  1. We are doing a transatlantic in April 2016. We would like to get a nice hotel $100 - $200 for the night that has store within walking distance to purchase wine and soda. We are not planning to purchase a drink package until later in the cruise, so would like to get by on two bottles of wine and 24 package of soda for a week. Cruise is 13 nights. I have been searching this site and others to get recommendations, but wanted to specify why we need the hotel to be close to grocery, drug or box store.

  2. I just transferred and I asked about price dropping. I was told that if the price drops, they will contact Celebrity, and work something out. She said not to expect a reduced price for what I paid already, but an upgrade or additional obc. I am fine with that, but so far I have not had a cruise that dropped in price, because I would loose perks to get the lower price.

  3. I had booked our last three cruises directly with Celebrity. When I kept reading posts that you could get more by transfering to a travel agency, I called two and one was going to give me nothing and one was going to give me $50 obc. I thought why bother. Then on our last cruise, I saw 200 - 300 people running around with a t-shirt advertising this company that others have hinted about. I called them and between the three cruises I have booked for next spring, they would give me close to $800 total. I googled the company and wasn't happy about some of the negative things being said. So I called another company that i figured would tell me no - but they said they would give me the same thing as the other company. So yesterday I transferred my reservations using the form on the celebrity website to the travel agency. I could try to give you a hint - but not sure whether I would be breaking the rules on how much info I can give - but a lot of people in U.S. shop at their store. I won't know until later if I am happy with their service. So keeping my fingers crossed.

  4. we have always gotten the drink package included when we booked our cruise. Except we are doing a transatlantic in the spring and you get no perks. We are not going to purchase the alcohol packages. On our last cruise, we found that one glass of wine with dinner was fine, and the rest of the time we had coffee - which is very good either in the MDR or at the buffet, and then a maybe a soft drink.

We will bring two bottles of wine on board to start the trip for our cabin use and if we decide to get a package later on we will get the nonalcoholic package. We don't drink enough during the course of the day to justify paying $55 or $65 a day.

  5. Wanted to let people know that I tried out some of the suggestions learned on the forum on cruise that we just returned from.

The folding bins that you can purchase at Target or Walmart work great for the overhead cabinet that is above the bed - works on Equinox, but Infinity has no cabinet above the bed, but they seem to have more storage areas.

Tried to order a 1/2 martini or smaller version at the Martini Bar, but the hostess told me that it wasn't allowed on the Classic package, so i would have to upgrade I told her I was told different, but she refused. So I went to the Casino bar and I got a martini no problem. Later in the week, I got apple martini's in the MDR during dinner. So you may not get them in the Martini Bar but you can get them elsewhere.

Lastly - when I got home I contacted a travel agency that I saw everyone wearing the t-shirts on board the ship, to see about transferring our reservation to them for our up coming cruise. I had contacted a local travel agency months ago and they would give me nothing for transferring, but this "t-shirt" company said they would give additional obc. I did do a lot of googling about the company and wasn't happy with some of the negative comments and problems that people had, so I am still deciding what to do.

thanks to everyone with all the helpful hints.

  6. Just wrote my Review. Since everyone cruises for difference reasons, it is hard to give you information that would not apply to you or what you like to do, so I tried to give info that would help you make decisions that work for you.

We found the food so good in MDR that we never thought about paying big bucks for a speciality dinner. We did pay $10 for the Bristro Five and will do that again. Room Service is good but there are free stuff and some items you have to pay for. We only ordered the free stuff and not one complaint. Order the chicken soup - really good.

We are not big alcohol consumers, so we got the classic beverage included, but for us it is about the coffee, juice and one or two glasses of wine and dinner. If we didn't have the alcohol, we would be fine. I wish Celebrity would offer a non-alcohol package which would cost them less and then let you have another perk to go along with it.

We had one problem that i will go into detail, but it was not Celebrities fault, but they took care of the situation so we are happy.

Our last island stop which was Tortola, BVI we booked a excursion called Town and Country for $39.75. We got on the bus (10 couples) and proceeded on the tour. The tour guide was horrible. He pointed out the bank, the pharmacy, the stop light, the grocery stop - no island history. We got to the other side of the island and we were stopped by the police because they noticed that our tires were bad and they said they would not let us go down the hills on bald, flat tires. We waited for 45 minutes for another ride to show up to take us back to the ship. The second vehicle was a 10 seater and got stuck on a block wall and we had to wait for a third vehicle.

As with any problem, some of the others on the bus were way over the top. One man was insisting that we write a letter and all sign it so Celebrity would give us a refund. I told him that it was not necessary that once we got back on the ship, we could go to the customer relations desk and they would take care of it. This man was getting so worked up and won't shut up, but the other bus finally got there and we went back to the ship. Once on board we went to customer relations and we were give our tour money back plus $20. They even called our room twice to make sure that we were happy with the way they handled everything. We were fine. This is why we like booking our excursions through Celebrity - they back everything up.

If you have any specific questions, I will hopefully have answers.

We took this cruise to relax, have good food and go places we had not been to and this was a good choice.

  7. we are just off the Infinity docking in Ft Lauderdale. We purchased the shuttle (through the hotel) from port to FLL airport - our flight was leaving at 11:53. We requested to take our own luggage off the ship, we went to deck 4 at the Martini Bar location and waited. At 7:15 they got the okay to let us off and we were the fourth or fifth couple in line for customs. Took us 30 seconds to get passed by customs and we went outside and the van took us immediately to the airport. We left the dock at 7:30 and were at the airport by 7:45 a.m. Had time for breakfast, used the free wi-fi to check emails and headed home. Very smooth and easy.

  8. will try to give more info later, but quick notes that we loved the ship, the staff, the food. We enjoyed the stops and we did a celebrity excursion on each island. It was hot, humid, and sticky, which we are not use to, so we were uncomfortable during the heat of the day. My husband overhead a woman at the airport that was on the cruise complaining about the food in the main dining room. We did not have one bad meal anywhere, we had room service and ate in the Bristo Five and i would rate everything a 9 or 10 on a scale of 1-10.

  9. we were at the Hilton Garden Inn. Used their direct website and booked a room king bed for $107 plus tax for total of $118, they have pickup from the airport to the hotel on arrival at FLL airport. When you are in the luggage area, used the phones at the shuttle bank and you call and let them know you are there and they are quick. no charge for pickup. Also have a shopping area across the road with a Ross, and other stores. located on the backside of the airport. nothing special, but clean and nice area.

  10. I will do a full review in a couple of days, but wanted to give quick info for future cruises out of Fort Lauderdale. We stayed in a hotel that had a shuttle company that charged $10 per person to go from hotel to port on the day of cruise, and you could purchase for additional $10 per person port to Ft. Lauderdale airport. We did both.

Once on board we had a flyer from ship that the cost to go port to airport was $20 per person, and if going to miami airport the cost was $30 per person.

Also had tours for the day after getting off the ship and then being dropped at the airport if your flight was leaving after 2:30 or 3:30 pm and the cost of the tours ranged in price of $65, $69 and $75.

One tour was for those flying out of Miami airport and that was $49.

  11. I have the same problem. I booked a cruise we are going on next week with a celebrity planner. I am able to go to the website and see the breakdown of everything. I booked three more cruise two weeks ago and I am NOT able to see the breakdown. I called yesterday and talked to someone on the website problem number and they said you never can see the breakdown and I went around and around with him that all my trips have been booked through celebrity and it is only the last three that we booked at the same time that I can not see the breakout. When we are on board next week, we are going to see about booking a future cruise and I will talk to the them about the website.

  12. we did the Fll port to mia airport two years ago and i think it was $30 each person. but can't find paperwork. If you go on the celebrity website they have bus tour of miami and airport drop off for under $40 each person, but your flight has to leave mia after 3:00. Call Celebrity and see if they are just offering the transfer only, if you have earlier flight. Otherwise, you will have to find a shuttle service.

  13. Yes on the additional discount. We booked three cruises B2B2B all for next year. first one is 13 day, received additional 100 off, next is 9 days, received 50 off, and last is 12 day and received 100 off. I did not know that we were going to get that, showed up on my receipt as YDR7-B2B Savings. First cruise is out of Fort Lauderdale, transatlantic to London, second Norway, third is Baltic.

  14. taking 13 day transatlantic cost for insurance is $89.00 per person, 9 day norway cruise - $89.00 per person, 12 day Baltic cruise (russia) $159.00 per person. Cruise Care Protection booked with cruise through celebrity. Insurance is like any insurance - you pay for something you hope won't happen and you get nothing back if nothing happens, but if something does happen, you are glad you got it. We had purchased an internet travel insurance coverage 5 years ago for a trip (not cruise) to europe and got hit with the storm of the century and were stuck in Paris. Insurance did not help us at all - so some times things work and sometimes they don't.

  15. call celebrity or your travel agent to ask about timing. We always purchase the travel insurance - currently have four trips booked and they average under $100 per person for each cruise. For us it is piece of mind - rather pay the insurance and know that we can get the money back on the cruise if we cancel for legit reason. Also if you have paid for the insurance and use choice air to book your flights the airfare is also refundable. Again double check with celebrity.

  16. i booked this cruise last week. I was going for the veranda guarantee room showing 1029 per person. I was dealing with the celebrity and the girl told me that if i did the concierge I would receive a veranda room with no obstructed view. (1249 per person). since we are going to be 8 days at sea, we decided to spend the extra and go for the concierge guarantee and two days after booking we received our assigned room - on deck ten.

  17. the ship provides a tour, but then takes you to airport. I was going to check with celebrity to see if they would bring back to ship, but that could be too long and not make it back in time for departure. I will check on Smiths.

don't want to rent car - we had a horrible time driving on the wrong side of the road in Australia and I don't want the stress.

  18. Just booked three cruises on Silhouette - first is transatlantic from Ft Lauderdale to Southampton, leave Southampton 9 day Norway ending in Amsterdam, and then Amsterdam for 12 day Baltic cruise ending in Amsterdam. 34 nights total. Due to bad weather back in 2008 we could not get to Stonehenge. Has anyone gone for the day from Southampton (says it is one hour away) and who would we book with to do a tour to get back to ship to head out for next cruise by 5:00 pm. Side note: any problem with taking three cruises in row ?? Leaving April 10 and end May 14, 2016, thank you in advance for any info

  19. You definitely need to catch a bus/shuttle. they will have a booth on the dock and you can buy a round trip ticket and the bus takes off when full and then another shows up. You can not walk, my husband and tried and ended coming back and taking the bus.

  20. we also booked a cruise for june 2016 with 123 promo. The OBC shows and the gratuities are posted and then backed out. The classic beverage drink package does not show anywhere and when I called, I was told that that has to be posted manually and they do the cruises leaving now and will get to our cruise after the first of the year. The reservation does show 123, so I am not worried. I did tell the lady I talked to that I would not make final payment until reservation was correct and the total was correct, which is in april 2016
