Outstanding idea.  The problem is that, with the amount of drink packages/drink coupons, it would cost a lot and they may not generate any more revenue.  Not a good equation for the accountants that seem to be running Royal these days.  No if they can change it to something that they can charge for...

I may be (probably) wrong but I thought that one could not use a drink package or coupons at the bionic bar, and drinks are always charged to the sea pass? I have never tried that bar, so don't know for sure. Anyone?

    We booked it!
I needed a nine day trip in addition to our seven day booked in Feb 2025 to make diamond.
I loved the itinerary and just needed reassurance that I wouldn't be horribly disappointed with the Serenade.

Tom and I are booked on the Serenade for February 14, 2025 for the 9 night, same one? We'll be getting off of the Utopia (out of PC) on February 14th, and driving on over to Tampa to board the Serenade. If you're interested in joining the roll call, here it is:

Glad to see & hear that you guys are having a great time.

Question.... Is it me, or did anyone else notice in the Schooner Bar video, (actually, I believe it was in the Pub), that between the 0:08 & 0:15 second mark, that even though the musicians hand was off the guitar, the chords for the song were still playing?🤔🤔

Had to go back to look again and, by golly, you're right! At least his voice isn't recorded.😉

  4. We'll be on Radiance this September/October for a Panama Canal cruise from Vancouver to LA, then LA to Tampa. Someone told me that the carpets smelled bad, so, hopefully, maybe carpets, some furniture and bedding will be replaced!

Not disagreeing with your post, but breakfast at Johnny Rockets is way down on my list. I am currently on Symphony and we have no plans to go to Johnny Rockets this cruise. I usually go to JR on Freedom class ships, but there are too many other options that are better in my opinion on Oasis class ships.

Yes, I agree about other options for the meals other than breakfast. Unless you're in a full suite, have the UDP, or on a sea day, the only included breakfast option is the WJ. Since I have a scooter, we avoid the WJ due to the crowds, so the included breakfast at JR on Oasis class ships is perfect for us!

  6. I can't believe some of you didn't mention one of the most important things! Breakfast is included in your cruise fare everyday at Johnny Rockets!! Even their delicious milkshakes! And their OJ is far better than the WJ and tastes really close to fresh squeezed! We always eat breakfast at JR on Oasis class ships! That's probably why I'm a fluffy gal!! LOL! Enjoy! Cheers!

So we've never gone to the lounge during happy hour on Royal (we've been doing Celebrity and MSC lately).  Not even sure we knew this existed and we were just happy to have our drinks wherever and whenever.   So, since our drinks are loaded on our sea pass cards, is there a reason to go to their HH in the Crown lounge?  (didn't it used to be called Viking lounge?)   🙂  Please enlighten me.   Haven't sailed on Royal since 2022 so I seem out of touch!

No, the Viking lounge is for all cruisers, regardless of status, unless it's blocked for a private function. The now "Crown" lounge used to be the "Diamond" lounge, which is a closed off area in the Viking lounge, as well as another closed area, which is the "Suite" lounge. On Adventure of the Seas, the Viking lounge has been renamed the "Blue Moon" lounge. Confusing for out-of-touch cruisers! Hope that helps!

We went to the ice skating shows twice.   The 1st time a crew member caught us as we exited the elevator and directed us to the rink by going down the running track.

The second time a crew member directed us through play makers to the elevator.   DW was able to join me in the elevator.

Sharon sat with me both times in a handicap chair while I stayed in the wheelchair.

I was surprised how accessible things were.  Not everything was perfect but beat my expectations after watching videos beforehand.

When we were on Odyssey, we were told by a staffer that there was no elevator up to Playmakers, just the long stair case. I was in a scooter. So, I later had someone tell me that there was a small freight elevator at the back of the ice rink, which is how I was then able to get up to Playmakers. It sounds like the Icon has a similar layout. There was also no restrooms on the Playmakers deck; you had to go back down to the ice rink to use a restroom. Is there a restroom on the same deck as Playmakers on the new Icon? I certainly hope so!! A sports bar with no nearby restroom? Ridiculous design on Odyssey!

  9. Ditto what @doghog said! A pool bartender (very busy) handed me a man's sea pass. Since I always check the name, I noticed the mistake right away. However, he had already given mine to the man, whose sea pass I had and he left the bar! I decided to wait there at the bar to see if he would return. Yep, turns out, he went back to his cabin and couldn't get in!! LOL! Cards were returned to each owner safely. Always check your sea pass when it's returned to you!!

  10. I've seen water jugs available for you to refill your cup at the WJ buffet, as well as the pool bars, but be sure to use a clean cup when getting it from the jug, then pour it into your personal container, for sanitary reasons. Also, some bartenders will refill your water cup for you if not too busy. Others have said that they have been able to carry a duffle bag with a case of water on board, citing medical necessity to take medication, if asked. I usually buy the refreshment package, which entitles you to all beverages without the alcohol, as I enjoy specialty coffees, smoothies, juices and mocktails! Good luck and happy cruising!

  11. The elevator system sounds great but wondering if it is still great for someone in a wheelchair or using a scooter? Is there enough time to grab the elevator that opens if you're several feet away from it? Wondering how fast those elevator doors close if you're not right in front of it. TIA

Luckily, my DH usually runs interference for me! LOL!
