabins. They are all for my family.

Hi, does anyone know if you can upgrade to Aurea without changing cabins? We have 3 cabins together and dont want to move, but would like the Aurea experience. thx

Really?!?!!? It seems like almost every review I have ever read about MSC was negative! I am happy to have found most of those reviews to have been wrong or outdated, though, as my B2B sailings over the past 3 weeks were awesome.
That is actually comforting. I have been reading some of the reviews on CC and they are cringe worthy...

Yes, the ones we have been getting over the last few days are way lower than what we got a month or two ago. Our cruise is june 10 and we have been getting them daily over the last week.
