  1. I didnt cruise last year... I know... i know...i was nuts... anyway, just got back in gear to plan this years cruise and i come back to a lot of changes it seems.

    1. I dont mind the new pay after 10 room service menu but was wondering if the deli will be open any later? do i remember correctly that it normally closes at 11pm?

The reason im asking is that i have 2 older kids who are very athletic and always starving. And not so much into the pizza more than one or two times a cruise. They have a tradition of having an early dinner and everyone meet back at the room for some room service sandwiches before bed. We are all night owls and are starved by 1 am, esp when eating dinner at 6. Was thinking how nice it would be if there was some other option other than that dreadful pizza or paying for a menu of mostly fried foods. Not trying to be cheap, but i would much rather spend my money in casino or excursions or shopping than on food.

    2. Is the new Deli menu on the Miracle? Will it be added to all the ships?

    3. I see that there is a new express breakfast that looks delish! But do they still have the seaday brunch? I sure hope so :confused::confused:

  2. Can you answer a few questions for me about the Miracle?

    1. Did they have the American Table menus in the dining room?

    2. Did you notice where the self laundry rooms were? i like to be somewhat close. Lots of kids, do some laundry midcruise.

    3. Do you know if they had chicken strips at the outside grill ? Ive got a picky one ...

  3. Im actually glad to hear this. I hope they dont go the the AT before our cruise next summer. I just found there to be so many more options. And not to complain because im not a foodie, nor do i feel that waste is a good thing. But tbh the last 2 cruises we skipped the MDR almost half of each cruise because it just wasnt worth going and sitting that long waiting for the AM food. The old menus though... time didnt matter as much when you love what your eating.

  4. Pride July 10-17th.

Embarkation:No issues. Went smoothly with FTTF. Was dropped off in the front by hotel shuttle. Tipped baggage handlers, checked in and waited in the VIP/Faster to the fun room. Was onboard around 12:30, had a guys burger= delicious, and unpacked.

    Room:

Had room # 5234. It is an obstructed balcony room, but it was great for us. Its true what they say about the room being a bit warmer than say an interior or OV room. I think its the fanning of the doors. Was comfortable temp most of the time.

    Staff:

WONDERFUL! The Pride has some of the most friendly staff I have encountered on a ship. No complaints!

    FTTF:

    WORTH IT!

Embarkation was better, we were on first tender to HMC along with the staff, Debarkation was easy. Waited in butterflies lounge after a nice breakfast and it was pretty painless. Loved the designated Guest services number we could call! The only thing that was a little disappointing Is that our luggage was not in room, and in fact it came in pieces throughout the day. The last of the bags arrived around 5 pm. No idea what happened there as they were properly labeled.

    Brunch:

OMG.. I have no idea what went wrong here. We went twice and both times the food was not even close to being good. How do you mess up omelets and mac n cheese. The mac n cheese was really just half cooked noodles with milk and some cheese sprinkled on top. Very disappointed because I have been on 5 cruises and the mac n cheese is usually out of this world creamy and cheesey and heavenly. Nope. Not this time. Omelets dry, pancakes overcooked. Very strange.

    Main Dining Room:

We had ATD and went to the dining room 3 times. !st time we got a pager and only waited faor about 20 minutes. No big deal. 2nd night we were first in line. Were seated immediately, but then were in the dining room for 2 1/2 hours. Im not even kidding! I have no idea what happened as everyone around us were being served. We missed the show we wanted to see and an event we wanted to attend so we decided that we would try to come later the next time. The next time we came around 9 pm and had no issues with service. The food was just okay all three times we went. We left full and the entrees we ordered were not horrible, but not up to par with what I typically have experienced on a cruise. The American Table Menu is nothing to brag about. The options are sooo limited. I was just not impressed with this new menu in the least. I am sad that this will be the norm on all the ships soon, if not already. Sad, sad, sad.

    Other dining options

Blue Iguana was amazing!!! I wish so much that it was open past 2:30. The Guy's Burger Joint was also really good. But it closes at 6 pm. Did not try David's or the Sushi place.

Buffet: Breakfast was fine, lunch was okay but the diner buffet was just ridiculous. It opens at 6 pm- same time guys closes so many nights we would rush up, read the signs of what was going to be served and make a madd dash to Guys. Now some people might love that buffet, but it was only about 4 or 5 choices and most the things served didn't go together. There was always a baked potatoe, but that was usually the only veggie. We were hoping for some mashed potatoes, corn, green beans, broccoli, mac n cheese..... SOMETHING!

    Entertainment:

FANTASTIC! Schwartz is awesome!! we went to trivia, dance classes, shows, comedy shows, had 3 deck party. One was an 80's rock and glow concert. We watched movies on lido and played bingo also. Very very fun. This ship was not lacking the Entertainment that many cruises I have been on have been lacking.

    Ports

Freeport is just Freeport. We parasailed. As long as you have something planned its fine. Grand Turk was amazing. and Half Moon Cay speaks for itself! No complaints whatsoever on ports.

  5. Im sailing the Pride on Sunday, July 10th. Yay! .. anyway.

I have FTTF, but also received the e-mail to choose a check in window time slot online.

It does say in the email that we are welcome to come anytime we would like if we have the FTTF.

    Im wondering this:

What time would be most beneficial as far as less wait time?

Sure, I can go at 11:00, but what time do they board? It says on the paper that boarding will begin at 1:30- is this correct?

I don't see why I would want to check in at 11 and sit there for 2 1/2 hours???

    Any advice appreciated.

I really do want to get on as early as possible too though.....

  6. I have been on the carnival:

    fantasy

    fascination

    Legend

    Dream.

The fantasy class ships are very laid back and you really get that "cruising" kind of feeling, but they are basic by today's standards. We tried the Dream and felt overwhelmed with the sheer size of the ship, lack of chairs at the pool, lines for EVERYTHING... and even had trouble ordering room service the 3 times we attempted. IMO... the spirit class is the way to go. (There are other classes I have not tried yet though).

We are going on the Pride in 4 weeks. We chose this ship because out of all the ships we have been on, we like the layout of the Legend the best (sister to the pride). The adult entertainment we felt was a little lacking on the legend, but the kids LOVED the green thunder slide, the basketball court (never overly crowded), the put put course and now on the pride there will be the option of the outdoor dive in movie screen.

Ill let you know how our cruise goes in July.

I think you should give this ship a try!!!!

  7. Okay, before complaining...

I realize there must be lots of questions about this and I DID search the bar at the top. All the threads I found were from 2013 to 2015... so...

Whats a good time with FTTF to arrive in Baltimore? I want to avoid really long lines getting into the port but don't want to go so early that we check in and just sit there for hours either.

Help if you know the answer and are kind.

  8. I redeemed some fun points from my carnival world master card a few weeks ago. On the rewards center page it says the transaction is complete but it does not appear on my carnival billing page under manage my cruise.

Will it not show up on my billing page????

How do I know I will have this once onboard?

  9. Nope, we're not fans of the "mega" ships. You can't possibly have the same service on a larger, 4,000+ passenger ship, as you would on say, one of the Carnival Spirit-class ships (my favorite Carnival ships). Today, at least on many of the mainstream cruise lines, it's a matter of supply and demand. It's more of catering to the entire family. The more bodies you can fit on the ship, the better. To meet the demands of the cruisers today, the ships include attractions like Rock-climbing walls, Ice Skating, Bowling, Bumping cars, etc., so the more venues, and money-making fun things that people are willing to pay for, the more the ships will continue to be built larger and larger in size. We like to sail on ships that look like ships, not like amusement parks or shopping malls.

The new ships are here to stay I'm afraid, and we're having a hard time picking future cruises. We know eventually we'll probably have to try a new "mega" ship, but I just hope they throw a few smaller ships in every so often. I miss the days where we could sail into smaller ports. I miss looking over our balcony onto Front Street while in Bermuda.

We're still holding on to the "old days" of cruising on smaller ships, and sadly those days are quickly diminishing. Going forward, if Mega ships are all we have to choose from, I guess we'll make the best of it.

I agree! I can take my kids rock wall climbing in the city and bumper cars and all those things as well. I like to "feel" like im someplace special, and to me I guess that is being closer to the ocean and not so many fancy frills. BUT I understand that lots and lots of people love this type ship.

  10. I like the Fantasy Class, but they are VERY dated.

The Conquest class ships are not too bad, but it always seems like you are waiting in a line - esp. on the Lido deck, in buffet lines, while tendering and getting off in ports.

The worst ship is the Sunshine - never again!

The Spirit are our favorite. We will even pay a little more if need be. It is so sad that Tampa no longer has one and some of them have disappeared. Here is an idea for Carnival, send the Sunshine to Australia or China and bring one of the Spirit class ships back here.

    What you said.

  11. Am I alone in feeling that the smaller to midsize ships (i.e. spirit class) are better as far as less congestion? and I really PREFER these smaller ships.

Every time Carnival makes another larger ship I feel like....

    1. Im sad because im afraid the smaller/midsize ships are going to disappear

    2. im secretly happy because somewhere in the back of my mind (the imaginative part) im hoping that everyone will swarm to the larger ships and the cost for cruising on the small/midsize ships will drop.

Am I a freak of nature?

  12. Okay. So I recently have gotten a carnival mastercard through Barclay. I am cruiseing in July and am weighing my options on how to use my fun points. I notice that I can get a 100.00 bar credit for 10,000 points or 100.00 onboard credit for 12,500 points??? why is there such a difference?

    I currently have 24,000 points.

What should I do with them????

    any tips would be appreciated.

I thought about going online and using my carnival card to buy gift cards since my cruise is paid for now and using the gift cards onboard? am I thinking in the right terms? or is that just useless hassle?
