  1. I would say 2 week is our minimum and we have done a 3 week [wife did not want to leave the ship to go home] . We talked about a 3 month world jaunt and thought a 30 day "work up" cruise to test ourselves but the coronavirus ended that probably forever. As for port/sea days ratio maybe 4 days [sea] max and a port every other day ... unlike a port every day . So i vote for a carib cruise that takes a total of 6 days to and from [sea days] and 21 days visiting 12 or so ports the 9 or so days i wont call sea days just idling around the islands [in shorts and tees lol] .

  2. port o day in woulda/coulda /shoulda abby norma cruise.........breakfast is 3 waffles with a thick coating of butter n syrup and of course plate o bacon ,sausage. Then off to the royal theater for our lickum stickem numbered/colored group sticker. 45 minute wait until we follow a girl with a pingpong numbered/colored paddle to a bus. A one hour bus ride ,going past oprahs house, then a safety briefing on how to escape the kraken excursion ...survivors then ride one hour back[passing oprahs old house] . Back on the ship its a dash up to 12/13 to broadway cafe double burger then book reading on deck chair

Today (Dec 22) is/was to be embarkation day in Brooklyn so at 10:30 you'd be cooling your heels to board or reboard.

yep...i forgot about seeing you in check-in with 5 cases of soda on your hand truck

  4. 10:30 have to kill some time because room service is doing their thing ssssssoooo off to the library then back to the room for a nap. Wife is half way through the daily programmer and putting the times in her phone for things to attend through out the day . My plan is to get a double cheese burger at noon ....far off plan is tea time and a plate of clotted cream on something or a chocolate "moose" hunt or both...then a nap

  5. instead of abby nornal i would right now at 7:37 am be on the qm2 ,in kings court putting my PLATES of breakfast on a table . It would be coffee ,OJ,scrambled cheese eggs [3 scoops],much BACON,sausage [not the british morning hot dawgs] ,hash browns ,toast/butter . It would be cold outside ...we would usually walk out of our cabin on deck 6 and go aft outside then to 7 but if too cold it was the stairs to 7. We would probably be off the carolinas coast having left red hook the 21 st heading for the carib xmass cruise but nnnnnnnnoooooo .........the coronavirus  has me watching south park, futurama and waiting/plotting to ambush my evil robot vacuum cleaner. Well its 8:10 if i close my eyes i can almost hear a voice ..........................................................................................."may i clear these dishes sir"

Amen. Mexico has become a very unsafe country with drug cartels in total charge of many parts of the country. And a government which cannot, or will not take them on.

We have done maybe 5 south and central american country excursions with cunard while on a cruise and we will in the future stay on the boat those days.........n dat aint bad . We keep going back to the xmass carib cruise and have no problem with those ports aside we ran out of excursions to go on. Sometimes staying on board while half or more get off has its bennies ....lunch is less crowded and dinner time they are staying in their cabin tired or sun burnt .

You are correct the port was Puerto Quetzal, the little "village" of shops and vendors where the QV was berthed  was called Puerto Azteca named I guess as one would name a shopping center.

i put the whole country on the do not return list

  8. We have done the x mass carib so many times that we really ran out of excursion picks [diamond 2 more cruises] but i am one of those people who cannot re-call a crew member from a past cruise ....and i am one of those ugly americans that tips in cash . Its Asian one year, african the next ,russian/polish back to asian. I just hope cunard trains and vets them as before ,their passenger service is one of the BIG things that bring us back [12 plus trips] . Although i do remember natasha was flirting with me .......i liked it

  9. There is a huge turn over of staff ,i can recall a cruise with strong asian crews, another european then back to asian, then african.  What the question should be is cunard still going to train the new staff like they always used to......that imho is what made the staff special ....the training and vetting

  10. If the op thinks cunard will be one of the first to open up cruising again i have a bridge to sell them. I would not buy cruise stock strictly in their name ,while i would not buy propane gas for the cutting torches i would get some prices .

Interesting to note that, according to the database I searched, "King James" was the registered trademark of a non-alcoholic fruit drink up to December of last year, when it was apparently abandoned. There is no evidence that LeBron James ever applied for trademark protection for that term, so if he was using that term for himself, he would have been in violation of trademark protection prior to December 2019.

Seems a bit over the top to claim proprietary use of a phrase that has been used to describe a particular translation of the Bible for several hundred years prior to his being born.

When it comes to over paid celebs make under educated statements, we in the US have the market cornered .

Perhaps the word you want is scruples. I would feel the same, though sometimes I feel they may be wasted on Cunard. 😀

Gadda love walking through check-in and seeing a hand-truck with 2 cases of coke or the poster that brought his own pasta but nothing NOTHING beat seeing a womans open purse at check-out with a cunard towel.......i whispered it to my wife and she said that is a 2 grand purse......aaaahhhh some cunarders

  13. whenever i hear the term "package" being offered i usually make sure my wallet is not missing..........missing like it was pickpocketed . In my wild and crazy single days i could not drink 70.00 in a day yet alone pay their 140.00 now days fee ....i/we would be dead of alcohol poisoning

  14. We had to tender for the excursion and it was our first time there so we didn't know where to look ......i wasn't too impressed by the country . Their creativity with buses and wheeled transportation was entertaining as was sub-urban roofing .

  15. We did an excursion to the canal from the qm2 and it was ok. We also did a transit fla. to la and i believe is was a 16 night cruise [QE] that included some ports in central and south america . To be honest we prefer our x mas carib. cruise, i doubt we would visit the s and c americas again ,the transit was....well after 2 locks ....yawn.....but as long as you are on board you cant help but enjoy a cunard ship and its offerings .

I would really like to see them extend the Caribbean cruises from 12 days to 16 days like they did for a few years.  Although sailing down the Hudson is a wonderful experience, which we have done many times on other cruise lines, Brooklyn is so much easier.

I think our very first cruise with cunard was the 16 night carib x mass .....at the end i really thought i was going to have to get help getting the wife off the ship .....it would not having taken much for me to change my address to the ship.
