  1. We had 2 drink charges within the first few hours after embarkation. My husband had had one drink, not two. It was too early in the cruise for us to have lost track of how many drinks were consumed!

Also, they were supposedly both Red Frog on tap, but had 2 different prices! Hmmm...

They removed the lower priced item, and it wasn't work the 35 cents or so to argue the point further.

  2. We've sailed 3 different ships each 3 times. Why? Price, port location, itinerary. But mostly proximity of port location to us.

It's kind of nice being on the same ship...feels like you are coming "home." You also have all the quirks figured out already and don't waste time wandering in the wrong direction.

Having said that, I also LOVE being on a new ship and exploring.

6 of one, 1/2 dozen of the other...

  3. Unlimited use of the Thalassotherapy pool, the various steam rooms, the saunas, the heated tile recliners.

We had a spa level cabin when we were on Magic, and the thalassotherapy pool really came in handy after a long day of walking around the various ports. If you book a spa level cabin, the pass is included in the price of the cabin for the first two passengers, and it's so worth the money!

Other than use of spa facilities, were there any other perks to the spa level cabins?

  4. #8 -- NCL (If I ever cruise NCL again, I will eat all meals in alternative restaurants; everything else sub-par)

Absolutely agree with this comment! We've cruised the Spirit three times and have totally given up on the MDR. The alternatives are delicious, though! Worth the upcharge when you know you'll enjoy the food.

Of the cruise lines we've sailed-

    #1 RCCL

    #2 Carnival

    #3 NCL

But, we will probably stick with Carnival at this point because of price. I was very disappointed, though, that they have taken Black Tiger Shrimp Cocktail off the every day appetizer choices!

  5. We've done both, and typically prefer MDR seating because of the relationship built with the waiters...they anticipate what you want. But, we did ATD with a group of 7 and found a table/waiter we really liked and requested that table every night after that and were able to get it.

On the next planned cruise we are going ATD because we don't want any "down time" between planned activities, getting ready for dinner, and waiting for the dinner time to roll around. This last cruise we spent a lot of time "waiting around" for dinner because we got ready to early. It would have been nicer to go to dinner as soon as we were dressed. Yes, we did go listen to music, have a drink, etc....but still felt like we were treading water.

  6. We've not done the Beach Break on Bannister Island, but this is the same beach you visit after doing snorkeling at the reef. It's fine when the main attraction is snorkeling, but I definitely wouldn't do this as only a beach break. I agree with an earlier poster about Roatan- beautiful beach. We also love going to Isla Pasion in Cozumel.
