  1. :( thanks, will plan to get off early. Was hoping the issues were only due to this being the first sailing of this itinerary, guess not.

Yes, plan to get off early. We were also on the Sept.18 sailing. In Monterey, we were off the ship and on our way to the rental car agency by 8:30. We also got off the ship quickly in Santa Barbara. Our wait for a tender to return to the ship wasn't too bad, but we headed back to the ship mid-afternoon rather than during the end of the day rush. I guess that we were lucky.

  2. Would you consider renting a car for the day? We just returned from a Pacific Coastal cruise and rented a car from Enterprise on Delmonte ave. They picked us up at the cruise pier in a van and brought us to their rental office, which is right up the street, and returned us to the pier after we returned the car. Great service and nice car. You may enjoy going to the aquarium and doing the 17 mile drive, which has lots of scenic overlooks. It was an easy drive. How long will you be in port?

  3. the code CC5 is for the pickup or drop off location. I just rechecked and that is the code.

    copied and pasted:

    pick-up PORT CANAVERAL SHUTTLE SHIPS - CC5

    PORT CANAVERAL , FL

We rented from Budget one way with pick up at Orlando airport and drop off at the 8401 Astronaut Blvd. location and the drop off location code was ZC5. Not sure why the code was different from yours unless it has something to do with the one way rental.

  4. Obviously, but any idea what is available beyond the every day value menu. The OP was hoping for lamb or duck

As a D+ cruiser, I would think that you must have an idea about what else is available on the MDR menu on lobster night. I see that you have 7 upcoming cruises listed between September and December, 2015. If you are interested in what MammaBear 55 might order if she doesn't want lobster, maybe you could post the available choices when you return from your September 13 cruise.

There is a July 30, 2016 sailing on Grandeur (5 day, Bermuda) listed on their website. See schedule of cruises.

Here are links to information from Royal Caribbean's website about sailing with disabilities and special needs. Your friend should contact Royal Caribbean's special needs department and ask them any specific questions that they may have.

  6. I am having a difficult time with getting anyone at Royal to get my group linked. I have tried to contact Royal they say Agent has to handle agent claims because we are set up as My time Dinning Royal has a policy not to link? Is there someone I can contact via email to try and get this resolved. We are a party "Group" of 10 and have prepaid and reserved My Time Dinning and Mystery Dinner but we are not linked together? Therfore we are being told that we are not reserved to sit together??

    Thanks for any help..

I have had MTD for a party of 10 before when we booked our cruise with a travel agent. The travel agent was the one who had to link the reservations. I would call the travel agent back and ask again and ask to speak to a supervisor if needed.

When I have booked my cruise directly with RCCL I was able to have them link reservations on the phone by providing everybody's reservation number. Each party also had to call and do the same.

  7. I always used to overpack, but have done better since I started using some of the packing advice that I've read:

Pick a color scheme using a few different colors so that you can mix and match outfits and wear some things more than once.

On casual nights, wear a top for the first time to dinner and then wear it later during the week with shorts during the daytime.

Bring a few pair of shoes that will go with multiple outfits.

Some people bring a simple black dress and wear it more than one night and change their look using accessories (scarf, shawl, jewelry).

    Happy cruising!

  8. In my opinion, toddlers are too young for swimming with the turtles if it is a catamaran excursion. I have done it a few times and there are usually several boats and lots of people swimming in the same area in deep water. It might be better to see if you can find a glass bottom boat trip to see the turtles or wait until they are older.

  9. What's your favorite thing to do in Vancouver in the few days before boarding a ship to Alaska?

Have you checked the Canada/ Alaska/Pacific Coastal board? There are lots of great suggestions for Vancouver there.

  10. Curious how big your party was? We have 11 and I fear we won't be able to just walk in without a reservation.

I strongly recommend making reservations for large parties. We made reservations for our party of 12 and sat at the same table and had the same wait staff every night. Our table was always ready for us and we never had to wait.
