  1. If the bonnet is the only thing in contact with the helmet, then it's just the bonnet that needs to be clean. Or at least that's my guess. Way easier to have hundreds of those then helmets.

    Exactly

  2. From his photos, the food looks amazing. Some people just like to complain

Amen to that. I hate being around people that are constantly looking for something to complain about. I find that positive things happen to positive people and vice versa.

  3. CCL has totally lost me. I too, use to get BB offers and premier cruise offers. I gambled way more than I usually do on my last CCL cruise two years ago and did not receive any offers that are worth talking about. I switched to NCL and never looked back. They offer a better product, better shows and way better comps.

  4. My best advice is don't believe a word an NCL operator tells you over the phone. Check cruise critic or any other source before believing the NCL operators. Most are truly clueless and will give any answer knowing it will never come back to them. That's just my experience. YMMV.

You said it all. It is hard to imagine but in many cases cruise critic is a much better source of information than NCL.

  5. Its an increase of $.51 per day per person on my upcomming cruise in Haven. I think we can handle it.

Exactly. The staff earns it and that extra $3.57 pp on my week long cruse won't really be noticed. Just to show I'm a nice guy I might actually round it up to an even $4.00. I am by no means made of money but when I'm on vacation I am not really go to sweat a little extra money hear and there. If it really bothers some people that much just have a couple of extra drink on the UBP and that will make up for it.

  6. Actually, those who DON'T like Norwegian as in "I'm never cruising NCL again" should be the ones to move on. Chalk it up to experience and, as the song says, "Let it go"... don't have a vendetta mentality under the guise of "helping others and protecting them from big bad NCL". Those of us who return to book NCL will continue on this board assisting others and maintain an ongoing conversation to share our experiences. Otherwise all newbies would hear is the spew of negativity and not the counter-point.

Guess what? Office Depot does not sell trains or have any you can catch. No royals own Burger King or Dairy Queen and nobody cares that NCL is not a norwegian company although you can take a NCL cruise to Norway if you wish.

I do not think NCL is perfect by any means but I will continue to try and be helpful and informative.

Okay, next you will tell me Subway doesn't operate trains. LOL

  7. Several cruises on CCL before NCL for me. I didn't notice any difference in the dress code. The cabins are smaller on NCL. The MDR and buffet food is better on NCL. The entertainment is light years ahead on NCL. The amount and quality of live music really stood out. The main shows were great. By all means reserve you dining and shows as soon as you can.

  8. Lets take the two posts I have seen from you today....paraphrasing...

What is the speed at O'Sheehans?

    • Worst food ever...waiters are miserable....I would only eat there is nothing else if open

    Is UDP a good deal?

    • Only if you are a raging alcoholic.

I guess that makes the UDP the deal of a lifetime for me.

  9. I'm sorry you had a bad time on your cruise. If you are like me you really look forward to your vacations whether it be a cruise or something else. I too have had a cruise from hell and it seems like sometimes it just snowballs. Other times it is just one pleasure after an other. I hope your next cruise goes better.

  10. So if one were to play blackjack at the table minimum for 1 to 2 hours an evening on a cruise, is that even enough to be worth checking with them about?

It is always worth checking with them. The worst that can happen is they say no. Just make sure you always get rated. I can't tell you how many times I didn't bother getting rated and then I get on a roll and wind up spending the better part of a sea day in the casino. Never again.

  11. I can certainly relate. I took a cruise on CCL to celebrate my retirement. It turned into the cruise from hell. Guest services tried to help but it really didn't help. I swore off of cruising. Two years later CCL finally won me back with a great casino offer. We had a blast. I am now addicted to cruising and I love NCL, I have had three great cruises on the Epic. My point is don't give up on cruising and who knows NCL might win you back. Thanks for an honest review. I swear it seems like sometimes things just start compounding.

  12. Thank you for the review. I have sailed her twice and loved it both times. My advice to anyone sailing her is to come here and research her so you know what to expect. She is a unique beast. A one of a kind. I agree with the mouse maze concept and my wife detests the lighting in the cabin. The staff, entertainment and food more than make up for it.

  13. I have come to the unfortunate conclusion that my play on-board doesn’t make enough of a difference. I think the Ultra Cruise I just went on is my last gambling cruise with Carnival. I will sail lines based on itineraries. The offers are weaker, from ports too far away, with itineraries I have been to, during times I can’t go! Land casinos are a better deal. I can always get a free room in Vegas whenever I want.

For me, my serious gambling is done in land based casinos. The conditions on cruise ships just don't justify anything more than low stakes and just having fun, wasting time. I have begged both CCL and NCL to open a double deck $50.00 blackjack game and it's just not going to happen.

  14. I used to get bounce back offers and Premier cruises from CCL. Around a year ago the offers dried up. It is strange because the last Carnival cruise we sailed, we played more and at a higher rate than previously. We play blackjack and got ahead the first night and stayed ahead the entire cruise. By the last night we were playing $50.00 and up and tipping constantly with some tips as high as $25.00. It was after this cruise our offers dried up. I have since cruised NCL and never looked back. The entire cruise just seems to be better, especially the entertainment. Drinks are included everywhere on the ship and you can book as many free cruises as you want without waiting for a specific day. I have booked the Bliss 18 months ahead of when I want to cruise along with two other cruises. NCL IMHO does it right. CCL has the most ridiculous way of rating players that I have ever heard of. Adios CCL.

  15. I have been playing BJ for over 30 years. I remember finding $1.00 tables with great conditions. After my last couple of gambling trips I have made up my mind that unless it is a double deck game with good conditions I won't be playing seriously. As far as cruising goes I will be hanging at a $6.00 table, buying in for a couple of hundred and betting the minimum on every hand, passing the time socializing and drinking comped drinks off of NCL's drink plan. If I win or lose a couple of hundred no big deal at least I was entertained. If and when I want to play at $50.00 and above I will find a casino with a double deck game. Unfortunately it looks like 6:5 is here to stay
