  1. My DH and I are considering booking our first cruise with Royal Carribbean on the Navigator of the Seas, the transatlantic crossing this spring. We are looking at an interior stateroom and wondered if the television have free channels with the news etcetera. We enjoy watching the news later in the evening. I believe I read that you pay for any movies. Is this so? Thank you.

  2. We were on a cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam at the beginning of February and missed Grand Cayman even though 4 other ships tendered their passengers to shore (Celebrity, Carnival and 2 Royal Caribbean). The captain announced that weather conditions prevented safe tendering. It should be noted that we arrived in Grand Cayman and the tender boats were launched and shortly after that, the ship suffered a "significant" power failure. By the time the ship was back at full power about 20 minutes later, we were much further offshore. At this point the captain announced that we would be sailing to Cozumel. I do hope that the ship is not suffering periodic power issues that is preventing it from docking. This is a beautiful cruise ship and we have had many happy holidays on her.

  3. My DH and I have snorkelled at Half Moon Cay a half a dozen times and always enjoyed it very much. As mentioned if you swim out from the children's play area you will come across several about 8 feet high cone shaped artificial substrate. The fish like to swim around and inside the substrate. You will find yourself swimming in the middle of a school of sargeant major fish (they are yellowish or blue in colour with black stripes and friendly). There are often many other species of fish, squirrelfish, wrasse (very small colourful fish) and we have seen a large grouper. As you enter the water you may see a small school of african pompano, a white almost translucent fish. Along the rocky wall there are many very small sargeant majors and some beautiful anemones, orange and red, very pretty. The bottom is all sand and so it is very easy to walk out or swim. Hope you have a great time.

  4. Thank you so much for taking the time to post the photographs. We now understand what we saw on the sail away. We will still be able to enjoy our breakfast and lunch outside in the sunshine (wearing a hat and lots of sun block of course). Also looking forward to scuba diving in Cayman and Cozumel. My DH has been diving since he was a teenager and I took the course last year and am now certified.

  5. My DH and I just watched the Eurodam sail away from Port Everglades and we wondered what the tent like structures are on the back of the lido area. Also are there still many tables available to sit and enjoy lunch and the sunshine (we are from the cold white north, Toronto, Canada and like to maximize or out door time). Our cruise is on the Nieuw Amsterdam and are these tent structures on this ship too. Many thanks for your help.

  6. My DH and I are looking at a carribean cruise on the Nieuw Amsterdam. Our son will be with us. We are considering a stateroom above the showroom at sea on deck 4 (a deeper balcony with metal railings). Would we hear a lot of noise from the showroom? We could also choose a stateroom at the front of deck 7 the rotterdam deck. The bridge and some empty space would be above us and would there be any nose from there? We do appreciate your advise.

  7. My DH and I are looking for a carribean cruise this winter and we will book a shore excursion at each port. I notice that the heading view shore excursions is absent and so it is impossible to obtain the cost of the excursion, which is part of the price of the cruise. I am hoping that this is a temporary situation.

Could anyone shed any light on this please.

  8. My DH and I are looking at booking the 10 southern carribean cruise on the Oosterdam January 18-28, 2016. I notice there is a group called Jazzsea on board and went to their website. They all have to eat at the early dining time so would this exclude us from early dining? Also when the jazz groups play what areas of the ship would they use and would we be excluded from these areas or could we listen? Would they play in the ocean bar (I presume not) as my DH and I enjoy dancing there. Any advise would be appreciated. Thank you.

  9. My DH and I are looking at a carribean cruise on the Brilliance of the Seas. We have never cruised with Royal Carribean previously, only Celebrity and HAL. We are from the great white north and like to maximize our outdoor time on our cruise. We are booking an oceanview stateroom. Are there many lounge chairs available and where (not by the pool) to sit and read and book and enjoy the sunshine. It is difficult to determine this just looking at the deck plans. Thank you.
