  1. I purchased the BOGO package for an upcoming Anthem cruise. I understand that this is supposed to give me specialty dining for the first two nights of the cruise, however, on my cruise planner calendar, there is only a reservation blocked for the first night. I know that restaurants/dining times for the BOGO are not assigned until onboard the ship, but should I still reserve mytime dining for the second night just in case? Or will that somehow mess up the BOGO reservations?

I'm new to RCI, so not sure how all of this works. Thanks in advance for your help.

  2. Here's a link to the add-on's

    https://shop.dolphinencounters.com/#/Addons

Thanks for this info. According to that link, the "Junkanoo Play Pass" is $39/pp, which includes unlimited use of all premium water sport items and snorkeling gear as well as access to the inflatable Aquapark.

Does anyone know if they sell a cheaper pass to just the inflatable Aquapark without the snorkel gear, etc.? Already paying $75/pp for the beach day excursion. Another $39/pp seems a bit excessive, but I know my daughter will want to use the inflatables. Also, it looks like the number of passes they sell online are limited. Is that just the presale and they sell more day of if people are looking to buy?

  3. How is the internet on the Summit? I've seen conflicting information. Is it good enough for streaming services? I have the unlimited internet as one of my perks, so would love to know what I can actually use it for other than checking email.

  4. Thanks for the additional responses. My dad has a transport chair, but for whatever reason doesn't want to bring it. I think we'll aim to get to the port around 11 am and just take it as it comes. He will see if he can get the "pusher" to take him directly to the room rather than deposit him in the buffet or elsewhere. He has had luck with this on NCL, so we are hoping that Celebrity will be the same. If not, he can spend some quality time sitting with his granddaughter while I go get his chair for him. One way or another, we'll get on the ship and have a good week. Logistics of getting on and off can be rough, but everything in between will hopefully make it worth it!

  5. Thank you all for the replies. My father is amputee, so can do limited walking but not any distance. He will primarily rely on his wheelchair once onboard the ship.

So, based on the responses, someone will get him on the ship at the port, but he may not have access to his wheelchair for some time after that? This will be a problem for him. What time do rooms usually open? Has anyone had success getting on the ship and being brought directly to their room to transfer to their rented wheelchair? On other lines, he has has been able to be brought to his room straightaway to get his wheelchair. He won't be happy if he is "stranded" elsewhere on the ship.

  6. I will be traveling on Summit in August with my father who has a disabilty. He rented a wheelchair, which is supposed to be waiting for him in his room on boarding, but he is concerned about navigating at the port. Can anyone relay their experience? Is there ample room to sit and wait for assistance getting on the ship? How is check in handled? He will have very limited mobility at the port. Is it a zoo early in the day? Is he better off waiting until later to arrive and board? Any advice is appreciated.

  7. Is there anything from the prem non alcoholic package that you cannot get with the classic beverage package? I don't drink alcohol. Don't need the premium water or perrier, but would like the smoothies, juices, coffees, etc. Just trying to figure out if i need to "upgrade"

  8. What has been the experience of converting the Classic drink package (included as a promo perk) to the premium non alcoholic package? Someone mentioned that they thought you could do it for $4/nt (plus gratuity) once onboard the ship, but that not all ships allow it. I will be on Summit in August and don't drink alcohol, but would take full advantage of the prem non-alcoholic package.

Also, are there any nonalcoholic beverages excluded from the Prem package?

    Thanks.

  9. Thanks for the info. I am looking forward to sailing on a smaller ship. I loved the Breakaway (activities, entertainment, specialty dining), but am very happy to have a more chill environment to relax without all of the crowds.

How is the evening entertainment? I don't see much posted about it. I think that's the one thing I'll really miss from NCL.

  10. I've done the Bermuda itinerary many times before on NCL and love the port, but decided we needed a change of scenery on the ship. Tell me what you love about Summit! Any must see/do activities and entertainment? Out of the way spots to enjoy the ocean breezes? Don't miss meals?

The only thing I love more than being on a cruise is planning for one, so tell me what I should be planning for and getting excited about!

  11. You can change from the classic alcohol to the premium non alcohol for $4 per person per day plus the 18% gratuity. So you can get the drink package you want for both of you for $66.08 total if you select that package.

To purchase internet for both of you will be around $300 which is pretty much the OBC, but that's hoping the offer the buy one get one half off.

I'd take the drinks and internet as the perk and forget about the OBC. This way it guarantees internet for both of you, and the drinks you'd want.

The drinks or internet would immediately wipe out the OBC you selected and may end up costing you additional money. Unless I'm missing something drinks and internet definitely seem to be the best for you.

Thank you for this analysis! I never thought of it that way - probabably because I didn't realize I could convert the classic alcohlic package to the premium non alcoholic package at minimal cost. Can anyone confirm being allowed to do this on the Summit? If so, it might be the way to go. We also have some TA OBC, which will cover the added cost and some (not all) of the gratuities, leaving us with a minimal bill in the end.

I doubt that your daughter wants to share the internet package, most will want it to post pictures and send live updates of their vacations.

You hit the nail on the head. On other lines I've purchased a single unlimited package that we share for the week, but we always wind up bugging eachother to log off. As a teenager, she is a heavy social media user, and there is no point in extolling the virtues of unplugging for a week. It's beyond her comprehension. As an otherwise single traveller, I like having the option to communicate back home and browse online, maybe stream a movie if the connection can handle it. If it's being offered as a "free" option, I'd rather get us each our own connection so we don't like to squabble over who gets to be online.

  12. I am booking a 7 day cruise and get to pick two perks. The $300 OBC is a no brainer, but I am not sure what to pick for the other perk. I am deciding between the Classic Beverage Package and the Unlimited internet for for 2.

I will be traveling with my 13 year old daughter, so the internet package for both of us would be nice. What does the package usually cost? Is it $199 for the week? Cheaper if pre-purchased online? Any discount for the second person?

I do not drink alcohol (health reasons) and my daughter obviously would not get full value out of the classic package. Without the perk, I might consider the premium non-alcoholic package. Even if I bought the package or both of us, I am estimating that is around $360, so still less than the value of the internet, I think?

Any insight is greatly appreciated. I am new to Celebrity and it is very hard to get any concrete information off of their website.

  13. I have an alert on the fish site and it keeps sending me price drops for Feb 2018 NCL crusies, but then when I go to check the drops aren't there. I know NCL can change prices frequently, but this is happening multiple times a day. Has anyone else noticed this? I'm getting frustrated.

  14. I'll give another vote for the Waterfront. Last summer my dd and I spend every day sitting along the waterfront with books and enjoying the serenity. I also agree that the spa is fantastic, and if you can afford the price of the spa pass (often it is discounted if you prepurchase), you should go for it. During peak times, the spa can be crowded and noisy, but if you go at off times, it is quiet and wonderful. I could spend hours on those heated tile loungers.

  15. I have searched the existing threads and haven't been able to find exactly what I am looking for.

My Daughter is very sensitive to smoke and it triggers her asthma.

Are we safe booking a guarantee interior?

What dining room has the smoky entry and is there a way to make our reservation to avoid that dining room?

Does the smoke go up the spiral stairs to the decks above?

If we avoid the starboard side, anything else we need to worry about outside?

    Thanks all!

I think maybe you are confusing Anthem with NCL Breakaway? Breakaway has all the problems you describe due to the central location of the casino that allows smoke to permeate several areas of the ship. I've not sailed Anthem yet, but I've not heard about any of these problems on that ship.

  16. Thanks for the info. I am aware of the "hurricane cruise" last February and have seen the videos. I sailed from NYC in February 2 years ago and didn't have a problem, so am hopeful that it will not be a big issue next year. I know Anthem has had some bad luck, and it did give me pause before booking, but I decided to take my chances. We need a change from the Breakaway, and Anthem was my only other option for sailing from the NY area that time of year. Fingers crossed for calm seas and warm weather this time next year!
