  1. If the cord is an issue, perhaps this battery operated one could be a suitable substitute. It's the O2COOL 5 inch battery operated clip fan.

I used this fan at my desk and it has a great air flow. And the clip is VERY strong. It doesn't budge!

Also, there's an app called Relax and Sleep that has loads of white noise, ambient noise, and nature sounds. Every thing from air conditioning to monks chanting:').

  2. That. Sounds. AWESOME!

There's a place here that has indoor laser tag and the room isn't that big at all but it was still fun! My son is a high school senior and his JROTC leaders go to a trampoline park every year! I thought they were to old but he said "When we saw Jump World on the itinerary, everyone was like 'YEAH'!!!". I'm considering doing an escape room for my department's team building exercise this year.

I would be all over that if it came here!

  3. Western Caribbean is basically fine. If your son is young enough where missing a week of school is ok, why not avoid the spring break high prices and go like in Feb when it is cheaper even

    Thanks for the answers!

My son is a high school senior. But even if he weren't I wouldn't take him out of school for a vacation. Trying to teach him to prioritize: work when it's time to work; play when it's time to play. And, when you have kids you're forced to make decisions like these so don't have any kids any time soon! ;p

  4. My family and I were supposed to go on a cruise in June 2018 but many of them were displaced by Harvey and have canceled :( . I totally get it and I feel bad for them. However, I still want to go SOMEWHERE. I haven't taken a vacation since November 2015.

SO I'm considering going on one with just my son and I. Would it be a good idea to book a cruise so soon after all these storms? I'm a relatively new cruiser (since 2013) so I don't know how fast the islands bounce back from storms. I found a good price on an Oasis cruise for my son's spring break week next March.

Any insight would be appreciated - even if it's to say I'm being selfish to consider it in light of all the rest of my family has been through.

  5. Another thing people don't realize about sanitizers is that they alone don't kill bacteria. It's a combination of the sanitizer AND rubbing that kills bacteria. And you have to rub until your hands are completely dry. Otherwise, the bacteria not killed due to incorrect use of the sanitizer are basically 'vaccinated' against the sanitizer. They can become resistant to them, rendering sanitizers ineffective.

Also for those who think it's gross for people to eat something from their plate while they're in the line because of germs on their fingers, how is it any different than when/if they make a second trip to the buffet? How many people (who don't keep bottles of sanitizer on the table) go wash their hands AGAIN before each trip?

  6. I'd much rather use that money to have a really nice shore excursion at another port- we chartered a private sailboat in St. Thomas for the day (yep, just the 4 of us on a sailboat with a 2-man crew) and it was luxuriously delightful. Sadly, Labadee is not the quiet, relaxing beach day it used to be - to me feels more like Disneyland Haiti these days. <preparing for the onslaught>

    Not flaming, just saying...

I feel the same way about your preferred excision. I look at that and go 'why get off a ship to spend a day on a boat, only to get right back on a ship'? 😆 But, as you said, it's a personal decision.

  7. First off, if he threatened you with violence... report it. This applies to anyone, anywhere... if anyone ever threatens you then you need to report it. Something may or may not be done about it, but at least there will be a record of it.

Secondly, this IS a public space in legal terms. Yes, you paid to be there... but so did the other guest. Furthermore, it is a public space on private property so RCL could establish some guidelines (there are a lot of laws that could affect the guidelines) but you do not have a right to shut someone up.

Third, I doubt your story. I am not saying that you are lying about him threatening you or the conflict between his anti-environmental views and your pro-environmental views..... what I am suggesting is that you left out a portion of the story between you guys disagreeing and then him getting mad enough to threaten you. I don't know if there was a portion there.... but I strongly suspect it.

I was thinking the same thing. Something about that account is...off. And OP said that they'd paid to be there as if everyone else just waltzed in for free. LOL!!!

Of course, we could be wrong. People CAN be weird sometimes and OP may have just run into a real nut!

  8. We sailed the Allure of the Seas last October. It is now Sally's favorite ship. But the morning room service is such a traditional part of our cruise experience, I think we are done with Royal.

    Burt

But, morning room service hasn't gone away, right? My understanding is that it's just not free anymore (unless it's continental). For a 7 day cruise it would come to an additional $55.65 for in room breakfast for the week.

    Am I missing something?

  9. Liberty won't allow me to book one of my four preferred aft cabins as we are only a two.....so it is dead to me

I'm so sorry to hear that. I look forward to trying an aft one day as well, but right now it's just 2 of us too, and honestly, I wouldn't want to sail with 3 in a balcony cabin. Since Vision is now in Galveston at least part time, I hope to one day be able to get in a 4 or 5 day and try one out then. But it looks like I'll probably have to book it last minute though.

  10. I don't plan to cruise till 2018 (eagerly waiting for the June 2018 out of Galveston release). My last cruise was in 2015. Yet I come here almost daily - multiple times a day. I love this place!

I also love the methadone analogy. That sums it up perfectly.

CC keeps me in the know as far as cruising goes, since I don't get to do it as often. So yeah, it's totally feeding my addiction.

Still wish I could find someone who could get me more of those "I *heart* Cruising" flip flops I saw on FOS. I could kick myself for not buying more of those. I smile every time I look at them!

  11. I am very conscious of my surroundings and of people's feelings and reactions and I'm very careful not to step on other people's toes. I was like this when I was an early cruiser. I've always been like this.

Well, I feel you on this. You were doing everything to let them know that you were focused on something else and they just weren't getting it. I can see why you were annoyed. It was their first time cruising - was it also their first time out in public? To me, their behavior was no less oblivious than other oblivious people who have been called out on this thread - like those who dawdle at the buffet or cut in line. The fact that they were newbies doesn't excuse it. They kept saying "were playing too" but clearly they weren't. And how were they playing and yet attempting to chit chat with someone who is making it clear that they DON'T want to chit chat? :D If you're playing then you need to be listening too! Get back to your team! LOL!!!

Maaaaaayyyyyybe you guys could have handled it better on your end, but I totally understand your frustration.

  12. He is not [...] demanding that they immediately end their contract with them.

RCL should suspend it's association with the company or at least not sponsor it in their presentations.

He kinda is...even if only temporarily.

And, I thought this post was about the rapper. I got all excited for nothing. LOL!!!

  13. The Liberty itineraries are all posted on cruisecal - it's staying in Galveston thru 2019 it seems.

Libertys scheduled up until April 2019 is showing on cruise cal. She is in Galveston so I would treat the rumours of Oasos going there as rumours as I can't see both Liberty and Oasis out of Galveston.

No preview of itineraries on Royal's site.

    Thank you both.

Oh well, it was fun dreaming while it lasted. Guess I'll finalize my cabin pick on Liberty. :D
