The increased Celebrity prices, decrease in activities staff and extra charges made us move to Crystal. By the time you figure it out, it works out to be the same price and the food, service and activities are far superior!
I've switched to Regent for the same reason.

OMG!
I was just on the Celebrity website and it was really a mess. I put cruise only and it gave me just about every cruise Pkg there was. I am a business owner and first thing I would do is inspect the website before it was made public. Celebrity needs to hire the Big Bang Theory cast to fix this now!:D

IT is a disaster for Celebrity. If I had the website in my business,my board would have fired me in a minute.Celebrity advertises that they are a premier cruise line but their website tells a different story.

They were the day we left St. Thomas (Tuesday) and the day we left Bermuda (Friday).....
Thank you.

Hi guys... Over the years are after doing a few cruises, my interest over ships continue to grow up on a daily basis. I'm so interested.. I'm reading and analysing all sort of data regarding how the cruise ships are built.
Got a quick question for you guys: Looking at the Celebrity Summit ship pictures right now and I'm wondering what is the utility of the front funnel and also the AFT one. I know the one located about 2/3 AFT of the ship in the main one for engines. But what about the front one and the one located completely AFT? Are they also used for smoke or for something else? Are they simple kitchen vent stacks?
Don't ask us,send your question to Celebrity.

i like celebrity. As an elite, i have been on many cruisers on celebrity/azamara. I have also cruised on other lines. Has anyone noticed that the prices have gone way up? On a cruise in jan. 2014, i booked a cruise for jan. 2015. I watch fares using a fare watcher app. The fares have almost doubled. If that continues, high prices may make me reconsider future bookings. Would you pay double for your next cruise?
no.

Thank you! In the final summary I post tonight I'm going to include all my camera info and what I used to process the images. :)
Thank you.I'm looking forward to the info.

Excellent photos and review.May I ask what camera/lenses did you use?

I discovered the curried potatoes and cauliflower in the ocean view cafe on day 6. A lot of food was just average so I'd love everyone's input for my next cruise in November. Please tell me your favorites so I can get the best tastes for the calories. Oh and I loved the lemon pie in the buffet. And my husband like the frog legs in the MDR. Thank you!

IF you're going AQ, do NOT get a cabin on deck 11. There's no shade for the balconies there. Get one one on deck 9.
Anyway, I would opt for CC. I don't think the perks we received with AQ warranted the extra money paid. Plus I was not a fan of Blu, which is the biggest perk for most people.
Not totally true,The aft cabins on deck 11 have plenty of shade.

Experienced same problem 5 minutes ago.

My wife and I sailed on the Meridian in the summer of 1994 and 1995.In 1995,we hit a tropical storm on the way to NY.Arrived 2 hrs late.Seas were 30 to 40 feet and greatfull we were on the Meridian that was originally built for norh atlantic travel. Was sad to hear that she sunk.
-
I did get credit for the Meridian but it took some doing. We also cruised the Atlantic when it was the Big Red Boat.
The big red boat was the Home lines oceanic, not the Meridian.

All of these are too far from where I live.
New question :
Does anyone know of a hotel close to the Bayonne cruiseport when I can leave my car while on the cruise ?
The Hilton Garden Inn and the Hampton Inn and Suites on Staten Island offers free parking and free shuttle service to and from the cruiseport(about a 15 minute ride). Both hotels are across the parking lot from each other and owned by the same couple,Lois and Richard Nicotra.

.
MY PREDICTION:
The next stage (whenever that is implemented) of Celebrity's Formal Nights will be worded as follows:
Evening dress code: Smart Casual / Formal Optional - For those who would like to dress formally, tonight is the night to bring out your formal wear and dress to the nines for your evening pleasure.. Smart Casual, as always, is also completely acceptable.

I could not have said it better. It is the best of all worlds for everyone.

This is my first cruise with 5 consecutive sea days. Any suggestions on how to not get cabin fever, OR SHOULD I SAY SHIP FEVER?
Anyone who as done this or similar itineraries- what does the cruise director normally plan to fill up 5 (Or more) sea days that are consecutive ? Does the schedule feel redundant after the 3rd day?
Spend a lot of time at the bars and if you drink enough, you wouldn't know or remember the # of days at sea.
-
Should also be noted that back then you either dressed up to the dress code for the evening or you didn't eat. No specialties, no buffet, limited room service.
Those days are over.
-
Just a reminder, the super bowl is in the meadowlands,nj on Feb 2,hotel rooms will be at a premium.

Been over 35 Celebrity cruises,2 Rccl cruises and I would definitely cruise with RCCL with teenage children.
-
Thank you for the list.
Just for the record,Carmens,Marina Cafe and Great American Grill are closed.

We are booked to sail out of Cape Liberty on Jan 5th 2014. We are not sure about driving down from boston the day of the cruise.. has anyone done this or would it be better to find a hotel with parking and transfer?
Thanks,
Kathleen
In the winter, drive down the day before. The Hilton Garden Inn and Hampton Inn on Staten Island has free parking and a free shuttle to and from Cape Liberty.

We are thinking of taking a taxi to horseshoe bay. Would it make sense to carry our own beach chairs (and even umbrellas)? I’m assuming a chair wouldn’t work with public transportation – but for those who have been recently – could you take one on a ferry? On the buses?
Any information or opinions on the pros or cons of bring our own beach chairs would be gratefully received.
Are you for real!!!
