I know the schedules won’t be released until around October, but do people think RCCL will go back to British Isles in 2026?  We decided to do a land trip this year, and I don’t see any British Isles next year.

Celebrity isn’t an option.  We will be traveling with my father and the single supplement on that cruise line is ridiculous.  The same cabin for him is almost $4,000 more for him than it would be for us.  A single supplement is one thing, that high of one is another.

We are now leaning towards an Asian cruise next year, and putting off British Isles until 2026.  If RCCL doesn’t have itineraries we will switch to Princess.

If they bring back a smaller ship to North Europe they can do around British Isle cruises again.

I mentioned Voyager class ships because they are significantly bigger than Radiance class ships (~1.5 times bigger). I think a very limited range of ports is a bit of an exaggeration. Even now the vast majority of RCI ships sailing in Europe and the Mediterranean are Voyager class ships are larger. Ultimately I think RCI’s focus will be on how to generate the most revenue possible in the future, even if that means eliminating going to ports they currently go to.

Because they already withdraw many smaller ships from Europe and reduced varity of itineraries significantly. For us Royal is not attractive in Europe anymore and we are choosing other lines.

Currently Quantum class ships cruise to Alaska while Voyager class ships up to Oasis class ships cruise in the Mediterranean and Europe. RCI would still have a significant presence in these areas in the future even if their fleet no longer had smaller class ships.

But to a very limited range of ports and Voyager class is as old as Radiance class.

A year ago I would have agreed with you 100 percent. I still tend to agree with you today, but recent moves and announcements by RCI at least make me pause to think about their future. Allure is already doing short cruises from Port Canaveral. Later this year, their two newest Oasis class ships, Utopia and Wonder, will be doing short cruises from Port Canaveral and Port Miami respectively. They are building new beach clubs in Nassau and Cozumel. They continue to expand Coco Cay and Labadee is another popular RCI port, although currently not being visited. There are still plenty of ports in the Caribbean that can support larger ships like Oasis and Icon class ships. The bottom line is RCI is a for profit business that has to answer to stockholders. If, and I don’t know if this is true or not, RCI can generate more revenue with a fleet of bigger ships that frequent RCI’s ports on a daily basis, it would not surprise me if at some point in the future RCI no longer goes to ports that cannot accommodate larger ships.

Think outside the Caribbean. This would mean no more Royal in e.g. Northern Europe, Eastern Med and Alaska.

I totally agree with Georgia_Peache.  It's so port sensitive, that we can't take the risk of sleepless nights.   However it would have been nice to be on a new ship.   What's the deal anyway?!   Why can't they just make them the way they use to?  As word travels fast, I'm wondering if this is going to effect how many choose these ships moving forward?

Less weight is the goal and less steel is used but more plastic and similar material that looks shiny but is less solid and creates more movement and noise.

When I was on the Summit last year, the master was Captain Nigel, who I believe was Irish. Definitely not Greek.

Few exceptions always possible, in the past it was all Greek.

Not from direct experience, but this is also a connecting stateroom if that matters to you with an interior door that will connect to 6676. You are also on the deck with obstructed views resulting from the lifeboats, but are in a section that does not have any in front of you, so that won't be an issue. However there is direct downward limitations with the deck extension below. Not certain but you may be correct regarding this being the smoking area directly below as well. Below you internally is an area of retail shops and the hallway to Two70.

If you are uncertain of this location you can be moved to any available stateroom in your same assigned sub-category which I believe is 3D/4D (in this case I believe with a GTY they are considered the same).  Just contact whomever you booked through and they can confirm alternate location availability and move you if desired.

No switch possible if booked in Scottland/UK.

As many have said, we do not book a cruise based on who the captain may be. However, Captain Kate may be an exception. Our last two cruises were both on the Celebrity Beyond; 7 days with Captain Kate and 11 days this past January with Captain Leo (I think that was is name).

We met both captains in the hallways and Captain Kate was great to talk to. Captain Leo was also approachable, but it was obvious that he was uncomfortable talking with us. It may have been because Captain Leo's first language was not English. I am not sure what his fist language is, but whatever it is it was it was "Greek' to us (probably was actually Greek).  For a quick conversation in the hallway it did not really make much difference, but every time that he made a ship-wide announcement it was impossible for us to understand a word that he said. Luckily, no emergency announcements. In this case, the Cruise Director should have made all ship-wide announcements.

He is indeed Greek like all Celebrity Captains with exception of Captain Kate. And they are all used to speak and understand English, so for sure he was not uncomfortable because of language...

  9. I don‘t understand why people ar still booking this ships and even with noise state they had a great cruise. If you are not even able to sleep which is a basic requirement your expensive cruise is simply ruined. And I don‘t understand how Celebrity can still praise this ships as the greatest, they should be ashamed.

Thank you everyone for your replies.  Your answers help me to decide to bring a small insulated bottle so that I pour the amount of wine that I would consume at port instead of bringing the whole bottle.

Why don‘t you simply buy a glass of wine while ashore?

They can change most newer ships to LNG ....

This is not correct, you can not switch all newer ships from oil to LNG easily. Such a change requires a full rebuilt of the ship and has been done only in very few cases (Container ships) at very high cost. Maybe you confuse it with adding shore power connection to cruise ships that is indeed done more often.

I’m in the same situation.  Thanks for sharing,  So, am I understanding the Celebrity waffle breakfast “at the top” would be approx 30 min and not 60-90 min??

For this waffle trip they take the next train back down so you have a longer stop.

One reason we booked the train through the ship is that, especially during the summer months (which is when we are going, July 2025) is that the train can sell out and I am not going to Norway one time and risk missing this thing. I am a train buff and this is a major bucket list item for me.

If you book the train directly in advance your travel is guaranteed as well.

We will be on the Apex to the Norwegian fjords and planning to take the Flam Railway to the top of the fjord. Looking at pricing, it is $69 pp round trip to book directly with the Flam Railway and almost $200 per person to book Celebrity’s excursion. Celebrity may offer their own trains and do include a waffle breakfast and staying at the top for 60-90 minutes before returning to the train to head back down. If we are to book directly with Flam Railway, how long do we have at the top before we have to be back on the Train to return? Is there time to get a cup of coffee or use the facilities? One reviewer said because the train was running late, they were told not to get off the train , at all. Other reviewers say not much to see at the top so need to get off the train. Hoping that some of you who have done direct booking with Flam Railway or taking Celebrity’s excursion will have some input. Thanks so much.

They are the same trains, parts of each train are reserved for ship groups and otherbparts for individual bookings. Schedules are the same no matter if you book direct or via ship. They all stop at the waterfall for about 15 min and on top for about 30 min.

None of the other Cunard ships have cabins under the Comm Club so hard to tell. The Comm Club is pretty mellow so there’s not much noise to begin with.

Thanks! So usually there is no loud music and dancing until late?

  16. Question to all experienced Cunard travellers: Is it noisy if you have a cabin directly below the Commodore's Club? There are many on Queen Anne deck 11 forward.
