  1. Hmmm. Interesting topic.

I book my cruises through an online TA. They always run a "No Deposit Required" promotion but when you scroll WAY down to read the fine print...

    Deferred Deposit
    offer is valid for most sailings departing by 12/31/16. ...Initial deposit must be paid 10 days prior to final payment due date;
    if changes are made benefit will become void and the cruise lines full deposit is required;
changes made resulting in a new cruise line booking are considered a cancellation and subject to cruise lines cancellation policy...

Under these promos I pay a $24.99 processing fee to book my cruise. But my cancellation fee would be $500 (7 day balcony deposit for 2).

  2. There was this guy once, totally not me, just some guy. He wasn't me, but his name was like proncho1793 or something. He wasn't me, ok? He was a friend. Well anyway. This one time on a cruise where someone was smoking on their balcony and said that smoke magically flies away never to bother anyone ever... remember this wasn't me, ok? So he went near the divider and really ripped a massive one. And well, that guy... he stank that night. That other guy. And the smoker smelled it and made a comment. And that other guy said "Farting anywhere outside is ok. The smell gets sucked up by magic and floats to moon making it impossible for anyone else to smell it. YOU CAN'T SMELL IT!!! It's impossible!!! It's my right to fart!"

The guy next to that guy didn't smoke on his balcony again. Or so I heard from my friend.

    LMAO!!!! Love it!!!!

    LIFE. GOALS.

I can't wait to be able to travel like that!

  4. WHAT is your problem?? Some of us like the extra luxury of a shaded shelter (not a tree). If the sun moves, the tree doesn't.. Some of us need the constant shade due to health or skin issues...

Why are you constantly pushing your unwanted opinions on this subject??

Actually, the OP DID ask 'yea or nea'. You may not like their opinion, but it isn't 'unwanted'. It was specifically asked for. And it's just as valid as those who gush and say that they love the cabanas.

  5. Another vote for Nachi Cocum. Very nice relaxing beach day. I can't wait to get back there again. If you're looking for a party place though, I wouldn't recommend it for that. There were a few teens there (including my own 15 year old) but even they were pretty subdued. :p

On my first cruise I did the Amazing Race Cozumel through RC. We loved it! But I like scavenger hunts so,...:D

Here is a link to the description through an independent site:

  6. First let me say that I am a smoker and the ability to smoke on the balcony was why I agreed to the extra cost of a balcony on our first cruise many years ago. That said I've always made it a point to talk with people in adjoining cabins about their tolerance for my smoking and if it was an issue for them I avoided smoking if they were out there. Since the ban I have begrudeingly given in and I follow the policy I agreed to when I signed the booking contract.

As for the penalties, on our last cruise our neighbors were constantly smoking and playing very loud "death metal" on a bluetooh speaker. The first time they were caught they were fined/charged $250 cleaning fee. Second offfence resulted in a visit from the Hotel manager who advised them that they would be very unhappy if it happened again. They laughed but low and behold on day 4 the cabin next door was empty. According to our room steward "they and there things were deborded on St Kitts with directions to the airport"

Wow!!! That's an expensive smoke break!

  7. My first cruise was the best week ever. It was the first time my son and I had been on vacation. We were in a E1 balcony. I thought I was living it up! :p

Then my second cruise was the best week ever. D2 balcony and this time my mom, dad, and sister came with my son and me. I think that really was the best. One of my favorite memories was going to the MDR for breakfast one morning and seeing my parents at a table for 2 enjoying their breakfast. They looked so happy. :D

My third cruise was in a hump JS on Freedom. Best room by far and the cruise was good (it was just me, my son and my sister). We had fun but I missed my parents. Dad had some health issues last year and couldn't travel.

I REALLY want to do a cruise in 2018 for my son's graduation with parents AND extended family. Either it'll be the best thing ever or the worst! LOL!!! :p

  8. Looks like all these were filed, but none listed as "live":

    Spectrum of the Seas

    Joy of the Seas

    Apex of the Seas

    Pulse of the Seas

    Passion of the Seas

    Emblem of the Seas

    Vantage of the Seas

It appears they update to live once they actually make the selection. As Biker19 pointed out...it would seem an update is imminent for a 2018 launch.

I vote for Apex. But honestly I don't really like any of these names. LOL!!!

  9. "Sweats?"

    What is a K.O...?

It is your prerogative to return rude with rude. In my opinion that makes you rude as well, but ... it is your choice.

    :)

    Tom

How is it rude to point out that they are, in fact, violating the rules? Especially since the crew doesn't seem likely to intervene?

  10. I, too, was looking forward to trying it one day. Oh well. :( I always found it funny that people would say they don't want to have to plan where they would eat in advance but then would look over the MDR menus in advance and pick something months before their cruise or would decide to skip the MDR on those nights that nothing on the MDR menu appealed to them. I agree with the others who said that some people just don't like change.

    6. Many people like the spontaneity of cruising and do not want to plan everything in advance.

What's spontaneous about eating in the same restaurant at the same time every night? LOL!!!

  11. I knew someone who once got a dozen cute little animals -- just little plastic ones, have no idea what -- and left them in random places around a resort with a little note. She was doing it with her son, and the note said something like "Be my friend! Please take me with you for the day, take lots of pictures, but leave me at the end for others to find! [This is my home and I don't want to leave my family.]"

They were surprised at how many people found them and spent the day taking their buddy on vacation, but brought them back to share with others. (Of course some never made it back, but ironically those were usually taken by adults!) They never shared that they were the ones who left them, and had a blast watching other people through the week. Always thought that was a cool idea...

So cool! A cool twist on this would be to create a FB page or an Instagram account for the animals and have the people post their pics to the page!

  12. So, I am economist, eh. Math and probabilities and how people react in normal situations is sort of my domain.

When I went to Vegas as a 21 year old, there was the perfect game plan for making a free trip, it requires that you have a large sum of money, but it "guaranteed" a winner. Gamblers love winning. So, let's say in 1980 you needed 150$ a day to pay for a hotel room, drinks and a few bits. So, you walk in to a casino any casino, and lay 150 on the pass line. If you win, yeah, you just made the days wage, and you could have a nice dinner, and do something. If you lost, you walk out of the casino, because the casino knows that people know this game. You go next door. You plop $300 down on the pass line, and if you win yeah, you recouped your losses, and you can pay for the day... If you lose, you walk out of the casino to the next, you put $600 on the pass line, and repeat, now, pretty soon you are talking a lot more money than I could afford in 1980, but since the pass line you win 49% of the time.... For most players, you win before you get murdered by the mob.

I am pretty sure that most people booking the majesty are booking inside cabins because they are cheap and they live in Florida and it is just a weekend cruise, and heck there are only 80 balconies on the whole ship (I actually don't know how many, when I sailed the Majesty I was on deck three in an inside cabin). Those are the people probably playing this game because they are retired living in Florida.... The people playing the weekend roulette our OP is talking about are rich people who want to take a 3 day 4 day weekend, and live like a mini sultan. Those people like our OP can afford to put 10 deposits in to do one cruise in 10, but really ... Are they that pathetic to actually do this.... I have to be a Sultan, I can't just take a 3 day cruise in one of those pathetic inside cabins... Having been in then in 1996 they suck.

On another note how people game the system, I am going to NYC and there is an awesome article written by a computer nerd, telling how the NY metro system games the game, by charging $2.50 per ride, but you can't by a $10 card because they give a 5% discount, so if you need 4 rides, you actually leave like a 1.95 on the card that they take as pure thievery... And this is your government...

So, again, what is the point... Nobody knows how many people game the system and further, Who TF cares. O our OP and a couple of cranks who think that anyone smarter than them is a HOG.... Whatever, get a life.

JC<----- lives a 1000 miles from an Ocean port and can't spend a long weekend screwing my boss showing up late Monday and skipping out early Friday... O wait he is the boss.:D:rolleyes:

    Love this!

I've been following this thread and I just don't see the problem.
