  1. Gabriel and Raymond were our first Alchemy bartenders. Since then we have had 3 or 4 sets on various ships. I will say they were prob my fav. Raymond would get so annoyed at Gabriel for flirting and talking constantly. It was quite the pairing:') When we were on Conquest we had 3 girls and they were also very good. Last cruise was Glory and the head bartender was Richard. He was alittle hard to break (serious) at first but as the week went on he warmed up. I just love going to Alchemy before dinner and getting a speciality martini (my fav is a tart raspberry martini, which they all have totally nailed). Then they bring out these little dishes of cheese, nuts and olives! Awesome!

Also, on Glory was the only time as soon as we sat down Richard would pour a glass of ice water with cucumber slices in it for everyone. It was SO refreshing and it's nice to drink water when your drinking a lot of alcohol.

  2. Great...thanks for all these good answers. I'm going to keep track on my phone. I too think we will not break even but my hubby wants to try. Could go either way......love the idea of trying new drinks on occasion vs my husband getting too drunk because he wants to prove that it's the better deal:rolleyes: Of course we both always upgrade to Grey Goose at Alchemy so we will see!

  3. So I bit the bullet and signed up for Cheers on my upcoming Sunshine Cruise. I did it for several reasons.....it is not a port heavy cruise so we will be on the ship more than usual......my husband and I always wondered if it would be worth it and will we drink that much more? The fact that they fine tuned it to include soda and speciality (good) coffee swayed us.

My question is I want to keep track and verify if it was worth $919.08 for an 8 day cruise. When you get your print out at the end of the cruise does it have every time you used your S&S card? Does it have 0.00 beside the drinks? Or do I need to keep track myself (which would be a pain).

    Thanks.

  4. Sorry, I know this has been asked before but I keep finding conflicting answers?!

We are leaving on Sunshine May 5th for an 8 night.

I know the first formal will be 2nd night at sea (Sunday) but then we are at sea Monday, Aruba on Tuesday, Bonaire on Wednesday (BTW first time at this port), Thursday at sea, Friday at GT and Saturday at sea. Will the second formal night be Thursday or Friday after GT.

I know it won't be Saturday cause we get back Sunday morning.

    Thanks!

  5. Sounds like you do not want to go on Sunshine:o Which would be awesome since everyone says it's so crowded..........and we leave May 5th on Sunshine, so if everyone doesn't go if they think it's crowded we will have a great time...LOL!

Was on Destiny and didn't mind but Sunshine added more decks so hopefully not too much of a cluster!

  6. So I consider myself a fairly seasoned cruiser....going on #20 this year. My DH and I have tried all 3 dining options. We have def decided early just doesn't work. Late is OK depending on port times. I really like getting to know my wait staff but the last 2 times when we had late seating we just had "eh" waiters. Not bad, just not as fun as some. So, we are going back to YTD for our 2 cruises this year.

We are going on Sunshine in May and I have read that you check in on Deck 5 near Alchemy, not a problem at all!! I honestly would not care if we had to wait an hour to eat(we just have a pre-dinner drink at Alchemy) if I can request a table location. Our usual table request for 2 are too funny. We basically are having dinner with another couple since the tables are 2 inches apart! I would LOVE to sit in a booth (they don't love giving a booth to 2 people, would rather have 4) or better yet a table for 2 right by the window. Am I being too picky or can I request that....knowing I will need to wait and being ok with that.

  7. 8. People would fill their tervis cups up at the ice/waterstation. Instead of moving to the side, they have to mess with trying to get the lid on right there in the way. Move over dummy!!!

LOL....I love your list of observations........especially #8. You said what many of us think but don't have the nerve to say:')........me and husband will be cruising Sunshine first week of May. We also got a scenic OV room. Had one last cruise and LOVED it! This is our 10th year cruising and our 20th anniver. I'm sure it will be awesome just like every other Carnival cruise was.

    Thanks for the candid review.

  8. Rolls Royce is def the coffee bar. I for the life of me can not remember the name of the sweet girl that made our drinks every morning. I'm thinking it was Tutti? She had the funniest laugh. I got an Americano every morning and by the second day she knew:)

She wasn't the fastest but oh so sweet and really what did I need to do besides lay out and enjoy the weather:hearteyes:

  9. Thank you for your honest Sunshine review. I too took my girls (I only have 2 children, both girls.......god bless you! WOW), on Ecstasy out of Charleston in September of last year. We had SO MUCH FUN!!! They are 27 and 33 and we were all 3 in a small interior but we laughed and had an awesome time!

I loved your Karaoke thoughts...SO TRUE! Why do the same people sing over and over again. Too funny!

My husband and I will be on Sunshine in May and I'm looking forward to it. We were on when she was Destiny a few years back.

We have a great time on every cruise we go on and I'm sure this will be no different!

  10. Its a constant battle. Sigh! I lose 15 lbs for the cruise and gain it back....I lose 10 lbs for the next cruise and gain it back!

I was trying WW again but not seeing results as fast as I would like. Next cruise is May 6.....I just bought a box of NutriSystem . It's all the food in one box for 7 days. The last time I did it I lost 6 lbs in a week, but the food is not that great...just OK.

I really want to be down 12-15 lbs by May. It's like another poster said...it's amazing what 10lbs will do as far as your clothes fitting better.

  11. We used to go to Governor's Beach every time we were in GT. We would walk past Jacks Shack and turn right, walk behind the building to the road. It is not very nice and the road is kinda narrow. Just a short walk to Governor's Beach on the left. You can't get from Jack's to Governor's Beach by walking along the sand....if you could it would be super close.

All that said, the last time we were at GT we walked down and it was completely closed up. You can still sit on the sand but no rest rooms or snack bar. We were standing on the beach deciding what to do and 4 local men came walking on the beach. I'm sure they were fine but it made me VERY uncomfortable so I told hubby I wanted to leave. They kinda walked with us for alittle?! It was very creepy. I will not go back unless they have the facilities reopened.

The beach is AMAZING, it's a shame they don't reopen.

  12. Doesn't sound like you had the best Ecstasy cruise so far! WE LOVE ECSTASY! She was one of our first cruises and I just cruised with my daughters for the

5th time in September. My husband and I have cruised as big as Breeze and NCL Breakaway and I'll still take Ecstasy anyday. We had a wonderful cruise out of Charleston in September and out of the 20+ cruises I have been on with Carnival the other passengers on this ship were hands down the nicest people I ever cruised with! Yeah, Charleston! Yeah, the south:)

    Hope it got better!

I told hubby after Vista in November we are booking Ecstasy next spring now they she has Alchemy:D
