Thoughts and prayers outbound. Can't even imagine.

Aw man, I thought those were kegs :(
-
Yup, curved glass doors.

Same deal on Princess. First night is "run what ya brung", and your husband will be just fine wearing what you described on non formal nights.
Have a wonderful cruise! :)

But the pizza on deck 14 is still fabulous!
Enjoy!
Bon appetit:)
This is true :)

We just watched you leave. Have a great cruise. I bet there will be a party going on tonight. :)
LOL! I bet you're right!

There is an option that you will only be upgraded to a higher type cabin. That is Inside to Ocean view or balcony to minisuite.
Ooh, that's what we needed. They upgraded us from aft Caribe to a same size cabin with a small balcony, but I guess it was a higher category since it was mid-ship. Can't remember all the details since this was many months ago. We could have just booked another Caribe if they had given ours away, but I picked ours specifically because it's the very last cabin that has the extra little corner space on the balcony.
Hey Princess, how 'bout a mini-suite? ;)
-
Did you mark "no upgrade" when you booked the cruise?
I did not. Didn't mark no upgrade until I called them after receiving the email informing us of our upgrade to the smaller balcony. Would be nice if they had a "No upgrade unless..." option. No upgrade unless you'd like to put us in a suite LOL :)

We sail and any one that stays on gets 50% credit on next cruise. Not such a good deal as before but acceptable I think
Princess changed their offer? I'm confused.
-
They "upgraded" us from aft Caribe deck to mid-ship Baja or whatever it was. We didn't want to be "upgraded" to a smaller balcony, of course, so I called and they put us back in the original cabin immediately. Don't understand why there would be any delay for something like this. You can ask them to mark your reservation "No upgrade". Did you check online to see if your original cabin is available?

We certainly feel bad for everyone affected by this, but we would not hesitate to visit our relatives in the Houston and Austin areas and then drive a little bit to catch a cruise. We've never sailed from Texas, but we'd give it a shot. Heck, I was born and raised in Houston. If things went bad, we'd just go stay with old friends :)

We will be cruising with you. Can't wait.
Same here...we can't wait either. Hope aft Caribe has decent mattresses.

Not working at all for me. Says "Invalid Booking".

As said above, if you keep the cabinet door open for ventilation they work well. Should work just fine for milk. You can even keep ice in them if you borrow one of the nice insulated wine bottle ice buckets from the dining room.

Is there anywhere that I can get a case of water close by to bring on the ship?
There's a Safeway and a Trader Joe's about four blocks from the pier.

Can. Not. Stop. Laughing!

I am a sucker for the fettuccini alfredo.
^^^This! The GF is looking forward to this more than anything...aside from the hot tubs.

I am trying to catch up on this story. I am sickened by the situation and at a loss for words.
That pretty much sums it up :(
edit:

Made for a long day at work yesterday! :p

Another vote for Bernard's - great way to spend the day!

Thanks for the update lukesgrammie!
How was the service in the MDR? That was our only complaint last time we were on Star. The staff seemed very rushed and appeared to be more concerned with joking around amongst themselves than serving dinner to their guests :o -
So all you Princess fans, please sell me on why I should choose Princess for our next cruise?
Last March my wife and I went on our first cruise together on Celebrity Silhouette for our 10th anniversary. We've talking about another late march sailing this year (yep, getting to be last minute!) for our anniversary. To be honest I loved our trip on Celebrity, but was checking out Princess and the itineraries seems a bit better and the rates a bit lower. Consensus seems to be that the 2 lines are equals.
I really dont know much about Princess, the ships or what makes them unique but Id love to learn. We like the more upscale atmosphere and more adults than children that we had on our last cruise. Cabins are important too, we need a couch as well as a decent veranda. Breakfast on the veranda every morning was incredible!
Happy anniversary!
Have you chosen a destination yet? Length of cruise? Keep in mind, considering your preferences, Spring Break takes place in March.

Do you need to bring your own laundry detergent to do laundry on the Grand?
I have been on some cruise ships where you use your own laundry detergent and others where the detergent is part of the washing cycle.
Thanks
You can either bring your own detergent/softener, or purchase it in the laundry room. They are not included. Some people bring quarters with them as well since the change machines aren't necessarily stocked 100% of the time, but you could always get some quarters from the casino in a pinch.

Cabo isn't really Mexico. It's great if you want to grab a Subway sandwich though :p
