  2. Thank you for all the replies and I took it all on board - so to speak

I ended up buying one here at home  and have it all wrapped up (in a map of USA) ready to be handed over and I am going to give it to him the day before we travel, so he can get it set up.

I will have to see about getting the internet package on the ship - not sure how much that costs, he bought it the 1st year for our son, but I cant remember how much we paid.

We are now on the final countdown, I finished packing today and we leave Northern Ireland on Friday - excited.

Thanks again for all your comments it was appreciated.

  4. Hi Andy,

    Sounds like a great cruise.

My Husband & I are doing the same cruise in March, for our 25th Wedding Anniversary. :D

We have never travelled outside Europe before. Thanks for your review, it just makes me more excited... I think we are docked in Antigua on our anniversary, 16th March.

This will be our 4th Cruise and hopefully not our last.

looking forward to seeing some photos of the ship.

    take care

  5. Hi I also loved The Bali Hai on the Equinox and watched the barman make it. He used black currant liqueur, Malibu, passion fruit juice. He whizzed those in a mixer with ice. No idea about the proportions. The previous poster's recipe sound much more posh though and is probably the proper one!

    Hi

I think that sounds like it.... I bought Raspberry liqueur today, thinking that was in it... any how, I will try and make it up... & i'll let you know how I get on.:D

  6. Hi all,

Just off the Silhouette last Saturday, and a few days before I left I discovered a lovely cocktail called Bali Hai, which I got in the "ensemble lounge" of course, I didnt really pay any head to the ingredients and now I would love to make one, so, if anyone is on one of the ships and pick this up, would you please have a look and see what is in it....

or if you any one knows .. . . please let me know.

    thanks in advance

    debbie :D

  7. Just a few thoughts about the drink package promotion (and yes, we took advantage). Let us assume that 50% (or more) of the passengers have the drink package on a cruise. So we have over 1000 souls in the MDR at dinner time and over 500 want a glass of wine. And then later during the dinner most of those folks want a 2nd glass (and perhaps a 3rd). As I recall there are only a few bar waiters normally working in the dining room and one wonders how they will be able to meet the demand. It could get UGLY! A drink package is only a good deal when you can get a drink!

Hi all, we took the premium package last year, it was fantastic and well worth the money... no worrying about the bill at the end of the holiday. As for the wine with our meals, the waiters in the MDR are very attentive and our glasses wouldn't have been near the bottom and they were over topping them up, not once did we have to request our glasses to be filled and if we had finished a bottle of wine, another one appeared. They were also great at advising us one what wine to take, and reminded us that if we didn't like a wine, it would be changed....without any problem.

In the cocktail bar, when we didn't know which cocktail to try, the waiter asked us what package we were on and when we told him the premium he told us to start at the beginning of the menu and work our way through it... again, if we didn't like a cocktail, it would be changed..

I would recommend the package... it was great value. Just in process of booking our next holiday, just don't know where to go.... but it will be with Celebrity . .

  8. we sailed with Celebrity in June, on the Solstice it was only our 2nd cruise, last year year where on adventure of the seas... both time with our (now almost 18) 17 year old son.

For us, we loved the cabin on the Celebrity cruise, the bars, the dining.... but on the A O S the staff were so much friendlier, they new us by name, with in the 2nd day... now some of the staff did on the solstice, but some were just bordering on "rude".

Our room just wasn't cleaned to the same standard as what it was on the AOS.

But when sailing again, we would choose celebrity...just for the cabin and food.... excellent!!
