  1. I have sailed the fantasy, the fascination and the Legend. Didn't see a huge difference in the legend and the fantasy class other than it had an extra pool and basketball court, which was nice.

I hear that the dream is larger. Not sure how I will like it....

Any tips on what to expect from a larger ship?

is it REALLY that much bigger????

  2. Last 4th of July we were on the Legend. They had a huge deck party (lasted several hours) and a late night buffet with ice sculptures, bbq ribs, mac and cheese, fried chicken, steak and tons of other "American" type foods and deserts. They handed out beads, glow sticks, patriotic glasses and flags ect... They ended the party with someone singing the star spangled banner... it was AMAZING!!!! best part of entire cruise!!! We skipped dinner that night and pigged out.

  3. LOL..You do read of folks who survive..great discussion tips already..each person can have a small version of those shoe hangers..in the way of a jewlerly hanger that can be used for each souls stuff...like nail clippers, jewelry, pers care, pills, everything...that can hang by each persons hangables. Then evenly divide and designate shelf and drawer space. Maybe all shoes in the person's suitcase and under all beds. Each soul take a beach bag to take with hanger or hanging toiletry kit to gym showers with needed clothes..stagger getting ready times on ship days. Yes rest times in the cabin..even nap times if needed...people can chat anywhere..not rest. But there are the sleeping on the shipo lounger options in quiet places for naps. GET AWAY YOURSELF FOR ME TIME. You might take 2/4 of those larger shoe bags..perhaps one can go on each side of bathroom doors...

Dirty towels in one area..Personal wipes for hygeine when out of towels. Dirty clothes plan..in with shoes in a laundry bag...or one big bag and folks do clothes once or something..though I hate doinng laundry on trip you can on Carnival..others can chime in with particulars...

These rooms are set up for 5 and that is good..keeping it neat helps and all can help with that..make sane packing lists. But above all...you are not camping..remember this..just sleeping in a room together...and everything you need to eat and drink is elsewhere on the ship!! Maybe air freshener..and everyone having the hand wash stuff..that just helps not giving each other a cold...

You will have a wonderful time..memories forever..

    Get a massage for yourself...LOL...Sarah

what wonderful advice Sarah!!!! Thank you so very much!! I will take all of the above advice.
  4. Thanks for the replies...also...my sister booked with one other person across the hall in an upper lower....she packs light and said i could store some things, under her bed yada yada....

    Who has done this before??

    Who thinks i can survive?

My pvp assured me that although tight, these rooms are made for 5 people

  5. Yep...i am a lunatic. Booked a 7 day in a deluxe ov on the dream. It will be 4th of july weekend and it is not a cheap cruise. Kids have few shore excursions in mind and yada yada...i ended up with an extra teenager.

Have you ever done this? 2 adults, 2 teens, and a tween. At least we have an extra bathroom, right???

Any advice to make this,go smoother appreciated!!!

  6. I should have clarified. Yes I am gold level. Does anyone know if the kids are invited or not? kinda sounds like an adult event in which case my kids are older and wouldnt want to be there anyway and i certainly would not want to have them come if its not meant for kids. They will be Gold level as well.

  7. It sounds to me like, both ships can be crowded but dream is larger and so it doesn't "feel" as crowded????

This is my main concern with both ships to be honest. I would love to try the Italian restaurant and the guys place but dont want it to be miserable due to crowds.

I value all of your opinions and i am paying close attention to these responses.

Any further advice to help me decide would be great.

The dream itenerary are places ive been before and the sunshine all dif ports for me...aruba...curiaco....grand turk...

  8. I have never been to New Orleans!! I am going to be staying at a hotel in Metairie, LA which is about 15 min or so from downtown (or so i am told).

I want to see the famous french quarter, but also want to go to the famous Cafe Dumonde.. I just cant figure out what part of town it is in. I will have 4 kids with me, 2 are teens and 2 are 12 yrs. PLEASE SUGGEST A ROUTE FOR ME to take if you can.

    1. Where do I park?

    2. Which streetcar to take?

    Please help!

    Thanks.

  9. Last year i almost booked the dream but at last minute changed my mind due to reviews about the overcrowding. I went on the Legend and did enjoy, but when i saw the dream port side i felt a little twinge of regret.

So... I do want to try it, but tell me as honestly as you can how bad are the crowds? I am going the week of July 4th so I expect it to be busy, but how hard is it going to be to get a lounge chair by the pool... and how long will i be waiting for food in the buffet line?

I am also wondering if anytime dining would even be worth trying on this ship.

    Any tips or advice appreciated!
