  1. I should qualify the ''needs a revamp'' as it's many years since we had our one and only corner deck 4 cabin. If it's still the same, it needs lots of tlc.
  2. To be fair, you were in a corner deck 4 cabin where the bathroom most definitely needs a revamp. The upper decks are OK, especially the refurbished ones. We had no noise problems on deck 5 but 4 was, I agree, a bit noisy.
  3. Have a look at the menus [think you've asked about this before] and then you'll be ready to decide once the alternative schedules [3 consecutive nights each] are available. We have dined in Bamboo a few times and weren't aware you could book pre boarding. We've never had a problem booking onboard once we found out which evenings Bamboo, if diarised, was on.
  4. Having stayed in cabins 5 thro' 2, I think the open layout of the 5s and 6s pre refit were more appealing than the 3s. The only reason we moved mid ships was easy access to stairwell B for decks 11 and 12. I have been to a drinks do in a refitted mid aft cabin. I preferred the open roominess, pre '17 refit.
  5. No slip sliding for us on our summer Fjord trip. Go for it but beware, QG is very addictive. We started off with a 5. We're now on 2s and 1 s. 🤔
  6. It’s many many years since we were aft. Definitely Pre refit and I have no idea on comparative balcony widths but I don’t think the 4s had a refit and I so did not like the corner cabin bathroom layout. Shower curtain and integral loo would put me off a 4. Go for a 5 if you fancy a QG corner aft. Never had a 6 so can’t help you there.
  7. Give QV a try next time. Food - great Staff -great Experience - superb, as usual. 🙂
  8. Our very first Cunard cruise was a QV deck 5 corner aft cabin, to the Fjords eleven years ago. Fabulous, and the rest is history. Been a tad expensive over the years. met some wonderful people and we have never, ever regretted it. 🙂
  9. No idea what tethering is, but we bought one internet package on the first full day [saved us a few $$] and we both used it on our devices, but only one device could use it at a time. Worked for us,
  10. I'm sorry for the levity! My turn for a wrist slap! 😀
  11. A wonderful British sit-com [Keeping up Appearances] with a social climbing utter snob [Mrs Bucket -self pronounced as Bouquet] as the central character who to her utter chagrin has a b in l, Onslow, who has been described in programme blurb as a ''loveable slob''. No Onslows around, but Mrs Buckets? 😄
  12. I always see what folk are wearing, but I don't always notice.
  13. Sorry, my mark out of ten comment was confined to daytime. I too notice evening wear if it's a little wow'ish.
  14. Excellent. I hope you come back and tell us if you enjoyed the cruise on my very favourite ship. We are all entitled to our own opinions but when aspirational opinions are given as the way forward, then I'm afraid I have to stick my oar in and having well over 270 nights on QV, I think I have a little experience of the QV way of life. Lovely to dress for dinner but don't worry at all about day time wear. No one will be giving you marks out of ten!!🙂
  15. Well. to be fair, if I've been out in the sun, I do shower and change before lunch and also, a cup of tea in PG but the talked about liveried staff stuff affecting level of dress is outdated. old fashioned and completely out of touch with the reality of life onboard Cunard ships and quite frankly, gives the incorrect impression to those thinking of giving Cunard a try. The restaurant staff wear a uniform. Said uniform harks back to years gone by which is lovely as Cunard has tradition and it's rather nice to ''dress'' for dinner but in no way will any uniform dictate day time wear on a Cunard ship. Cunard are not out to emulate The Royal Yacht Britannia and one is most definitely not lunching with HRH. 🙂 That saying of course, those who wish to dress to a Royal Yacht standard are perfectly at liberty to do so but the reality is quite different.
  16. Ah, no slap needed. I'm so used to being in the wrong with some members, I take posts at face value. Derr!😃
  17. Come on, this is the Cunard board, Let's go posh with Cruise Critiquers 😀
  18. There is definitely a marked structural difference between a liner and a cruise ship but their main functions are the same. Vacations. There will be ''jeaners'' [my new favourite word 🙂] on both just as there will be Lakesregioners on both. My parents, avid world cruise Cunarders, would definitely have been Lakesregioners but equally, would have welcomed and accepted all manners of dress which lay within any given boundaries, without comment or question. Both sets are correct and neither are wrong. 🙂 I spent a wonderful Thanksgiving with friends in Boston years ago. What an occasion. Enjoy tomorrow 🍗 🥂 and that goes for all the American members of this lovely board.
  19. I can understand the colouring but no, it wasn't David Gower. Unfortunately! 🙁
  20. My claim to a totally inconsequential addition is, I have never had a bread roll on Cunard! However, my very slim husband makes up for it. Has to be plain white at lunchtime and cheesy for dinner. We were seated on one occasion with a celebrity guest speaker who managed two or three rolls before the first dinner course. Every day! My lips are sealed! 😄
  21. Of course they're not. Jeans was the initial catalyst and then the word ''slovenly'' was introduced. Your ''but'' is definitely true but only goes to compliment my comment.
  22. indiana123 M&S have some black sparkly/metallic joggers. Dress to impress girl!!!😀
