  1. Hello. We booked a cruise on the Sky for September. When I look at the website to see our summary, none of the perks that the agency gave us are listed. Is this the norm? Are the perks that Princess gives you the only ones that show up?

I have them listed on my emailed receipt from booking, but would really like to confirm that we will get everything promised to us, before we sail (and are on another continent). Any experience or issues with this that I should ask about or be aware of?

  2. I have sailed on Princess several times, but these questions never came up before. I searched for the answers, but no luck, so thank you for any help.

    1. We were given "free specialty restaurant dinner" with our booking and it shows up as 2 29.00 OBC on the princess website. Can we make our reservations precruise and use the credits and am I doing it wrong? It shows me a place to pay with credit card, but I'd like to use the OBC for that purpose.

    2. We booked the Best Price Ever package. When does that show up on the princess website and where would I find it just to make sure it was applied?

    3. On a 10 day or 15 day cruise, how do I know when the formal nights are for specialty restaurant reservations purposes of planning?

Thank you all for your advice.

  3. Has anyone ever tried to use an AARP gift card and it was refused? I just tried to make a payment on our future cruise with one and they told me it was used (before I even got it). Now, I am in a holding pattern waiting for them to "escalate" the matter. I paid 450.00 for the card and am frustrated that I can't use it. Any experience with this? Tips for how to handle this?

  4. Thanks, Carol. I thought so, too. I have already called investor relations...who else can I contact to get it?

She was not helpful or supportive and when I told her to please stop laughing at my request, she got really snippy. I was really calm and sweet and she just kept saying not to be "greedy" and "you already got a great rate". I did ask her about where is the line drawn? Who is to say what is a great rate? She said, we'll lose money on you and if we get audited...compliance...blah blah, lots of buzz words which I didn't understand. I finally just hung up.

  5. Hello. We are very frequent cruisers and have loved the CCL  credits for being stockholders. We were offered a casino rate for a cruise coming up in a few months. We were denied the 100.00 credit  because "we already got a great deal" and anyone with a "reduced rate" doesn't qualify.

Yes, we got a reduced rate, but still are spending over 1000.00 dollars, so certainly not a "free" cruise by any means.

I called corporate investor relations and was given the run around...first the "you already got a great deal" then something about compliance, then you sent it too early and it has to be less than 3 weeks due to needing the most current stock portfolio paperwork. So, which is it? Who doesn't sail at some sort of reduced rate is what I asked. Whether resident rate, senior citizen rate, special promo rate...probably very few sail at a not reduced rate, yet she quoted the corporate paperwork saying anyone on a "reduced rate" doesn't qualify. This is our 22nd cruise. We aren't new to this, but the first time refused. I'm frustrated because it seems like an arbitrary decision. Thoughts?

I received an email stating that the movies will be Mary Poppins and Aquaman on our cruise on the 18th aboard the Royal.

We are sailing together! Thanks for the info. I didn't get an email. I'm a bit of a planner and look forward to movies under the stars. Never saw either, so that looks wonderful.

  8. Absolutely, Princess is great. We are Platinum on both Princess and Carnival. Carnival has a great product for those that don't want "frat boy" experiences. For us, sailing in a spa room is a quiet, lovely way to travel. No frat boys there! You can also bring wine on Carnival ships.

When I was new at cruising...it was threads like this that were helpful as new cruisers don't know a lot of things, like that you can bring wine on board or ask for something from the kids' menu even if you are an adult.

We have not sailed Princess in a decade, so that was the intention of this thread, to remind me, and perhaps others of the "secrets or hacks" that we might have forgotten or never knew.

Certainly, no offense intended at all.

  9. Saw this on the Carnival board and thought it was brilliant! Does anyone have any creative ways of "legally" making things better or more interesting on board....

ie: The guava juice at breakfast is awesome.  We always take a larger container of it back to the cabin frig and mix with our alcohol for delicious cocktails.

  10. I feel like I have seen this discussed before, but can't seem to find the thread that explains it, so please forgive me for asking again. We have a combination of OBC from travel agency and shareholder credit. We'd like to use some as tips, but can some be used in the casino? If yes to the casino, how is this done?

Thanks so much. On the Royal in two weeks!
