  1. And as the town is going to limit daily visitors to 5000, hopefully our Annie will be one of the biggest ships to visit. Love this area of the world. No need to go on tour if you don’t want to. Just drink in the scenery.
  2. Interestingly, our present port Isafjordur is building their cruise dock and will be ‘limiting' number of visitors to 5000 a day, which is up from present numbers. Area is outstandingly stark and beautiful. Hopefully, by recognising potential issues, the area will remain so.
  3. Not sure if it’s new, but we tendered last time too. This is far easier, obviously and only a couple of mins away from where the tenders docked. Good to see most passengers have thick parkas etc. It's one of those itineraries where you have to have contingency clothing for mild, even hot weather and flippin cold weather too. It’s the wind which has made the chill seem chillier. Not spoiling the cruise for us though. Being well looked after by lovely staff, eating ( far too much) wonderful food and on a great ( even if she is too big with occasional issues, one being she’s not Queen Victoria) ship, not a bad way of spending two weeks. 🙂
  4. Welcome to Isafjordur where it’s a balmy 8C with a 'shade' temp. of 1C according to AccuWeather. My thermals don’t seem too silly today! It’s a sweet place in the sunshine but I don’t think I’ll bother getting off for a stroll round as I pretty well 'did' the place in a couple of hours, and that included a long coffee stop, a few years ago.
  5. M&S bought the Jaeger brand a couple of years ago which is why it’s online and in store. Two of my long evening dresses are Gina Bacconi, bought online from M&S. My favourite, as I have said, is a Per Una, bought in a sale around six years ago, so not only was it reasonable to start with, at under £25, an absolute steal. As an aside, I don’t possess frumpy clothes. 🙂
  6. and who cares what the labels inside say. As my very wise mother used to say, no one has x-ray eyes which enables 'you' to see what the size the label in any article of clothing says and that goes for brand labels too.
  7. Considering M&S stock/ have stocked evening dresses up to £500 online, I think the days of ignoring their stock for Gala evenings, are dead and buried.
  8. Hard to tell but I would say no steps in the rear pool. Will go and actually look later on in the week. Too many folk in picture to take the rear pool at the moment, but this is the Pavilion pool and yes, there look to be steps.
  9. Just be sensible Mark. If it’s offered and you feel worse, take it. We have avoided Covid so far but my husband is also in the ‘vulnerable' catagory. Can't spend our lives in a bubble on a just in case basis though. Look after yourself. If there’s anything you need, send an email to Hattie with your cabin number and maybe she will send it on so we can help.
  10. Main pool is ladder entry I’m afraid. I'll look at the other pool later if no one has come back on that.
  11. Ilven's on leave. No, couldn’t be bothered. As Major Catastrophe's go, it was a drop in the ocean. Looking on the bright side, it saved the calories. 🙂 Here are today’s tours
  12. Over nighter. Here are the tours available yesterday.
  13. I knooooooow We are seriously considering our options for our future bookings with Cunard after this Major Catastrophe!🤨
  14. This was our balcony view first thing yesterday. As this is our fourth visit ( the first one being a five day stay years ago) we didn’t bother getting off the ship but went up to deck eleven to enjoy the beautiful weather. Didn’t last long. Flippin 'eck, the wind whips across the deck. Fortuitously, I brought a pair of M&S thermal leggings with me as they’re cozy pull ons to laze around in. Add a fleece jacket and cuddle up in the blankets and we got our fresh air fix. 👍
  15. I knew what you meant😀 I'll see if I can fit it in. Disappointing pud on the menu last night. Crème brûlée, my fav onboard but this one was a crème caramel only not enough caramel to make it a true version. l'll order it as a special and specify the ramekin version with a hard, crackly top. Hmm, QG, let down by a crème brûlée which wasn’t. Major catastrophe! 😃
  16. My tip too, and through experience. Pay no attention to waitlists. Check online each day and twice a day if it’s important enough to really want a cabin.
  17. If you have a localM&S, you can return online purchases with no problem. They stock some great brands now, many items of which are only available online. Celtic &Co sweaters are amazing and are now stocked online so I can try for size and easily return. I buy online, collect at my local store knowing I can return any I don’t want to keep.
  18. Well I obviously haven’t any decorum what so ever as my favourite long dress is M&S per Una. 👍😀 but then my mother often urged me 'to have a bit of decorum' as I climbed down from the latest tree swing, as a child I must add! 😀
  19. Come on folks, everyone knows 'The Grills' have water cannons placed at strategic points along the perimeters with instructions to please water bomb any and all interlopers who dare to poke their noses into areas where they don’t belong. Indeed, it’s an unofficial sport for those who don’t take up archery. There’s a chart in the lounge to chalk up hits. The best score so far over this last week is one hundred and eighty, although I have a feeling that might have been a darts score, 'mistakenly' added in the hopes of winning the much prized half bottle of Pol Acker. It’s quite easy to spot 'them'. 'Their' clothes are just not what we’re used to. I mean, who wears jeans on a Cunard ship, and M&S clothes, especially on a Gala night Ooops…that’s me! 🤣🤣
  20. I would have thought a bib de rigueur if drinking out of a saucer.
  21. This window table for four for example, is still there this July. I suggest you and your friends add a rider, if you haven’t already done so, to your booking requesting a window table.
  22. Beautiful today. Clouds and sunshine. The air temp. is chilly but the wind across deck eleven isn’t as strong as the last couple of days. Loads and loads of free loungers and chairs and constant bar and coffee service. All tickety-boo.
  23. If your tastes are low, then ours are too 😀
