  1. I would like to know if there is an overhang shading the balcony cabins on the Lido deck? We are looking at staying in cabin 9281. If anyone has stayed in that cabin or area, what did you think of it? Thank you for your help. We are looking at sailing on a B2B in the Fall and doing both the Eastern & Western Caribbean.

  2. Not even close to enough room for a sofa in the interiors. You have stumbled upon Carnival's little secret that has fooled many people, and I have gotten flamed for exposing it in the past. The insides are definitely not the 185sf that are claimed by all the deck plans, PVPs, TAs, etc. And even if they somehow are 185, then the indoors part of the balcony would be 220sf (plus the balcony). I was in both on the Dream back in 2010 within minutes of each other, and I was convinced that the indoors part of the balcony was quite a bit larger, as our inside definitely had no room at all for a sofa. Our inside seemed at least 3 feet shorter in length, while the width of each is the same (just over 9'). So I started taking a tape measurer with me, and sure enough, my next inside on the Magic was measured to be 150sf, give or take a few inches. My next balcony on the Breeze was measured to be 185sf, give or take a few inches. The difference was almost 4 feet in length, with the width being equal. My 4K French Door room on the Miracle was measured to be 185sf, as advertised, but their true interiors were smaller.

On the smaller Fantasy class ships, all non-suite rooms are the same size indoors, but they fall short of the true 185sf that's advertised, although not quite as small as the 150sf interiors on the larger ships. Maybe 160-170, not enough room for sofas in any of them.

I agree with your evaluation of the Spirit class ships. Interior cabins are quite a bit smaller than balcony cabins. We have stayed in both.

  3. I'm hoping those of you more familiar with Carnival and its website can help me figure this one out:

When I booked my first cruise, Carnival's website had a pop up tell me that if I booked all of my excursions right now, I'd receive a discount. At that point I hadn't researched them at all, so I turned the offer down.

For the cruise I just booked, I researched in advance just in case I received the same offer, and lo and behold it came up again. The 20% discount is pretty significant considering how much everyone will fight and call just to get small reductions in cruise fare.

However, I've never seen anyone mention this on this site. Did I just get lucky to receive this offer twice? Or is this one of those things that everyone already knows when booking and I'm just behind?

I have never received a discount offer. We always book early saver and usually the excursions aren't listed at the time of our early booking.

I would definitely take advantage of it if I did get lucky enough to receive the offer.
