We just sailed in 8148 on the 5/26 cruise.  Noticed the rust spots, too.  Surprised they were still there from our last cruise.  Did you have any problems with the noise from the morning food carts?  From 6:45 am to 8:45 am, every half hour, someone rammed a cart over the metal plate in the crew doorway, rattling all the dishes and waking us up.  We've been in this room before and never had this problem.  Wonder if its because of the new (less soundproof doors).  We've changed rooms for our next cruise so as not to be near a crew door.

Other than this, the Summit is one of our favorite ships.  Leaves out of NJ (near where we live) and not too big to traverse with our mobility problems.

Hope your next cruise will be wonderful.

We ordered room service for 7am every morning. So, I guess the noise was a welcome sound.

Before you get off would it be possible to see if you can find someone who drove to the port and ask them if the parking garage was open to Summit passengers.  Last year it was not.   Thanks

Great question. We were on the Anthem in January, and parked on the first floor of the garage. On June 5th the first floor was taken and we had to park on the second floor for our trip on the Summit.

I think the only worse thing is when someone asks you what you do or did for a job.   Too often it is to size one up.   I personally like to get to know a person for who they are and get to know them.

I’ve on more than one occasion said I was an adult entertainer.  The look on their face was worth a million dollars.

We just got off the Summit last Sunday. The gentleman sitting with us, for dinner,  every night retired from working for Jack In The Box. I retired from working for IBM. We had so much in common.

You can also get a fountain soda at any bar on Royal ships... you don't have to use the machines at all!

You can also get fountain soda at any bar on Celebrity.

I purchased the soda package online.

Is is it loaded into my sail card?  Or is there a sticker on the card?

Do I receive a drink cup with the package?

The word "SODA", is printed on your card. Thank goodness Celebrity doesn't use those cups. We sailed with Royal Caribbean once, this past January. What a pain those cups were. Celebrity gives you cans of soda that you can get at every bar or restaurant. Just stop at a number of bars and pick up cans that you take back to your room.

Concierge class stateroom supposedly has a spa style shower-head.  What have you done on your past cruises concerning the standard shower head?

We have only been on four cruises so far. Two on Summit, one time in Aqua class and the other standard balcony room. Another on Royal's, Anthem of the Seas. They had regular hard spray shower heads. The other cruise was on the Silhouette. That didn't have the hard spray shower head. Our only alternative was to plan on never sailing on her again.

Not sure, but I do know about 8-10 crew are trained on each ship to be "Care Team" members, this is above and beyond their onboard function. Care teams on every RCCL ship/brandm, not sure what the other ones do.  I met two of the Care Team on our Eclipse cruise (one in guest relations, one a restaurant manager), and learned a bit about it after this happened on Eclipse. They are generally people that speak several languages and then undergo specialized training so they can facilitate between port agents,  Miami office, and the ships and the needed off ship facilities (hospitals, police, immigration etc).

BTW Bill I do think it's funny that you are in Fishkill , and I'm the next town over in Wappingers.....small world sometimes

High neighbor. Just got home from Adams Fairacre Farms, in Wappingers.

Always hated that (and eating while shopping in a supermarket) until --- My daughter took a major Hypo while we were on holiday in a line at a buffet I can assure you  I grabbed the first sweet thing I could see and got it down her there and then - Also had to get a man to jump over a counter at the slowest macdonalds in Orlando one to get a coke for her.   These were the old days of Mixatard Insulin (she had a15 min meals window to eat before going out cold) -luckily now a rare occurrence on the insulin pump.  So you can't always judge why someone does what they do.

    I can relate to that.
