I think you were misinformed.  I've been cruising Royal for YEARS and you don't need to make reservations to go to the Schooner Bar.

The reason there was no room to seat you is because you didn't show up early enough.  Schooner Bar gets packed easily, especially later in the day.

Nope, onOasis class ships Royal sells seating all through the promenade including Schooner bar and rising tide (even seating in the photo gallery)

I had a King Ranch quarter horse in my tweens.  Man, that mare was a beauty!  King Ranch forever!  And then King Ranch casserole.  Mmm mmm.

    Oh that casserole

I thinks its more of the minority shouting the loudest and the mainstream media.

I personally think you and we should embrace our culture, values and patriotism. 👍 Keep those flags flying.

    AMEN!

As a brit i love the patriotism that americans have and you should fly your flag, state or country with pride. 👍

Thank you for this.  It seems more and more in the current social climate, our patriotism and pride is viewed as unwanted nationalism by our brothers and sisters across the Atlantic.

I appreciate your recognition that it is, pure and simple, pride; with no nefarious overtones.

    Cheers!

I get that it's a Texas thing, I ask why it's a Royal thing. Is it a contractual obligation demanded by the port?  🙂

Good question; beats me. I wonder if Carnival ships do it when sailing out of Galveston?

Maybe it’s simply catering to one’s customer base here.

    Hi:

I was wondering if anyone had any experience with this situation. In 2019 when we cruised with Royal I could simply select cash account and continue with the check in process. As i understand it now i need to enter a CC number otherwise i'll have to check in at the pier. I did see on the Royal FAQ section though it says you can enter a CC during check in and the switch to a cash account either in the app or online, thus eliminating the need to go to guest services once on board. Has anyone done this? How does it work and where in the app do you do the switch? Do you need to wait a certain amount of time or can you go back immediately after getting a boarding pass and switch it out? I just would like to avoid having to wait in line at the pier or onboard to change over to cash. Thanks for any advice!

I do cash account all the time. When you get to the pier, whomever checks you in (one of the roaming workers with the I-Pads), just tell them to remove your card and that’s the end of it.

I don't know much about it. But I have read on here that you cannot use a Visa gift card to set up your account. Because it doesn't have your name on it. What was stated, was that you could use it settle your onboard charges at the end of the cruise at guest services.

I have no idea if that is true, or if it has changed since the post was written.

    This is accurate, well said

You can pre-order the night before?  I haven't read that anywhere.  I guess it will show up on the app when I am onboard.  Thank you for a very helpful tip!

You can’t order the night before.

If you want a wine pairing with each course you will be better off skipping the MDR. I. My experience it can take anywhere from 10-30 minutes for a drink to be served.

Am I the only one that finds this odd that with everything that is going on  and the decisions that have been made , that Royal is making middle of the night stops with thousands of passengers aboard .... (Assuming this is actually true) .Especially in light of all the talk about Travel insurance policies possibly even becoming invalid due to this ... Seems Risky

    ??

One's travel insurance fine print is of no concern to Royal; but i highly doubt this type of stop would invalidate anything
