Oh my gosh, what a special memory for all of you! Kudos to the Captain!

Freedom's usual sailing time is 4:30 p.m.
-
I'm planning on arriving early so there's a better chance of wheelchair accessible parking being available.
-
I already know DH isn't keen on attending the M&M in a few weeks. We'll see if I'm brave enough to go alone. :o

Definitely weird that its not an option on our pre-cruise planner. Oh well, Im just planning on having a blast on my favorite boat no matter where or what I eat! :D
we're on the March 1 sailing -- not available on my cruise planner either. I checked last night.

We're doing this cruise next year so I'll be following along with great interest. Have a wonderful week with your dear friends. :)
-
We're booked on the March 1, 2015 sailing on Freedom. I just looked and it still says MTD. I still haven't been able to book dining reservations though. Might be too early.

Since I need a wheelchair accessible cabin, my choices are limited. Our first cruise we had an inside -- it was fine but we didn't know what we were missing. From then on it's been balcony cabins. Location doesn't matter as much as the balcony.
I sure wish there were a few accessible Grand Suites, or accessible aft balconies. -
The cruise line does not rent them, but there are two companies that will rent you whatever equipment you need and it will be waiting for you in your cabin. When your cruise is over, you just leave it in your cabin and they will pick it up.

I've used Care Vacations a few times and it's worked out very well.

Enjoy every minute of it!
( I sympathize with that long drive. We drove from Dayton OH to FLL in April.) Be safe on your way down. :)

We sailed on Celebrity Silhouette a couple months ago, and have been on a couple Royal cruises. Not much experience I know, but Royal seems to be a better fit for us.
Celebrity offers a much quieter experience, at times too quiet, for me anyway. I did miss all the bells and whistles on Freedom of the Seas.
There are things about the design of the Silhouette that I did not care for. Not much of an outdoor promenade deck to speak of, something I spent a lot of time on on Freedom. And I got lost a lot on the Silhouette, always taking the wrong elevator.
Since I have two RCI cruises booked, I now tend to stick to this board. Can't say I miss the Celebrity board much at all.

The big reason I book early is because of the limited number of wheelchair accessible cabins on each ship. They go pretty quickly. Right now I have 2 cruises booked, one in 2015 and one in 2016. Drives me crazy to have to wait so long, but CC helps with that. :D

I was just on Oasis, cabin 6130. I was all the way forward past the life boats. Your view out will not be obstructed, but your view directly down is likely to be obstructed.
That what I was afraid of. Thanks for the info. :)

I recently booked cabin 6636 on Allure of the Seas. This was before I noticed the position of the life boats. Now I'm pretty sure that the view from a balcony on deck 6 is going to be obstructed by a row of life boats. Can anyone confirm if this is so?

Just saved $505 on my FOS sailing next March! Now I can book another cruise! :D

Also, OP can contact Special Needs Dept., and request a shower stool. Not sure if RCI offers this, but Celebrity does so it's worth a try.

The best thing I ever did was get a physical therapy referral before buying a scooter. I thought I needed an electric wheelchair. For me, I have post polio and am very tall, that would have been a mistake. I needed to be able to get my feet as close as possible to the device. The therapist recommended a scooter or a manual chair to meet my needs. I am so glad I saw him before purchase.
Just wanted to echo this advice. The physical/occupational therapy referral helped me get a power chair that is perfect for my needs.

I posted pictures of an accessible cabin on a Royal Caribbean ship, including the bathroom. Recently returned from a Celebrity cruise and the cabin features are pretty much the same. However this time I did request a shower chair because the fold down seat didn't provide enough support for me. My balance isn't what it once was.

We ate at the Tuscan Grille on our cruise on Silhouette last week and it was fabulous. Wonderful food and a table by the window watching the wake as the sun set over Fort Lauderdale. What's not to like?

Glad to hear it was great! This time next Sunday we'll be on board the Silhouette sailing away!

I ordered luggage tags twice for our March 30th sailing. Never came and never came, and now it says on my reservation page on the X website that they are not able to send out luggage tags for this sailing. Not a big deal in the grand scheme of things, but getting those tags in the mail always makes me smile.

It's about the total relaxation of being on the ocean for 7 days. For me, that includes not having to cook or do dishes, or even think about the day to day stuff at home. I was hooked the first night I fell asleep to the gentle rocking of the ship moving through the waves.

Just the kind of post that's perfect for this awful cold winter!
We have 45 days to go til our Silhouette cruise -- got our cruise documents yesterday. I am ready!
Have a great cruise, Yellowfurbaby!

We'll be on the Silhouette with this itinerary in 50 days (am I counting down? No not much. :o). Thanks for the details!
RCCL customer service isn't always so bad

I agree with this. Beats me how anybody could NOT want to go on a cruise.
Have a great time!
