  1. It is still made. I guess they are just not carrying it and didn't want to admit to it.

I have no trouble purchasing Sheridan's Coffee liquor but then I live in Canada.

I wish I could purchase the Sheridan's Berries liquor! But I found out that it's only being produced and sold in the U.K. Not sure if it's specifically just in England or the rest of the U.K. I'm totally going to hit up my next relative visiting the U.K.!

  2. And dont get me started on the tender ticket fiasco !!! 2 weeks before sailing we were informed we were no longer docking but needed to tender, no worries i thought ive done this before, not with RCI I hadnt.

the night before the tender port on the cruise compass It stated that if you were not on a RCI excursion you needed to get a ticket for tender from the shall we dance lounge between 8am-9.30 the next day and to expect it to be busy and they recommended we dont get off until after 1pm (we arrive 9am) , so annoying that we had to get tickets in the morning but this I did, I arrived at said lounge at 8.20 am for a ticket, Estimated time to get off 11am !!!! when I asked why so late I was told people had been queuing since 7am !!!! (im on bloody holiday) ,

Anyway what incensed me the most that was when our ticket number was called to go to the tender NO ONE EVEN ASKED TO SEE THE BLOODY TICKET !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! so waste of time going to get one .

Wait... is this the same on all RCL ships? If you don't have a RCL excursion you have to get a timed ticket to get off the ship at port? My family will be on the Allure for the first time. Is this standard?

  3. We also bought the drink package and were glad we did. It was $49 a day per person. Now that might seem high but beers are $8.50 and mixed drinks are $13. Since bottle water, juices, and pop are included its a no brainer if you drink at all. We would order 1 fresh OJ with Breakfast then have a bottle water to go as we changed for the pool. Order 2 drinks by the pool, 1 or 2 around dinner. 1 after the show, and more water before bed. The typical day I just mentioned would cost $75 a day. Now I know it doesn't really cost Royal Caribbean $13 a drink but thats what they charge me. And the best part of the drink package? You can be adventuress. Never had a coconut Mojito? Order one. Don't like it? Dont drink it. Try a Chocolate Martini. Repeat.

I keep looking at the drink package and thinking it's just not worth it for me. BUT, as you said, if I'm having juice in the morning and will want cold water as well..

Do you recall what the charge is for OJ, water and pop? I'd really like to figure out if a drink package would work for us or not. Not a big pop drink but one or two during the week maybe. Our son would enjoy pop but I'm not letting him have unlimited all week.

  4. When I made my purchase, I did print the confirmation, but it doesn't list the participating restaurants. In fact, if 150 CP isn't included as an option anymore, then I don't think I want the 3-night package.

I just signed back in and looked for fine print. I found this line as the last sentence: "Not valid for premium experiences including Chef's Table, wine pairings dinners, Izumi Hibachi experience and Mystery Dinner Theater."

I guess 150 CP should be acceptable, right?

Myster Dinner Theatre? Is this something available on the Allure, or is it another ship?

  5. We're on the Indy now and booked the Dining package onboard. It was $70 for 3, $85 for 4 and $100 for 5 so prices seem to vary by ship. We're going to do Chops and Giovannis twice and us the 5th one for a galley tour. We were able to choose any times / days we wanted and have booked for 18:30 on each of our chosen nights.

What is the gallery tour you are opting for with your dining package?

  6. Yes, they are in many souvenir stores and most all liquor stores, Sizes vary from nips to about half a bottle, usually 3 to 6 flavors. St. Thomas would be the best place of what you mentioned.

Awesome! Thank you! A bunch of small nip size bottles for friends and family sounds like a great gift idea. We'll be stopping at Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas so I'll keep my eyes open.

I'm also hoping to find those Tortuga rum cakes there I keep reading about.

  7. Thank you! I'll buy some bubble wrap or something then. I just wasn't sure if it were illegal to "hide" in my luggage LOL

We brought bubble wrap, duct tape and freezer bags on a trip to the Dominican Republic. We brought back 6 bottles of rum (4 of which can not be bought in Canada or the States unfortunately). We double-bagged a bottle in freezer bags, wrapped it up in bubble wrap, secured with duct tape and nestled them among clothing. 3 bottles per suitcase. It worked beautifully.

We plan on doing this again with port purchases on our cruise. BTW, we declared we were over our limit on rum (by 2 bottles) and they just waived us through. This was coming back into Canada 1 1/2 months ago.

You used the word souvenir. Are you referring to those multi packs of different flavors of rum? If so, you will most likely get those through ship security and take back to your room. Bring a few quality plastic bags, pack in there and wrap in dirty t shirts, no need for bubble wrap. Have a great cruise!

Ohh, multi-packs of different flavours of rum? I need to know more about these please! How many bottles in a pack? About what size? About how much? Can these be purchased in St. Thomas, St. Kitts, or Nassau?

  8. Well you learn something new every day. I had no idea Sheridan's is not sold in the States. I just tried phoning a store in the States to see if they carry Sheridan's Berries (since the LCBO does not carry it here in Ontario). No wonder Sheridan's sells off the ship so fast then. When I first read this thread, I thought maybe the price of Sheridan's is just that good on the ship.

The States also doesn't sell Barcelo Cream and neither does Canada. I'm so glad I brought back 4 bottles from the Dominican Republic but man, I'm wishing I didn't give 2 of them away now. (wry grin)

  9. Loving your review and hope you'll keep on writing!

BTW, I say it was totally the hotel's fault. You know they sold that room as quick as they could. Last August we went to Moncton and missed our flight. Yep... turns out the highway here closed some lanes and we didn't know. Anyways, luckily they were able to put us on the next flight. I am so glad I phoned the hotel to let them know we would be late checking in. Because later that night, THREE couples were trying to check in around 10 pm and the hotel gave away their rooms!! They were a group travelling together. Swore up & down they phoned the hotel and talked to so-and-so who promised their rooms would be there, but they weren't. Ugh..

Ohh, and my 13 year boy will be very happy to find there's a comic book store in FLL. :) Thanks. I'm adding that to my cruise planner information.

  10. I love your spreadsheet idea and am going to copy the idea for our cruise next year. Thanks for posting a picture of it.

We also have a couple of Olympus TG cameras in our house. We gave our son the TG-820 for his birthday one year and it worked so well we gave our daughter the TG-850 a year later. I was really surprised that with the newer 850 model Olympus took away the metal lens cover the 820 has. Having the lens automatically covered with the metal cover every time the camera turns off is nice. No worrying about scratches or losing the lens cover.

Could you tell me what GPS tracker app you are using? That's pretty cool having it track your vacation. I'd love to try it out.

And thank you so much for posting photos of the Teen Compass! I never knew there is a Compass just for teens!! I'm making a note to look grab one on our first day for the boys.

  11. The dividers can be opened.

Oasis class balcony dividers can open. Quantum and Freedom class also. Voyager class depends on the ship, Explorer has solid steel walls as the balconies are built inside the hull. Not sure about other classes. Also, aft balconies can differ even on ships where side facing can open.

    Great! Thanks!

  12. What ship are you sailing on? Some classes gave dividers that can be opened with captains permission (almost always granted) while others have solid walls that physically cannot be.

Sent from my SM-T810 using Tapatalk

Ohh, I didn't realize that. I thought all the dividers could be opened.

So how about Allure of the Seas then? Deck 7 port-side.

  13. I have been looking for a cruise journal but haven't found one I like yet.

Someone on this thread mentioned designing her own pages with beach themes. That's a great idea! It occured to me I can designed mine own using artscow, picaboo or another company.

    Thanks! Great ideas here!

  14. Friends of ours have sailed with Royal twice and are going again a third time. This time we are joining them. I'm wondering if they can apply for the Bring-a-Friend.

They booked direct with Royal. We booked through Air Miles as our AM's expire this December and have just over $3,500 towards the cruise.

I provided Air Miles our friends' reservation # so we would be linked, and our friend gave Royal our reservation #.

Do you think they could apply, or would they be denied because we went through Air Miles?
