  1. I'm actually surprised more people aren't saying they've experienced this. This happens to me all the time on the RCI site. It'll show a good price for a room and when I open it, the price either completely changes or the category is sold out.

I've grown so accustomed to RCI IT problems that it just seems normal now.

True, but this one allowed you to book the price all the way to the end. I booked it to see if my husband could go and final payment is not until the 16th if I need to cancel.

  2. I was just coming to post that I have not seen or heard of any of these errors in a while. I remember reading about those that did get cancelled.

We were fortunate that our Christmas 2014 pricing error was honored. We ended up in a D1 balcony Christmas week for around $900 total for 2 people.

There was one when the Winter Adventure 2018 sailings were released the first day. for a bit. I snagged the RS for 2500 pp including taxes and a GS for 1100 pp including taxes. I think that deal lasted only a few hours.

  3. Just curious as to how long after you booked did they cancel, and did they call you?

The first time it was about 2 weeks. They (not sure which department) called and said their was a pricing glitch and they could not honor they price followed up with an email with the OBC credit. They did give me a 200.00 Future OBC coupon for their mistake. When I went to use the coupon on my sailing they said it was not valid. I called the number back that originally called me about the cruise cancellation and spoke to someone in mbayleys office, not resolutions or customer service and she was able to apply the coupon.

The second time I got an email within 2 hours saying the cruise price was incorrect and they would not be honoring it. Sorry.

Since then, I have not seen too many pricing errors other than a messed up formula for solo travelers that reduced the cost by 50% instead of increasing the cost. This happened on the main page, but changed when you continued with your booking.

  4. April 16 $385

    April 23 $368

    Both are for balconies

Took screen shots and talking to management and waiting for call back Will be interested to see what happens if anything:rolleyes:

I actually booked cruises in the past during a pricing glitch and they cancelled them citing website pricing error.

However, I am heading out on the Jewel next month in my balcony deal of $450pp including taxes that they did not cancel.

  5. I posted this on the Oasis roll call as well.

I just saw this sailing has dropped in price for some that live in certain states.

Resident rates applicable to some states for

C1 Central Park Balcony 602.00 (Includes lunch and bottle of wine promotion).

    Oceanview Balcony 658.00

Since it is before final payment, you may be able to score a big price drop or upgrade. Go do a mock booking to see if your state is included. I know Georgia is.

  6. Fortunately Chase fraud dept caught it after purchases at Target.com and Walmart.com. BestBuy.com was next - for $1400!!! Tried Apple.com, also.

I know this is from the cruise because I only use this credit card for travel and Brilliance charges were all it was open for.

    Anyone else have this experience?

I would call Royal Caribbean post cruise, but also there are ways to get the number while travelling through the airport, taxi, ports etc by scanning them. The best protection is a secure RFID wallet.

  7. I just called the desk and got a message they were closed and to visit their award winning website.

The problem is their award winning website doesn;t show availability for the larger suites for 5 or more which is the only reason I ever need to call.

  8. I'm a tad confused. You said you were using Choice Air, but booked via the VS website using your Chase card & points. You ended up NOT booking with Choice?

But, I did want to answer your question about missing a Choice Air flight in case others are looking here: Choice will NOT get you on the NEXT flight to Atlanta. They will get you on the NEXT AVAILABLE set of flights to get you to Atlanta. No guarantee it will be a nonstop - you may end up with BCN-AMS/CDG-ATL or something else. And it may not be that same day; a seat has to be open on a flight for you to be accommodated, and you are in the re-assignment list based on fare paid and SkyTeam elite status.

Do not count on the airline holding the flight; there are many, many factors involved with delaying a departure. It's a very rare occurrence nowadays for a flight to be held for as long as some have said.

My plan fell through booking using my Chase rewards as the mileage seats were not available so I am thinking about using Choice Air as it is 200.00 cheaper versus booking Delta Direct.

Thanks for your response. That is exactly what I was looking for. So there would not be an additional cost to be put on different flights? So they may put us on other airlines as well?

  9. I have had a problem with dining on my last 3 cruises. We had early dining with 2 rooms. The first time we were assigned at 2 large different tables next to each other. The ship was full and they could not change us, so a couple at the next table offered to switch with us.

The next time, I was booked together, linked reservations and we were assigned 2 different tables on 2 different floors on Thanksgiving 2016. Called the TA on board who verified that we should have been placed together. The matrie d said they were full and we could not be switched. I

ended up posting my disappointment on their Facebook page and it was changed the next day.

The last time was a 3 day weekend cruise on Enchantment in December. This time I was proactive and emailed rcl dining. They had 4 of us early dining and 1 late dining. I emailed the rcldining person a few times and she assured me that we were all at early dining at the same table after talking to the ship even screenshooting my information the ship relayed back to her. Lo and behold we ended up with late dining. This time the Matrie d was able to change it upon boarding.

I am going again in Jan with my sister and friends and hope that I won't have the same problems.

  10. Just got notification from Southwest airlines that flights may be affected going through Atlanta on Friday due to Winter Storm Helena. What are the local weather forecasters predicting? Should we try to change our flight? We are scheduled to land in Atlanta at about 6:30 PM.

When do you sail and where do you sail from?

If you are leaving on Sat then I would try to get to Atlanta ASAP in the day in order to get out. Do not wait to change your flights, do it now! By 6:30 the storm will be here and it may be worse around the airport than north suburbs, but what the other poster said it is a crapshoot, but change your flights ASAP.

  11. I used a company called natural wonders for my rainforest hike. I am not sure if they have a twilight hike or not but if they do use this company as opposed to the royal Caribbean excursion. We saw many large buses and vans in the rainforest and they made 2 stops. Our made a hike to a pool where there was no one else and then out guide took us to a third waterfall past all of the ships excursions. It was one of the best excursions in my life.

  12. I am doing preliminary planning for a family cruise either April or June of 2018. There would be three families (A) 2 adults; (B) 2 adults, 1 teen, 1 child; © 2 adults, 2 teens. Not really sure what cabin configurations or options would work the best. My thinking is to get three balcony cabins and

two inside cabins in close proximity. I don't have any experience or knowledge of any family or two bedroom cabins/suites but I am guessing that would be much more costly. The two teenage girls will be almost 15 and the boys will be 15 and 12........wanted to make this enjoyable for everyone so figured 5 cabins in total and not 3.

    (1) Would the Allure/Oasis offer the most in activities for the teens? How would that compare to the Freedom class ships? My wife and I will actually be on the Allure in a few months......any advantage of booking the family cruise while we are on board?

    (2) Any particular RCCL promos I should keep my eye open for? WE have also sailed on Carnival and Celebrity but I thought RCCL might be the best for the family cruise.

    (3) The kids are in VA/MD and I am in NY. Was looking at cruises out of Port Liberty. Not sure if that is a good option. I believe that would be the Anthem. I did take them out of Baltimore in 2010 on the Carnival Pride. That is the most convenient port for everyone.......ships are older with little in the way of bells and whistles.

Any suggestions and advice would be well received......thank you.

    Marty

footnote......this April will be my first Allure experience; one family has been on both the Allure and Oasis; one family has not been on either ship

I have planned family trips before. I found that if we were close to each other, that helped with communication and whereabouts of all the members. If you have the 5 rooms in the same general area especially for the cousins they could easily get to each others rooms. You will have to book one adult and one child in each room if they are not next to or across the hall.

We have also had a general area that we pick out when we board on the pool deck. Sports pool versus swimming pool, port versus starboard, deck number to make it easy for families to meet if they are going to the pool.

  13. 1:15 is a little tight for your AMS connection particularly if you are unfamiliar with the transit process at AMS and even more particularly if you are flying in on embarkation day. Check the minimum connection times for AMS.

I think I saw mention of a direct flight from BCN to ATL around 10:40 and if you can do self disembarkation and hop in a cab that is a doable option if there are no issues with the arrival.

I'd like a little more leeway personally just because I hate tight connections and self disembarkation. And we no longer arrive in the embarkation city the day of departure and haven't for at least the last twenty years.

Sorry my post was confusing. We are going to Barcelona 2 days early. I was concerned about the return flight from bcn to atl and if choice air would still be helpful since it was after the cruise.

  14. My FF miles did not work on my flight from ATL-BCN for my September cruise from Barcelona.

Choice Air has a 1040am flight non stop available or a 120pm flight with a connection in Amsterdam with 1:15 layover.

Has anyone had experience with missing their flights or connection when booking with Choice Air and were able to get rescheduled at no cost? I know that they will fly you to the next port if you missed the boat but what about the return flight?
