Grand canyon is open if you haven't been there. We are researching it now just in case...and we will not be wearing masks!

We'll certainly cruise again, but most likely not until 2023. The smoke has to clear & the dust has to really settle before any money comes out of our pocket.

I had my Legend cruise cancelled for May, then my Sept Radiance cruise cancelled in Sept. Both out of New York. I look forward to cruising with Carnival again. Hopefully there is a proven vaccine approved sooner than later and things can get back as close to normal a possible. Stay safe and healthy everyone.😎

My wife & I are taking the same strategy of thinking, in regards to (as you put it) realistically evaluating the situation. We've been cruising since the 80's and have decided that a hiatus from sailing is warranted at this moment in time.
We've come to the personal conclusion that we will not sail in 2021 at all, and will wait until 2022 before we make any logical decisions.
Practically & rationally speaking, I think our next cruise will be sometime in 2023 as well; and we'll (use) 2022 to plan our next voyage.
Happy sailing!

Getting lost in all this is getting crew back ( are they all even home yet)
I have 3 crew friends on Royal Caribbean and 1 friend on Carnival that are still on their ships. They're not having issues with the cruise lines, but rather the countries they live in. I must admit that the photos they've been sharing the past 3 months have been amazing. Hope they get home soon.
🤞Fingers crossed ....

Highly unlikely for August.
Although Carnival Cruise Line announced last month that they’d begin sailing on a limited number of ships starting August 1, the company now says that was a mistake.

What is the process to notify the cruise ship that you have added another cruise week to your already booked cruise.
We have never done a B2B, but already had a cruise booked and now we are booking the cruise right before ours too. So essentially making it a B2B (although there is a change in cabins).
There is generally a "holding area" for B2B'ers during disembarkation day, how do I get this information?

Look for that item on 4, 5 or 6 different web sites. Then come on here, and unless you have some sort of ad blocker, you'll see ads on here for that shirt (or similar). In addition to having an ad blocker, you may have to turn off "cookies" in your settings. Or, just ignore the ads like you would in a magazine.

ASTRAZENECA just announced that the vaccine they have developed has been VERY safe and successful in OVER TEN THOUSAND patients.
To avoid any lag time between approval and delivery they are moving ahead with production and will, if approved, be able to ship 300 million doses to the United States in SEPTEMBER of this year, and 2 billion worldwide.
21 hours ago, not-enough-cruising said:If you do a little further reading on this topic, the post is quite misleading. The vaccine has NOT been effective in "over 10,000 patients as stated". Oxford enrolled 10,260 patients in their study; the study follows a 1,000-patient phase 1 trial that still hasn't turned out top-line data. Phase 2 and phase 3 haven't even begun, and no product will be available for human use until this is done.
Granted; good news and progress, but no where near "ready for prime time."

Always a head scratcher......What day to book the Steakhouse. I know the first night out is too crazy, and don't want to miss the formal night.....too much to do on last night. What's a good night to do the SteakHouse and not miss out on something grand in the dining room?
We typically eat at specialty restaurants on night 3 and/or, on the 2nd formal evening, or both.

I heard this just this morning:
The Grand Turk Cruise Center is closed. It was previously scheduled to open 30 June 2020. The new opening date is 31 August 2020.
Source: GT travel info site
No surprise there given the CDC order, but this may put a damper on itineraries. Wonder if/when other ports follow suit?
Of course many other ports of call will follow suit. IT IS INEVITABLE. People may be ready to cruise, however the virus is not ready for them to do so...

Way to go Canada! They have been successful in preventing an extremely high COVID-19 death toll like in America. Canada is doing it right, they are listening to the virus itself & the advice of their health officials. Good for them!

I don't know about the rest of Canada, but in Quebec, it's not under control. The borders have been closed and it looks they will be for some time to come. Vermont has been doing a good job and we really don't want them to come down and infect us.
You might want to re-read what I wrote.
The virus does not lie. As of 5/29/20
Canada COVID-19 death toll 6,918
USA COVID-19 death toll 103,418

the State of Florida will decide on when cruising will return. The CDC will 'pre-align' it's guidance to what Florida wants.
The virus will decide when it's time. As of today 5/26/20 only 10 states in America are on the decline; 22 states are holding steady; and 18 states are rising with COVID-19 cases. The virus will decide when it's time...
