Got my cough along with half of the other passengers on the Equinox ...must be something going around for this time of the year.

Did you visit Tallinn on your Cruise??
-
It is rather annoying - the site hasn't been available for ages. I just put it down to being the norm with Celebrity's IT.
Last year the same thing happened and when the site was back up and running the majority of Connections had been wiped to Zero so we all had to sign up again ---hope this doesn't happen again!!

When I booked a 14 night Scandinavia/ Russia cruise - I asked the same question. I was told that it doesn't mater either way as if you look at the itinerary map it does a sort of loop so what you don't see going one way - you get to see going back.
-
We are also arriving into Zeebrugge on a Sunday - not ideal. We are only in port for 8hrs! I'm aware that shops/cafe's etc don't open till later in the morning but even so if you get into Bruges early you can have a walk around before it gets too busy. We are due to dock at 0700 so we have booked our taxi/van for 0730. Apparently the shuttle busses to the port gate are there when the ship docks and it takes less than 5 mins to get to the port gates.
Hope this helps

We had no problem - our taxi was for 9"30 we left the ship just before 9 thinking about a wait - our shuttle was near empty - the trip took <5 mins.
I have no idea of what time the ship tours left - that will impact your departure.
Town is 20 minutes away -- we were there on a holiday and nothing was open at first but by noon the lace and chocolate shops were open. The churches were open - maybe plan on doing that - you are there early -
The canal ride takes you from point A back to point A so think about that when you board - get on line before 10 AM -
tour groups get right on - but there are a few boats going around - we heard of line over an hour long - so you'd rather wait early on ...
you can cover town in an hour on foot - it is small - smaller than Tallin if you have been there --
enjoy
Thanks for your reply - appreciate it:)

We are booked on the 16th August Cruise & from what we can gather the weather can be very similar to ours in the U.K in other words - variable so I think it might be a case of packing a bit of everything.
If you do decide to book this cruise why not come & join us on the Roll Call:)

I agree --
We were is Brugge a few weeks ago on the Emerald Princess -- the ships shuttle to the gate was free - it is walkable - but that would be time consuming -- It was well organized --
We too met up with CC people and it was well worth it -- in terms of time wasted and ease of transfer. We used Taxi Snell but there was also Taxi George picking up others -- prompt in both directions ....
there were no independent taxi trolling for fares --
Sometimes time is money -- dont bother shopping around - all taxis charge the same amount !!

Hi I've booked 2 taxi's with Rony's taxis. I was just wondering if there were long queues to disembark the ship and to board the free shuttle to the gate. our taxi's are booked for 0730. Were there plenty shuttle buses to cope with the rush? Unfortunately we arrive on a Sunday and I've heard that the Cafe's & shops don't open till much later so we will just have to walk around & explore till then. We are also planning on doing the Canal boat ride which doesn't start till 10am.
I would be grateful for your input - Thanks
Lydia
Thanks

Most of the road works should be finished by September. If you are a Captains Club member they allow you to board from 11.30

$69, $79, and $112. There are 3 for rent. Look here:

I am staying in Dublin for a week in August for $64 per night with my own en-suite and private balcony. I have used Air Bnb on 7 trips and never disappointed. A great way to travel.
Donna
Thanks Donna - I hadn't heard of that site before - I will have a look at it.

Am looking for a nice Hotel or B&B in Guernsey, preferably in the St Martins/St Peter Port area or near by - nothing too expensive as I'm only staying 3 nights. Does anyone have any recommendations?
Thanks

Does anyone know of any reasonably priced Hotels or B&B that would come recommended in Guernsey. Our preference would be to be in the St Martins - St Peters Port area but any suggestions would be helpful.

I was also on this cruise & it was a enjoyable cruise. Sadly, I got the coughing bug -luckily for me it was 3 days before the end of the cruise and even now I'm still slowly recovering. I've never heard so many people coughing, you literally couldn't go anywhere on the ship without experiencing the coughing. Before getting the bug or whatever it was - we would sit our on the balcony and literally hear people near & far coughing!! I'm meticulous about washing my hands etc but still got it:(
The Dog - a Shih Tsu ( appropriately named) was another problem. It was a really cute dog but the owners in my opinion were a disgrace. Not only did it do it's 'business' at the Martini Bar but it also did it in the Casino & goodness where else. Although not ideal -It wouldn't have been a real problem if the owners had cleared up after the dog!! Our dinner companions witnessed it doing a 'do do' in the Casino and alerted the male owner to the fact but he just ignored him and wandered off without clearing it up ...unfortunately our friends wife hadn't seen the mess and trod in it! She was furious and went to complain to Guest Relations who in her opinion weren't interested - in the end she asked to speak to someone with more authority but even then they didn't seem to be taking the situation seriously! She said they had offered to clean her evening shoes but she explained that there was NO way she would be wearing them ever again! This dog was also allowed to accompany the owners into the MDR.
The other unusual thing was seeing people in the MDR with Shorts & T shirts. This happened 2 days running and some people complained to the MaitreD - he must have spoken to them as after that they came down to dinner in Jeans.
With the exceptions of the above - we did have a great cruise.

Just 5mins. I think if you are in the first group off the ship you'll be on time for your 7.30 pick up.
I also checked with Rony re your post Robbie. Looks like things have changed...
"Indeed we are not allowed to drive to the ship to pick up bookings. We have to wait at the harbour gate.
A free shuttle takes you from the ship to the gate, wich takes 5 minutes.
I have not heared so far from stealing taxi's in the last 8 years. So for the moment we don't ask for identety."
Rony,
Rony's Taxi's Bvba.We have also booked with Rony's Taxis - He's the one who told me the above info about the Pick up area. - He also confirmed that they will return us direct to the Ship. 5 mins to the Port Gates sound good.
-
I'm pretty sure that the rules have changed since Robbie was last in port. According to our Taxi company - they are no longer allowed to pick up from the ship and will pick up by the Port Gates. We will need to get on the free shuttle which drops off at the Port Gate. However -on the return they are able to bring us back to the ship. From what I can gather the reason we have to meet up at the port gates is because of congestion in the mornings.
I would also like to know how long it takes to get from the ship to the Port Gates. I'm guessing about 10 mins We dock at 0700 & have booked our taxi for 0730

Thanks for all your advice. I hadn't thought about Priceline or Hotwire so will have a look at that too. Hopefully we will get on the flight but it is good to be prepared just in case:)
-
Silly question but is there an area at the Airport that has a Courtesy Telephone so I can call direct to near by hotels. I saw a kiosk once in LAX that had this facility. Probably haven't described it well hope you know what I mean:confused:
-
I'm on Stand By for a flight out of Miami International - if we don't get on we will have to night stop & try again the next day. If this is the case we will need to find a hotel near to the airport. Are there decent not too expensive hotel options that will provide a shuttle back to the airport. Don't want anything too shabby but then again nothing expensive either as all we will need is a place to sleep. Thanks

A person on one of my Roll Calls has just returned on the Equinox. She said that the Silk Harvest is going to be changed into an English Pub. We are sailing on 4th April on the Equinox so will find out more then.
-
I would definitely recommend Lacock. I also think you will love Marlborough - they have a Market every Saturday in the Main Street. It has lots of nice shops too.
-
I'm also doing a 10 nighter - when were the 2 Formal nights held? Was the Connections Party on the 1st sea day?
Thanks for your help.
-
Thanks for the speedy replies:) I have the Premium package so sound as if that will work well.
-
Just a thought -Can I use my drinks package in the Speciality restaurants?
-
Thank you so much for all the info - it is a great help. We intend to disembark ASAP and hopefully we will be lucky & get a boat that will take us direct to the Vasa Museum. At least now I have the knowledge so can plan accordingly.
You guys are really amazing:D
Tallin from cruise ship
in Northern Europe & Baltic Sea

We will be going to Tallinn on the Celebrity Eclipse in August & the schedule is showing that we will be docking at MUUGA which is 17k from Tallinn + the schedules for 2015 also show Muuga. I know from previous reports that the ships must have docked nearer but it looks as if things have changed for the worst as according to locals Muuga is an Industrial Port and not easy to get transport other than the ships shuttle or Taxi. Needless to say our original plans to do the 15-20min walk into the Old Town have now been thwarted:(
