  2. Where can I find release dates for upcoming 2020 cruises? Specifically Transatlantics and N. Europe.

Looking for destinations in Iceland, Scotland, Belgium; not the most common places, many of which we have already been to.

Not just me then. I’ve been trying to look for the Caribbean.

  3. I’ll disagree with the ‘dead at night’ comment. There are live bands and dancing, there is the Newlywed/Nearly Wed games, and lots to do. There will be Movies on the aft deck and enough that kept us quite busy along with the standard main shows. A non-smoking Casino! Great stuff if you are looking for Evening festives.

Thanks for clarifying. I’m worried that with the age I am that there won’t be enough for me, personally.

  4. Have a great cruise. You'll find the food and service a bit better of Celebrity, but the lines are similar. Royal is a bit more slanted towards families, and Celebrity is a bit more adult oriented and lower key. I think if you enjoy one, you'll have not problems with the other.

Thank you so much for your input. That has helped a lot. [emoji846]

  5. The "Connie" is our favorite ship and we have sailed her 4 times. Celebrity is our favorite cruise line but we also like Royal. I would choose the longer cruise as Bob posted if all things price wise are more or less equal. There is a large variety of ages on all cruises we have been on with Celebrity and with Royal so I really can't see that as an issue for you. Both lines have their good/better/best features. Food on Celebrity is far superior as is the cleanliness of their ships, in my opinion. Entertainment is superior on Royal. No matter your choice, have a wonderful cruise.

Thank you. I’ve heard that the food is better but the entertainment isn’t quite as good. I would prefer the 9 nights but just want to feel bored.

The only other thing is my parents get the all inclusive package but I don’t as I’m in an inside. My Mum doesn’t drink alcohol. The deal with RCI is means I would get all inclusive being in an inside.

  6. We did this itinerary a little over a year ago on the Constellation. You will love it, still one of our favorite vacations. The entertainment on Celebrity is there, just a little more low key than Royal. We are former Royal cruisers that have stepped up to Celebrity and have not looked back (although back on the Vision next year to experience sailing out of New Orleans). Admittedly we tend to enjoy entertaining ourselves with a book by the pool rather than being a "joiner" in all the activities. The dress on Celebrity is similar to Royal during the day, shorts and t-shirts. The evenings tend to be more "resort casual" most nights. From reading the boards it seems that dress on Royal has become much more casual i.e. shorts and t-shirts in the dining room. I don't think you will see that on Celebrity, but khakis and polos are fine.

As to Crown and Anchor vs. Captain's Club, you will be recognized at the Select level on Celebrity (middle tier). Call the Captain's club and have them assign you a number and they will assign the correct level. There have been some reports recently that this is now being done automatically between the 2 lines with the new "single sign in" procedure on the website, but I would still verify.

Thank you for your info. That has helped a lot. I’ve heard that the 2 lines are meant to be merging though when I did the internet chat with them they did say they are different and will be staying different.

  7. Shop around with some different TA’s. There is group space on several of those cruises where balconies are over $1000pp less than website pricing.

What date were you looking at.

I’m looking at the 8th June sailing from Venice with Rhapsody. We don’t get the greatest of perks that you do in the States so there isn’t much of a difference in price from the website.

  8. Hi Ned,

Just answered you over on the Celebrity board. The cabin choices make this a tough choice. I am a huge fan of aft balconies. You might want to read ship reviews to get a better idea of the condition of both ships. I will say that I enjoyed the Constellation when I sailed on her. I have not been to the Greek Isles, but I would take 9 days over 7 and the Dalmation Coast is beautiful. As I stated in my other reply, this was probably our favorite vacation.

Yes, just read that and thank you. Because I’ve sailed on the ‘bigger’ ships, I don’t want to feel that there isn’t much to do on Rhapsody though I don’t want to feel too young for Constellation, if that makes sense.

  9. I’m either looking at Celebrity Constellation 9 nights Italy and Dalmatian Coast or RCI Rhapsody 7 nights Greek Isles. Very similar in price. Aft balcony on Rhapsody to a forward balcony on Constellation. I know Constellation is a bigger ship to Rhapsody but really like RCI. Going with my Mum and Dad in their late 70’s where as I am 38 so do need something to occupy my mind.

I’m so torn, please help. [emoji846]

  10. I have found that the food on Celebrity is a step up from Royal Caribbean. Yes, there is a buffet which may be set up in stations depending on the ship. The choice of clothing should be similar. Celebrity does not have those belly flop contests and hairy chest contests. In a sense, more mature adult like. Entertainment is not strong at Celebrity. I expect that you will enjoy your cruise.

We have found that the entertainment is somewhat better on Royal Caribbean. You will note that the energy level on. the ship is not like you have been used to on RCCL. Probably due to the older cruisers on Celebrity.

Thank you for the info. I am travelling with my parents who are in their late 70’s but I’m 38 and will need something to keep me going.

  11. Hi Guys,

I’m looking to do a nine night cruise in May next year doing the the Italian and Dalmatian coast on the Constellation. I do normally sail with RCI and just wanted to know if they are similar.

Does the ship have a buffet like the Windjammer?

Is it a lot more formal or can we still wear shorts and t-shirts around the ship?

Is the entertainment similar (Quest, bellyflop competition, comedy)?

Is the connecting balcony rooms noisy (you can hear the room next door)?

I’m currently on Platinum with 40 points, how does it work with coming over to Celebrity?

Sorry for all the questions but thank you for helping. [emoji4]

  12. Worth stressing you can only bring alcohol on like this on first boarding (so for a med fly cruise) bringing on in Malta is fine. After that the official policy is same as RCCI in that they will take it from you when coming back on the ship and give it back at end of the cruise

Understood. With RCCI its only 2 bottles of wine per cabin so the gin is a much better deal for me.
