  1. On my last cruise we had a very chatty roll call. We got to know each other very well. Some of us even got together the night before the cruise for dinner. We also arranged an informal get together at sail away and then for the official meet and mingle we got invitations delivered to our room where it will be held. It usually lasts about an hour. We've made some nice friendships on the Roll Call board and hung out with the people in the evenings for shows and such.

  2. Maho Beach is the best! Your kids would love it. It's not the type of beach to lay down and relax but watching all the planes coming in and taking off so close to you is such fun to watch. There is a bar and grill on the beach where you can seat yourself, have lunch and and watch the planes. Give yourself plenty of time to get back because I hear there's lots of traffic with the bridge opening. We headed back by 2:00 before the bridge opens and was back on the ship by 2:30. We got a bus in town for $2.00 per person each way and got dropped off right at the beach. We returned by bus also.

  3. All the beaches are free, food is free and drink service is readily available. We stayed on Nellie's Beach and there was sand under our feet in the water. No rocks. There are about 5 different beaches you can go to. A shuttle will take you to which beach you want to go to. Go on Ports of Call on cruise critic and click on Caribbean and then click on Private Islands. Go to Labadee and it will tell you what each beach on the island has to offer.

  4. I will never plan a cruise in February again. One year (Presidents Week) New York had a major snowstorm. All 3 area airports were closed for 3 days. We had to stay in a hotel for Miami until the airports reopened. Thank goodness we had trip insurance which covered all our expenses.

February is the snowiest month and we always have a snowstorm around Presidents week.

  5. About Maho Beach, we walked into town after we got off the ship (or you can take the water taxi) and we walked to Back Street which is two blocks over where all the jewelry shops are and there's a van that makes stops along the way (it has a sign that says Maho Beach) on its dashboard. They consider it a bus but its really a van. It cost us $2.00 per person. It makes a few stops along the way picking up townspeople going to work. We told the driver we wanted to get dropped off at Maho beach and it was the next to last stop. The drive took about 20 minutes. On the way back we walked to the stop where he let us off and we hopped into another van that said Phillipsburg and let us back off in town. It was all very simple and cheap. $4.00 round trip per person!

  6. GRRR! A little off topic. I have a trip planned to Vegas for August. When I went on the Delta site this morning to check prices for airfare, the airfare was $50.00 roundtrip! I called Delta to ask if this was a typographical error and she said no, that was the price. So I went back online to book 4 tickets (for me, my boyfriend Charlie, my son and his girlfriend). It asked for each passengers birthdate. I did not know my son's girlfriend's birthdate so I texted him at work and he was in a meeting. So I finally texted his girlfriend and she told me her birthdate and when I typed it in and pressed purchase, it jumped up to $367 a person! I was so mad. I just heard on the news that it was a glitch. Well I caught that glitch but I lost it. Oh well

  7. We always fly in a day before

We head straight up to the Windjammer

We always get on the ship early so we can take pictures and explore before the crowds come

We go to the dining room to see where our table will be located.

By then its time to go to our cabin and we can unpack our luggage and read the first night's activities.
