Prior to a cruise on HAL, we were upgraded to a suite. These suites have a special lounge for just those passengers. I thought it was lovely. When I returned I was reading Cruise Critic and a woman went on and on complaining that the toaster in that lounge was not convenient for her to toast her bread.
You NEVER know what bugs some people.

We have done Blu twice--once on Constellation and once on Eclipse. I have to say that I got quickly tired of the menu offerings. Some nights, I just ordered the everyday chicken (loved the gravy). But I don't care for the squab, pigeon, lamb items, etc.
I'm debating AQ on our upcoming Equinox cruise, but the added expense for Blu keeps me from it. It just does not seem worth the $$.
That's just for us. Maybe not for others. Have fun whatever you do!

Interesting. On a 9 day cruise, we asked for an accessible room because at the last minute, DH found he was having trouble walking. We were given nothing. Thank goodness, our stateroom attendant found a spot for his scooter.
Also, all the cruises that I check on usually have no acc. staterooms left even up to 6 months out.

Plus the weather in the western Caribbean in mid-July sounds ghastly

As the OP, I appreciate all the thoughts and advice. Upon reflection, I think we'll pass on NCL unless a huge bargain pops up. I still love Celebrity, HAL in the suites, any Disney cabin, and RCCL.

We were on the Dream two weeks ago. Coming into Nassau, cross currents or something hit the Dream and we really took a big roll. I was on the Art of the Theme tour and glanced out the window. One moment we were looking at Nassau and the next we were looking at nothing but water

We are not experienced cruisers but know many of you are. We've done 3 Celebrity Aqua class, one HAL where we got lucky and got a Neptune suite, and one Disney concierge. Loved all of them; DH needs a handicapped room.
Good friends are doing a NCL in July and want us to go along on a 7 day western Caribbean. It's not all that cheap and I've always gotten the opinion that NCL was kind of cheesy and nickel/dime sort of line. That may be TOTALLY untrue. We can't afford the Haven and I don't even want to spring for the Mini Suites.
Would we be happy?

As the original poster and having done our cruise last week, I want to say that I thought the menu was fine. I loved the potstickers, so much so that I had two orders of them. The BBQ short ribs were outstanding--maybe I just got lucky. I thought the whole evening was a lot of fun; just about everybody I saw was dressed up and the crew entered into the fun. We were just too tired to stay up for the fireworks.

Just off the Dream this morning. I gotta tell you that I was amazed at the families with lots of kids. We were in Concierge (just husband and self) and there were even lots of families there , many in 1 bedroom suites. I kept figuring up how much the cruise was costing these families. And nobody looked like a movie star either -- just average folks.
I don't know how families afford it, but they certainly did on this cruise.
BTW: was Concierge level worth it? Probably not . Would I do it again? In a heartbeat !!

Disney already has our credit card information for onboard charges. However, I have a Disney Visa Redemption card, another Visa (not Disney) redemption card, plus some cash.
Can I put these all on my account onboard?

I've been reading and there seems to be a lot of unhappiness with the "Pirate Menu". Can anyone tell me why?

Thanks!!

We are on a 4 day Dream cruise beginning on September 5. I really, really, really want to eat at Remy and we have reservations. However, I cannot bring myself to spend over $200 on the wine pairing for the two of us. We will have drinks in Meridian prior to being seated in Remy and then we will have (I assume) the special cocktail that begins the meal at Remy. Question: do they serve wine by the glass at Remy and does anyone have a wine list ? I googled Wine list Remy but didn't get much help. We are not huge drinkers but do enjoy a bit.
Thanks in advance.

We won't miss anything at all if the ship skips Nassau. Missing Castaway would be a shame but if it's 4 straight sea days, that's great for me. I love the ship.

Thanks to the above, I think. I have even read that you are supposed to tip 15-20% of what the meal would cost on land. Seriously? The Remy meal would cost way more than $85 on land (see Victoria and Albert).
I think we will add a tip in the 20 range.

I've heard two sides: first, the cost includes gratuity and second, it's expected to add gratuity. If we add gratuity, how much And how much to whom? I'm of the mind that the cost of the meal should include the tip but maybe I'm wrong.
Any advice here?

During the cruise, I know there is a place you can book a future cruise. Is there any discount? Or do they just go with the prices set on the DCL website?

We are booked for a 4 night cruise, leaving Port Can. on Sept 5--right in hurricane season. We live in Florida and know that but we're taking our chances. Questions: 1) Will the ship still go out and try to avoid the storm? 2) Might they even cancel? 3)If DCL cancels, I assume there is a refund?
Probably won't ever happen but what if

Thanks, all. We parked at the cruise terminal on our RC cruise - SUPER convenient altho a little pricey. I think we'll park there again--seems silly to spend all that money on a concierge suite on DCL and get cheap to park.

Any parking places in Port Canaveral have shuttles that can load a small/medium motorized scooter?

We have done 3 Celebrity cruises, 1 HAL, 1 Carnival, and 2 Disney. We liked them all , even the Carnival on an old ship. So, we are easy to please. We like to eat, relax, drink wine, play trivia and see most of the shows, and talk with people.
What do you think we would like about Princess? Any ships to avoid?

We are splurging this September and will be in a concierge stateroom on the Dream. The Concierge lounge appeals to us greatly. What do they have to eat in there? Snacks that would suffice for lunch? Wine all day or just for happy hour? Any other information or advice?

Yes, I meant on cruises. Are Celebrity suites worth it?

We did a TA from Barcelona to Florida in late November. The weather was lovely and the ocean was like a lake the entire crossing.
You just don't know.
