  1. We loved theScrew Spa. I found it online and got a bunch of cruise critic members to go with us on our cruise. One of the best excursions we all had.

How did you end up getting there? Transportation was the biggest issue we had. We searched high and low and ended up having the Son of Screw pick us up at the cruise terminal. We tried to figure out the taxi situation and everything else but just couldn't make head's or tails of it all.

  2. Hard ice cream is also available at the buffet for free, they will scoop as much as you want into a cone or cup. Every other restaurant will also give free hard ice cream as well if you ask in a glass serving cup.

The only ice cream you need to pay for is Dolce for Gelatto or the fancy stuff at O Sheehan's, but all of that is very easy to never even notice or buy.

  3. One note about travel insurance, some health care providers include international travel so it's worth checking with what you have before going.

It's rare and I am very fortunate to be covered globally with my version of BCBS, but fills should check first before buying additional coverage.

But back to this story, what insurance did you get, because if they reimbursed you without issues then that's a good vote for them for the future.

  4. If we are sailing on 1/29 and have booked 9 months in advance, do we get the old system or the new system, and then when we get off we will be old style gold but new style silver, so what are we considered?

(27 points now, 14 night cruise, 28 points as we booked 11 months early, leaving 1/29 under old system, final docking will be under new system)

  5. Getting off aft is best - be ready to go before they announce walk off in the morning. On our last cruise in Oct it took us 20 minutes from leaving our room to getting in our car on the pier. Didn't even wait thru customs.

Were you down in line at 6am?

Sounds like we need to be on deck 7 before dawn on order to get a chance to get off the ship.

  6. Thank you for the explanation.

    The news websites have this:

After undergoing a 60-day beta test and receiving positive feedback from a group of elite travel agents, the Norwegian Upgrade Advantage program is set to launch Feb. 8.

So sadly the old upgrade process wont be around for your cruise, I guess you'll be finding out more soon enough.

I wonder how high the upgrade prices will rise to now that everyone is getting involved and not just the folks who put in the effort to make a phone call.

  7. The only other thing to mention is that they are a pain if you don’t have the kids key card at drop off or pickup – I don’t remember this being an issue on Disney, but after the 2nd day we learned to have the keys organized.

As a parent of a small one I find this to be a huge plus on how the Splash Academy works. They wont budge and release your child unless you follow proper protocol, and that makes me feel much more secure about leaving him alone for hours at a time.

  8. The pool deck is usually littered with towels that are unused. It's hard to believe but there is this towel fairy who will wake up before dawn, fly to the pool deck, and cover the chairs with towels, and then never return. The towels aren't used by anyone and are free for the taking, its quite a mysterious and beautiful thing that happens each and every day.

In a pinch you could always grab one of those and exchange it for a fresh one at the towel station and be on your way with a nice extra towel.
